So I'm noticing a lot more small things.
Also, something that Aisa pointed out to me recently
was the large amount of traps that exist in TFT.
There's a lot of traps where it's like,
if you're not thinking too hard,
you can just randomly blunder the game.
You know like in chess when you like can accidentally blunder me in one
There's a lot of traps in tft like that
If you level to eight at the wrong time on the wrong turn I
You like instantly lose the game
If you level to five on the wrong turn you instantly lose the game if you click the wrong augment when there was a really good
Augment available you also instantly lose the game
So, a lot of this climb was just like falling for less traps.
A really big example I can think of is if you're on a win streak, you're going into stage four
and you're like, I could level on 4-1 and roll to try to keep my streak or I could chill.
One of the biggest mistakes I was making that threw away a lot of placements, like literally
like three placements, maybe more, is I would level and roll to keep my streak.
But the answer is always you should scout first and then decide if you should level.
Because in a lot of these games, even games I had today, when I was on a win streak, I
would scout and I'd be like, wait a second, all three of my opponents aren't spending
their money.
I win streak no matter what.
I can just wait one turn and then have like 20 more gold to roll.
And like that 20 gold allows you to hit more or stop earlier and have more money
to go 9 and let you go 9 like three turns sooner.
Right?
like level if you have to, but first make sure that you actually have to.
Almost every decision to level up is first preceded by a decision to scout and see if it makes
a difference.
Now that's probably the biggest fundamental change I've done in the last 20 games.
It saved me like an extra 10 gold per game probably, because like, yeah, I'm on a five
streak going into stage three, I could spend like two econ here to level, or I could
scout first and like be like oh wait actually I went all through matchups anyway or the matchups hopeless
and even if I got the matchup it wouldn't matter right you should only level up it actually makes the
difference that alone has like improved my econ tremendously which makes a big difference because
like the map when I was losing in these really frustrating games let's get a last 100 when I
was over here playing and getting really mad a lot of these bought fours were games where I
I would go 6th when like second place had like 15 HP and like it's very frustrating when
you die because of bad matchmaking and like three other players are low but also that's
just how TFT is, that's just how the game goes.
When good players play the game they tend to know how to like use the HP as a resource
and people tend to get low near the same time.
What it really means is that making like one or two less mistakes gets you like
plus 3 placements. Every single time you randomly lose around because of like a mistake that
was preventable, it's going to cost you like 1 or 2 placements in a high elo lobby because
everybody is going to like get really low because they're using their HP as a resource.
And then those final few matchups matter so much and then making one less mistake to
have like an extra 10 HP could be the difference between you making the cap out board and
fully winning the game or you barely dying before you get to cap out. In one of
my games earlier, I believe it was this Noxus first place right here, I was playing speedy
double kill and I made a huge mistake. I didn't position because I was doing my roll down.
The mistake was like taking too long on my roll down. I needed to just like spend my
money faster and then think about my positioning. My tank was on the far left, my carry was
on the far right because I was doing like a big pivot and swapping out 8 units. And
And what happened?
I lost that round.
Because I lost that round, I didn't proc my speeded double kill.
Because I didn't proc my speeded double kill, I couldn't roll for my two star legendaries
and then I went down to one life but I got really lucky.
I got bailed out.
Someone ended up dying and then I was able to proc my speeded double kill, kill all my
upgrades and then win the game.
But imagine if I played, if imagine if I made one more mistake.
Alright that slow world then was a pretty big mistake.
I wouldn't call it a blunder, it was just I was slow.
I didn't finish my actions in time
It was a bad turn and like
It was hard to do better though. I felt like I went pretty fast
But if I was a perfect player I could have gone faster, but imagine a world where I made one more mistake
And I lost around I shouldn't have and instead of going down to 3 HP
I went down to negative 5 HP and I was dead right imagine that and then I never cash out my speed double kill
it would literally been a
first to seventh play or like
Like a 100 LP mistake, instead of gaining 40 for this, I would have lost 60.
Every tiny mistake matters.
A lot of these games were extremely close.
There was a world where this 1, 1, 2, 3, 5 was instead like 7, 1, 4, 6, 6, something
like that.
If I made one more mistake per game.
A really important thing that, again, Asa, sorry to glaze Asa too much, he's
He's just a really good coach and he helps me out a lot.
Another really important thing that Asa told me,
he's like, even if you think you're playing your best,
if the reality is, you're just like 10% slower than normal,
whether it's from like a lack of sleep or you're tilted
or you're receiving a blowjob under the table while you play
or you're watching Netflix on the side
or you're watching speed running documentaries like me
on my second monitor,
if you're playing even 10% slower,
that 10% slower doesn't mean you're gonna go like
Average wasn't four to average wasn't five that means in an individual game
You can go from like fourth to eighth if you're just not paying enough attention because of these really close like lobbies
Right if you're playing ten percent slower
That's like you'll make one or two more mistakes than normal and then that could be the difference as to why you don't cash out
You speed up a kill and die
So
Yeah, I guess a lot of climbing was mostly just like being at a hundred percent or being close to a hundred percent
when you play. It's really hard to tell if you're at 100% or not though. In League of Legends, if you're missing CS,
you can just be like, oh, well, I'm playing bad. I can't even see us correctly.
I'm like failing to flash the projectiles in time. But in TFT, it's really hard to know if you're playing badly.
Because when you're playing badly, you're just not seeing stuff.
Right?
The difference between an unlucky game and a game where you played bad to a bad player is the same.
game. If you're bad at the game, you'll be like, oh, I was just unlucky. There was something
I could do. But there will be, there will be like these rare games where like even really
good players are like, there was something I could do. It's hard to tell. But I would
say the biggest thing that helped me climb was like playing only at 100%. That's why
I'm not playing now because I can tell from that game that I was not playing at 100%.
I made too many mistakes. Thank God I still got second.

at video games right? It still took me like two maybe three sets to hit 300
for the first time.

It would create this situation where back-seating is basically required.
Like, you guys watch my stream, you guys watch Soju's stream, you guys watch like T-Lades
or Wazion, and like to them, a 600 LP lobby is like really easy, but I think it's worth
noting that in general a 600 LP lobby is like really good in the grand scheme of things.
There's no way a new player is sitting 600 that quickly, unless they're like a prodigy.
I can't think of a single person who hits 600 LP on their first set of TFT.
I can think of many people who hit Masters.
I can think of a couple people who hit like 200 LP on their first set of TFT.
I think of zero people who can hit 600 LP on their first season.
There's definitely just a limit to how much you can learn in a couple of months.
