No, they have not. Although I can say this, at this point I can say they could really easily
make this the same world as Returnal. Because they could posit that this world, this universe,
has ancient slumbering gods on different planets. And those ancient slumbering gods
affect the people that land on them in different ways.
So for the Returnal Game, that ancient god was like a timey-wimey introspective, I'm
going to try to make you figure yourself out, kind of shit.
This planet's god is more of a, I'm going to drive you crazy to make you want to be
the most powerful person, I'm going to make you want to be the best, and everyone wants
to be the best, so you're all just going to murder each other while chasing this
power that I'm dangling in front of you.
So it's like those two worlds could exist in the same universe and it would make sense.
There could even be other worlds that have other dark Cthulian gods that have different
purposes, right?
Like maybe one of the gods wants to form like a, like a Zerg style army.
So it doesn't drive people insane, it enslaves people and that's like a completely different
thing, right?
So like they could go crazy with this if they wanted to.
Yeah, like it to be clear nothing in this game so far is even hinted at that
And I don't know if it's ever going to but I mean it could work
It could work and it could make sense
But see here's the thing if they did do that
If they did do that chat and that would take out like all the reasons I don't like Returnal 1
one. Because then that would mean Return of One's story actually happened. Like it's
concretely in a universe. And that would make me a lot more interested in it. Yeah. That's
the thing that drove me crazy about Return of One is because that game could have ended
with a slow zoom out of a woman with a head injury in a hospital bed. And you would
have been like oh it all makes sense and I I can't stand when stories are like
that sucks like no no no not okay so yeah if they were to do that I've been
saying I would I would lose my mind that'd be so cool make it all actually
make sense we'll see they have made it very clear that you do not need to play
Returnal 1 to play this game so I'm not holding my breath.

I just really didn't like how vague it was.

But, and I like, I like that in stories when it's not the whole story.
Like when it's not, when the entire story is not based around that premise, I think
it's fine.
But I felt like Returnal the entire time was flirting with is this real or not
real and they never really give you the tools to answer that and and I don't I
don't like that I like I feel it's kind of lazy I don't know I don't know a
better way I don't want to I feel like there's a descriptor that's not
derogatory I feel like lazy is derogatory it's not lazy it's just
it's just not nearly as interesting to me it doesn't it doesn't do the same
thing to me at all and I don't know I don't know why I wish I could explain it
I completely lose all immersion in those types of things.
Unfulfilling. That's a good way to see it. It's very unfulfilling. It feels like you're
expecting a meal and they bring you an empty plate. That's the best way to explain it.
It's like when the game does a good job of wetting your appetite and then instead
of serving you a meal at the end they just give you an empty plate that's what
it feels unfulfilling it feels like that kind of it almost feels like kind of
like I kind of wasted my time you know like I played this game so you could
tell me a good story not so I could come up with one myself I want to be told
the story. Oh, and further, yeah, I just want to be perfectly clear. Everything I'm talking
about is subjective. This is, this is, I know most, many, most, I'd argue most people love
stories like that. So, yeah, it's just, just random subjective, more ranting for
me. Soul games are the same? Souls-like games? I don't, I don't, I don't really go into
any Souls-like game expecting a story. So... I don't know. A little bit different.
Souls-like games are all about world lore. It's all about, like, just being in the
world and learning about it and learning how it got to the way it did and all that
kind of stuff. That's how I see Elden Ring Games. I never play an Elden Ring
game being like, I need an epic story. It's just not on the list of checkboxes.
So this game tells a story if you want to look for it.

Souls games have themes a lot of times, and like there's obviously a chain of events.
But it's not by any means what I would say traditional storytelling.

see it so and I mean at that point if you don't do that if you hide your lore
I mean it's kind of interesting because this goes into like all of a sudden
we're talking about Crimson Desert right we're inadvertently not talking about
Crimson Desert that had an incredible story that buried it in world lore so
nobody knows it the lore of Crimson Desert actually awesome nobody's gonna
know it because the only way you can see it is if you play it for 200 hours and
solve 40 puzzles that's the only way you're gonna get to the lore so you
could argue that there is really good world lore in Crimson Desert but I mean
I don't know man that's that's I again I feel like that's that's a little bit
different. I want to play the story in the Crimson Desert lore books and not
Crimson Desert!
I want to play that game.
When you get to make that game from this, that sounds awesome.

In Crimson Desert?
In Crimson Desert, I would argue, and again, not to be mean, but I would argue that Crimson
Desert is a relatively large failure in proper storytelling, and the reason I'd say that
is because when you learn all of the lore that the writers had to work with for that
main story and they chose the events that they did and they chose it to present it the way
they did and they chose to omit some of the most major parts of the story in the game's
main story.
I would argue that is a, I just, again, I don't know what they were thinking dude.

It's wild to me that made that decision.
They turned what could have been a very interesting, cool, relatively unique story into a disjointed
mess.
It doesn't even make sense, y'all.
Like, parts of the story don't even make sense.
You're not given the tools to understand what's happening on the screen.

The entire last chapter could have been so epic, if properly presented.
But they decided not to give us the tools we needed to understand the situation.
So it just became this weird, like, what am I watching mess?

What's the story based on?
I'm not going to get too much into it, but go Google
the Crimson Desert lore you learn after basically 100%
in the game.
And the game gives you this set of books.
And in the books, you read basically the foundation
of the world.
And it turns out the foundation of the world is badass.
Like, it's a really cool sequence of events
that's happening, but they never
referenced them in the game.
And instead, not only do they not reference him in the game,
but it's clear the story of the game was supposed to connect to that lore,
and it doesn't really make sense without it.
So that's the worst part.
The game doesn't make sense without understanding the foundation of the lore.
It just becomes this weird sequence of events that kind of connect, but not really.
And you're always kind of asking yourself, like, why am I doing this?
He's like why is this guy, you know, but it would have made perfect sense if you understood what was going on

So yeah, it's just weird it's just weird

I think crimson desert could have been in game of your discussions that they had properly told that story
Well, maybe maybe not with all the other technical issues that they're dealing with but the patch it the patches
solved so many of the other problems. The patches have been incredible for Crimson Desert.
But I don't know if they're going to be able to patch in the main story. We'll see.
That's going to be tough.
