Battlestake Games channel live on switch. We are in the booth to bring you another
day of the festive season newsreel. My name is Cracked Wisdom sat here in the
booth with the mythical man and the moustache and all of the amazing culture that he brings
to the scene. It's hot sauce. How are we feeling, sir? How was your Christmas? I hope you had
a merry blessed day with yourself and your family yesterday. And now you're looking forward
to spending any more of that festive seasonal time with some more folks in the future. Have
you got your eyes on any maybe updates that have come into Tarkov that you're looking
to try out over the next couple of days? Dobre pojola vet, my druzie. In the
I'm very excited. As we all
know, there's a recent arena
patch with a lot of great
changes. More specifically
some to checkpoint, which, uh,
you know, I am kind of a fan
of checkpoint. I know I get
some guff for that. But yeah,
certainly excited for that
got to spend a lot of time
with the family yesterday. I
got to do a little bit of
Tarkov base game grinding
this morning and caught a
couple of arena games on some
of the new maps and stuff
that we'll be talking about
here in a little bit. So yeah,
the new year. Yeah, actually,
uh, also managed to get up at the time to spend with the
Mrs yesterday after she said she was going to be working all day,
got off early. So I took myself away early and sent some time
with her and ended up nearly sleeping past the alarm this
morning. Oh, I missed out on all the anti in the action
that's been dropped. So there's a lot for us all to be
getting real excited about today, folks. I've literally
just opened up my launcher and I've patched the arena
side of things more to come on that as we go throughout
the broadcast. But there's a lot changed overnight and
there are some really cool features that have come along
I was super keen just to load
up arena and see the new QOL
screen that pops up in front of
you telling you about all those
balancing changes and what's new
to come. So even just the quality
of life as we have come to expect
from PSG just getting that a little
bit better on every update. Yeah,
you know, we just had the base
game update and now the arena patch
update as well. And it's nice
that they're kind of all alternated
I went to do myself I can hop on arena for a little bit arena was down last night when I went to do my daily so I grinded some base game until this morning wrote around when I when I hop back on so but yeah a lot of great changes quality of life changes you know just various different things and so always taking those kind of steps or strides in that right direction you love to see it.
Yeah, some footnotes for the folks at home to keep an eye out on if you're not necessarily a blast gang fan, if you're more of a checkpoint nerd, or you feel like you're a last hero hero in hero, whichever way you want to go about it.
But if you're a slayer in the solo, then these update notes are going to be a big one for you. Obviously, last hero, the one that's getting the new maps coming into the game, as well as checkpoint, the one that's been seeming to be the heavily focused feature of those technical updates and adjustments.
those of you that were maybe having some frustrations with how the spawns have
been working in checkpoint this is an update for you that targeting of the
damage from the claymars that are used to stop that spawn protection has been
looked at as well as the actual spawns and the rotations from those respawn
locations as well so theoretically your checkpoint should play so much more
smoother now as well as the last year obviously having those additions of
the new maps there's just tons to look at with this new arena update
yeah and we've actually got some Tarkov TV coming back tomorrow as well
you're going to see a lot of
things going on. I'm sure you
know that's going to be 4 p.m.

talking about some of these
patches now to the arena
scene. So why don't we go
ahead and take a look at these
patch notes here on screen or
at least quickly go over some
of them. We talked about the
new winter locations. I
myself did have a chance to
dabble and all three of this
three of them this morning.
You got the smugglers
camp from shoreline dorms
into there as a really cool image to represent this new in-game event due back with a PMC.
But he's sporting a winter themed medal on his helmet, maybe something sort of teasing
us towards what the achievement might be for completing all of the seasonal tasks. I'm
not going to spoil that for the folks just yet, we'll let you figure that one out as
you work your way through the quest, but there are, as well as the new arena areas.
Battle Pass Season 1 has new levels added, 20 additional levels added for Battle Pass
Season 1 after level 100, which includes new rewards for the new levels, winter
camouflages and various winter themed items as well as that there's a stamp added to the tactical map in the form of a Christmas tree

We've got another pile on to be able to fill out on that type map the new checkpoint requires new year ornament tokens
Which are different to the standard ones that can be obtained just as the previous standard ones were by completing the in-game tasks
But they cannot be exchanged for the new tokens. So if you've 99 assault rifle tokens previously collected up
you have to participate in the
Christmas event to get the
Christmas tokens that however
is going to give me a big
smile because it means
everybody's going to be on
trying to complete those events
which means I'm going to have
loads of people to try and
test myself against in the
arena.
I love love more and more
competition out there and
there's a new task chain as
well that we talked about 11
part in game task chain.
I've been able to complete
that first one myself so
just getting started on the
second portion of that
before we jumped into the
show here today.
And this event is going to
run all the time.
here today and this event is going to run all the way until February 3rd as well so that
task chain will be available up until then once that event is over then of course that
task chain will no longer be available but I do believe the battle pass levels and that
new tactical map checkpoints will be available until the end of the first battle pass season
so you'll still have plenty of time to get all those wonderful rewards.
Yeah absolutely and the paint has been something a lot of the folks in the community
have been a big fan of the winter splinter paint available up for grabs during that quest line.
The checkpoint mode changes which I spoke about something I'm a big fan of personally as somebody
who doesn't enjoy checkpoint as much as you do. I am going to be looking to get into this and
have a look through those because the checkpoint mode changes include improved the player respawn
system, a mass capture, more players on the point increasing the speed. The point is captured
mechanic which is a huge one for me when you're five people stood on a point capping one
point it should be being capped faster than just a one person hold. The total overall points
to win a match has been reduced from 1500 to 1250 and the daily task requirements for checkpoint
mode following the reduction in points needed for victory have also been adjusted to come in line
with that change. The minefield damage is a big one that spawn protection where teammates were
able to push across the half of the map into the opposition spawn and hold them from being
able to get out of spawn to change the game has now been increased. Those minefields will
now kill you in game with no joke intended they are actually ruthless now okay folks if you try and
get yourself across the map to spawn trap your enemy you're gonna find yourself in increasingly
difficult situations and finding it way more difficult to do so now. Yeah you can see there's
a lot of other fixes that happen there as well on some balancing changes I think one that's a
big notable change there as well as those CQCM armor masks have been reduced down to class
three, whereas previously were class four. So there's been a little change to some of the ammo's
there as well, some of the penetration, some of the damage. So of course, you can view all of these
patch notes on the website there as well. So if you want to take a look at those a little bit more
in depth, they are available to you. Yeah, so a couple of little tweaks and adjustments, shall we
say? One of the big ones, again, coming in with the spawn changes, there was an issue
where enemies could respawn near a player in the opposing team in the checkpoint mode. So good
to see that will mean taken out as well. It felt a little bit sucky when you were dropped in between
five red players that were not your friendlies. Definitely very difficult to make it out of the
spawn there but all in all a massive patch for arena. I know a lot of people have been very hyped
for some new maps just even some new scenery to go and battle it out on and the fact that that
comes alongside a 1v1 scenario as they brought it into the last hero environment. I think
that's probably the best environment to uh first run test these maps in should we see
and then hopefully it generates enough pause that we might see them being developed into
the other game modes availability too. Maybe seeing something similar like COVID for Team 5,
maybe even a Blast Gang version. I personally would love that. Again, I love Arena but I love my
base game and I think when you can see some of those base game maps portioned out into Arena,
it just kind of creates a little bit of that nostalgia. So it's been fun running around on
on some of these last year on maps duke it out with some of the other players.
So I know again, I know that I don't know if you've had a chance.

So I'm looking forward to maybe talking to you a little bit after the show today
because I know you're going to jump right into it as well.
But I was really pleased with the maps myself again.
It very, very Christmas like atmosphere amongst the map itself as well.
Usually a tree kind of tossed in the middle, but certainly a lot of fun.
Very, very hectic.
It is all action.
There is no ratting, no hiding, like almost at any places on these maps.
I feel like this is going to be something really good for everybody going towards
the questline progression that they'll be getting to as well.
If you've been taking your time with the quest, you're not trying to rush and
race your way to Kappa or to that completion of getting out of terminal.
Then, right now you're probably at the situation where you've got
dorms kills to do, or maybe you need to go into dorms for maybe some of the
two story, the three story keys that unlock doors for quests like pharmacists.
So these last hero maps, they're essentially actually a good little
you're not really a big PVP fan.
If you find yourself struggling a little bit with PVP in these areas,
maybe take two The Last Hero maps and just familiarize yourself with the scenery
a little bit, get used to some of the rotations,
get used to jumping through windows and dorms, fighting on multiple different
levels of height. It's something for me that I'm really, really bused for
because players that maybe struggle to find a reason to go to arena,
they prefer the pace of base game and they don't really like to get into
that fast pace action.
This is now actually a completely different view to that as, well,
you might not be all about the arena environment,
but you want to improve your base game skills.
Arena's now offering you three different environments
to actually try and do that.
I always think that after I have a couple good moments
in last year that I'm ready to hop into the base game
and be a chat and then I quickly get reminded
that that is often not the case, but you're right.
I mean, it is a great way to jump in there,
kind of warm up, get the blood flow
and get comfortable with shooting
and you know, hit firing, different things like that.
So I personally always use it
for a little bit of a warm up plus the dailies.
you know ref has got some some thick out thick cases that a pretty cheap cost
comparatively to some other things so I've been trying to stack up on those as
quick as much as possible but there are a lot of really really great rewards and
so I love the fact that you have this interaction between the two games and it
can be an important benefactor to the base game. Yeah not only that as well
folks I don't know if you've been paying keen attention but with
With money making needing to be something that is very prevalent during the 1.0 release
especially if you've spoiled yourself and had a look into how to get out at the ending
without doing it through a blind playthrough which I shall not spoil right now but there
are some costly requirements shall we say to get yourself through regardless of which
path you take and therefore farming money has become something that everybody in Tarkov
has needed to find a veritable way to do so.
One of the nice ways like Hort said is the cheap cases that you can get from
ref using those legal metals and those GP coins they vendor it might not be for
the biggest book but if you are looking to make a quick couple of mill and you
want to talk about so it's not maybe a chasing the 500 mill figure if you know
you know maybe you're looking to save up some money to be able to sort out
converting into 40 bitcoins cases from ref and some of the other additions
including a key chain the the 200 and something GP coin that now went down
something it's 68 GP coins for a key chain and that goes to the therapist
for 500,000 rubles. So there's a couple of little bits that you can sort of trade in what
you've earned in the arena for some good rubal in base game if you're not looking to actually
use the arena stuff or what it is in the base game as well. So ways to do both which I like
to see. I believe, hold up. Is somebody knocking at the front door hot? I think we actually

Do you want to tell us a little bit about yourself? You know, maybe even stuff out that you enjoy outside of Tarkov or outside of content creation?
Sure, so

My name is Dan. I've been been a Tarkov main content creators since early
2018
Yeah, like February February 2018 something like that
my first video was a hatchet running guide on how to make money on customs I
just yeah for guys that were struggling and then the majority of the content
around Tarkov I've made almost 800 long-form Tarkov videos well last
eight almost eight years it'll be it'll be eight years in about a month and a
half wow yeah it's been around a long time Tarkov OG I guess but I play a
I play a lot of RPGs, I really love Diablo and PoE.
We do a lot of survival games, a lot of extraction stuff, the majority of the stuff that I do is like hardcore and feel and like sense of loss and like struggle bus.
I like that stuff, it's a good time. Dark and Darker is a big one.
I played a lot of Dark and Darker the last like two and a half, three years.
Outside of this, I was a touring singer in my early 20s.
I've just got back into like being on stage again with with a bunch of homies that also used to be touring guys
But we do like a bunch of like 90s and 2000s like divorce dad rock like cover band shit
Which has been a blast actually because we just play it like all these townie bars
And I get to sing like a bunch of songs that I absolutely love and what it is weird though because
I'm used to doing like 40 you know your favorite band ever does like a 45 or a 50 minute set and
And I have to sing for like three hours, so it's it's been an adjustment
I blew my voice out really bad in
2023 actually
Cheering on homies for the arena tournament that they did in Vegas at twitchcon. I blew my voice out bad bad
And it'll get in like a vocal note and stuff, which is really shitty
It took me almost two years to like rehab it and I got like 99 ish percent of my voice back now
Which is kind of sick
So now yeah, yeah, we're just trying to like take care of stuff now. It's pretty much it

That's a really well-rounded sort of bio there. I think I'm gonna give you a little bit of that
I mean like you said you've given a lot of you time to content creation nearly eight years
Like you said anniversary coming up in about a month and a bit for that eight year
Potential for a 10 year are we looking for maybe a 10 year celebration?
The decade's a big one. Ten years with the of committing anything to any game is astronomical. So yeah, I'll I'll still be I'll definitely still be around
You know like I'm older than most people that do this gig
There's it. There's like there's a couple of like onks out there, you know, but I'm I'm like
You know, I'm like I'm like 85 in gamer years, you know
You know like I grew up playing like
Super Mario Brothers on the original Nintendo system, you know, like when I was a little kid, so
You know, I don't know like how many more years I've got
But I know that I got more than two
So we'll be around, you know, I don't know. I just I figure probably never gonna get tired of gaming
I just don't know if I'm gonna
Like be able to keep pace the way that I have been for like, I don't know last almost decade
We'll see from that as long as it's as long as it's fun. I'm gonna keep doing it
You know well, that's exactly the question we were trying to get to actually this is kind of the build up follow-up question to that is so
Obviously with eight and a half eight years sorry seven and three quarter years with the content creation and playing the game
So I call the stuff
It take it's gonna give it an equal measures
What is it that you found in the game that's kept you coming back?
Well, what is it that like allows you to get over that burn or the the hardships that come through with playing this game?
that's allowed you to keep making it fun both for yourself and to sort of like keep driving that motivation
Well, it's like whatever like once every like seven or eight raids you win
You know and then you're like oh, I could probably win again
And then you were reminded of how trash you are in the subsequent raids, right?
And then you know you just kind of keep going because you figure like surely I'll get better
right
No, honestly, it's it's the adrenaline rush thing like if you got like a fat kid on
You know you're wearing gear that's worth like a couple of million rubles whatever and then you know
You're playing on whatever your favorite map is you're kind of just moving along doing like the loot thing
Trying to keep your eyes and ears open and then you hear a footstep in the moment that that happens
You're like cool
And then you try to like lock in and like that little adrenaline rush of like man if I fuck this up and they
Catch me right. I'm gonna lose everything
It's not really like it's not an easily replaceable feeling
And I think like the the og guys
The the normal like walking around raids and like listening all the gunshots and all that stuff that that kind of shit is boring
It's it's when you get to that moment where you know that you're in proximity of a guy and they hear you and you hear them
And you're like all right like
You know it's time to throw down and if you win that you're like yeah like that's like the shit that
I mean, everybody has been around a long time, Chase, is I think.
Well, I guess to kind of touch on that a little bit further, even as well, what for for you, what originally drew you to Tarkov and as crack said, you know, it's a tough game.
It's got a little bit of a steeper learning curve compared to more games.
Was that deter you when you played a little bit or did it affect your, you know, your thoughts on the game?
When I tried to first start playing Tarkov, I had a gaming laptop with, it was an MSI
gaming laptop with a 650M Nvidia card in it and I got like one frame per like seven seconds.
I tried to run a raid on Shoreline, loaded in and I could hear the scabs yelling and firing
at me with the inability to do anything about it because my GPU, the computer was so old
that it couldn't render anything.
But I remember wanting to get into the game because I watched Sacreal, who strangely
enough years later is one of my good friends now.
He was one of the first people that I ever watched on Twitch as a whole.
I remember watching him on customs around the water warehouse dive into that crater
that's like next to the corner of the building there off the front of it as he
was like trying to duck away from a scab that had just like halfway ravaged him
and he was in full panic mode and I remember watching him play fortnight
with break and like just memeing the entire time like the game was easy
Like watching him win like around after round playing that game or playing pubg and I was like fuck if he's panicking
There's got to be something about this
So that then I went and bought it. I couldn't play it
Parted out the laptop. I actually took it apart because I realized it was worth more money if I sold it in pieces on eBay instead of the
whole thing and
and pieced together like a little like mini ATX tower and
And that was like my first rig that was capable of like running Tarkov
which was kind of funny.
But yeah, that's how I initially got into the game
was just like, I saw somebody that I looked at
as being incredibly good at shooting games,
panicking about the AI opponents,
and was like, well, that's weird.
Cause like, I've played tons of Half-Life
and I've played CS, like it, you know,
I was like Cal, whatever, I in CS.
on some little CRT monitor back in the 1.6 days.
And I was watching a guy that I thought was better than me,
like Panic.
And I was like, well, that sounds like a challenge
I'm up for.
And then I realized how involved the game was.
And I'm one of those dudes, you've seen my content, right?
I'm all about guides and finding errors in the math
with ballistic systems or going, well, it doesn't make
sense that the pellets disperse this wide at 10
meters from a shotgun.
that kind of shit so I started diving into like all the systems and was like
oh there's actually a ton of depth here like this is actually insane and then
then they added the face-it box and like all the other shit that they had been
doing it just got more involved and it was just it was a lot to like tinker
with which I thought was interesting so it's actually an accolade I think
that comes alongside of your stream personally from my experience of sitting
by watching it I don't understand it's not words you very often say you
like to try and strive to never really come out with that phrase as
as much as possible because you go into the depth of trying to find the detail behind it
and helping people come to that understanding of why, like the hitbox registration, like
how the plates work and you know there's a lot of guys out there that I think that go
to a lot of extent to try and help the larger community through your testing to find out
what the actual answer to it is, whether it be standing in customs, taking one play
out at a time and shooting it to zero with different weapons and so on, but that
That grind of putting that content out there for people can be quite mind-numbing.
How do you keep that fresh for stream to watch, because I know some of the times I've seen
people who like to be self-like to that friendly guy and some others that do editing and stuff
whilst they're on stream, the viewers are going to see the future to try and keep that
fresh.
So do you have any tips for like the stream in general, when things are getting a bit
tough, what do you use to keep that fresh environment?
I just listen to like really loud metal.
Yeah, it's just yeah. Yeah, I just turn on like some era or
Like some some star stad or Polaris or something and silent planet, you know like that kind of shit
And we just we just head bang along, you know, because I'm so I actually I have a playlist. That's like
28 hours long or something at this point
I want to say 30 hours 30 hours that I've been like curating since I don't probably want to start a treatment that
you know we shuffle things in and out but we just put it on shuffle and it's
just like you just bang your head like the entire time I call it the anger
management playlist so you know you haven't you have a rough time you're
getting frustrated you just turn that on like kind of like let it out you know
what I mean do you do you have like a most memorable moment or something that
really stands out to you and Tarkov that you could think of I like to meme
a lot so my my stream will tell you once upon a time the KS-23 got introduced to
this video game and that changed many things we we I started saying we were
gonna shoot people in the knees right and we're gonna collect their kneecaps to
to make our tees and all necklaces to sell an Etsy then it turned into they
were gonna take the express train to Legland then I started calling the
KS-23, the Legland Express. My channel points are kneecaps. So and what happened was, I can
tell you the exact moment, so what happened was, I was in reserve underground on my way
out and someone had put a bait backpack at the bottom of the stairs, the metal staircase.
They put a bait backpack right there at the bottom next to the generator and I went to pick that up
And there was a dude with a suppressed 5-7 on top of a metal blast door tucked in behind
Like some of the H back up like in the ceiling and he shot me in the side of the head
And I was just like I didn't even know where it came from. I was just like is he cheating like what the fuck and
For the next two hours
I tried to figure out like not only the angle, but how he got up there and then once we figured that out
Then it became like alright
I'm just gonna yell at random people over VoIP and try to bait them into this room and then I'm just and then it just
became a big meme about like how I was working on the HVAC system up in the ceiling and
I was inspecting people's
feet for steel-toed shoes because they were in the construction area and
And if they failed the OSHA regulation, they had to get put down.
So, yeah, it was like this whole meme.
And then I started making videos, just like stupid highlight reels of these guys.
There was even a video of, there was a clip, a short of me holding my at the time newborn daughter.
She was like a month old, and I'm like trying to bottle feed her like on stream because mom needed a break.
to break and I'm sitting on top of this fucking door and I hear a set of footsteps and like
I'm holding the bottle like this and I I tuck it under my chin so that she can keep eating
and I reach over and I grab the mouse and I click on this dude's legs and fold him and
then I grab the bottle and like just went back to feeding her yet and Chad lost her
fucking mind.
They thought it was they thought that shit was great but yeah that was that was really
fun.
the social post that I did it ended up like polarizing the community like half
of the people were like the chaos 23 is amazing because it was like the great
equalizer didn't matter how big of a kit you wore you just died to it and then the
other half were like but my rubles and you know wanting to run their chat shit
and I just sat there cackling like the whole time it was it was awesome and
then the chaos got nerfed you know but we still run it because it's funny
I'm actually slightly disappointed up the back of that we've not got a
streamer item in game that doesn't say the D2 steel toe cap safety boots the
safest way the text the text underneath it could even read the only way to secure
your pass via the D2 construction check is to where D2 steel so caps as as and
then TM one peg at the end of it surely right that's it yeah yeah what the
fuck Makita I'll get the fishing rod out and start and hook them out of the
nearest pond I'm sure they'll be tucked down in there somewhere I'm
I'm going to be honest with you, I find it very interesting when I'm looking at different
players and different levels of hours to compare their levels of hours to their skill level
and a player.

sense 100% it's game sense it's it's knowing that like a set of footsteps on
like gravel versus like crackling glass when you're on the first floor of the
pond building you know which window they came in like that that kind of stuff I
think is like what sets people apart and it's funny because like I sometimes
I'll catch like videos like analysis videos on different players and like how they approach certain fights and like what they're thinking through and
They it'll look like a lot of times they're gambling
But they're not and I think and it in game sense in the sense of the timing too because you'll see a lot of like the higher-end players
They will
They'll try and control tempo right like that's a huge thing where they will they'll try and you know fast peak a corner
And and fire off two rounds and then they back up a half a step
Just enough to where they figure that the guy that's trying to that's fighting against them will try to counter and then
They'll catch them like peeking and then come right back a second later
To try and get them on on a quick peek and fire just because they figure they know
know where that person is going to be peaking at, just the psychological game is huge.
So yeah, I think Game Sense is the primary thing for me.
I don't think it's so much, I don't think it's so much aim.
Like aim is important in like, you know, being able to snap to a target, all that stuff
obviously matters, but I think Game Sense sets people apart.

I mean like we've said we personally were blessed with being able to meet you in person at Pax
West which was really cool to get to bump into you during the 1.0 released journey that
BSG went on.

fresh impressions of the test version of Terminal that was there for people to
have a little bit of a dabble out before it got out to the release and I mean
personally I want to say thank you for you know taking the time and effort to
make it to Pax West there was a lot of content creators that actually got out

history between me and and folks at BSG that haven't always been so rosy because

When it comes to Tarkov kind of like a little three-part here. Bear or
Youssec and then favorite map and favorite weapon. They have never played
a bear ever. Okay. So I'm gonna go with Youssec. Voice line is currently
to Keto, but historically it's always been Josh 41, his voice lines. I've got to support
the homie. I mean, the guy owns one of my hoodies, you know, like I got back a month.
Absolutely. Yeah, favorite map. People are going to hate me for this. I love the reserve
underground for obvious reasons. I just I love those tunnels, not not because of the
camping, but because when you learn that spider web of tunnels, you can pull like just
some crazy shit flanks it's really fun watching people get crossed up under
there because they just don't know their way around so yeah that'd be favorite
map and then favorite favorite weapon is obviously the chaos 23 if I had to choose
a non-shop gun MDR 308 probably love that gun yeah makes me laugh I've never
been a big shotgun person for the majority of games that I play when it
come stick on in general. It's just not something that normally takes my fancy. But I've gotta
tell you, I got told by somebody who played games way before I necessarily could consider
myself a gamer, that shotguns are the way forward. I got sworn out for years I've been saying,
you gotta use a shotgun, you gotta use a shotgun. They're just super powerful. I picked one up
in Tarkov and the first time I shot a shotgun, I was like, ba ba ba ba ba ba ba
with no attachment, it's going everywhere. It was on a scout team and I was terrible
and it's got no stock, so it's busy firing at the moon. I hit the guy like 16 times
for like 1100 armor and did him like 30 to chest and went left walking away from it going
I'm never using a shotgun again in my life Q 2 weeks later oh sorry continue well I was
going to say Q 2 weeks later a friend of mine that was much more experienced in Tarkov took
me into a raid on reserve funnily enough you say and we had a big thick guy at an Alton
and a gen 4 full hiding up inside one of the pawn buildings that my thick teammate didn't
want to go and take on now me clueless not knowing what I was doing in the game with
like awkward rate of speed and their whole body just like flips is a ragged on
it's like slippery out there it's just it's just one of the banana pale yeah
yesterday two days ago I was running around on arena like just trying to
warm up or whatever actually it's a thousand shotgun kills on arena didn't
do it before it's a thousand shotgun kills on arena to unlock the case and
you know we ran through that and then I got I got the case unlocked and then
Uh, Chad just watched me like just smirking like the entire time.
Like I'll just play around the last year.
I don't care what the score is.
I don't give a shit about my KD.
I'm just want, I just want to watch people slip and fall because it's funny.

a lot of Dota like I got 15,000 hours between like Warcraft 3 Dota and Dota

or Dendi or like any of these guys that have been around you know or like
fear like dudes that are just like gods at that video game historically but I
love watching that stuff because they the out-of-the-box shit that they will
pull sometimes on the plays that they will make it's just like damn like their
brain is different it's the same thing like when I if I watch arena for like
glass game and stuff I think is a competitive mode that makes way more
sense because you understand the objective you can you understand like
how people get set up again it plays very similar like CS stuff and watching
watching those events for me is way more enjoyable than playing them way more
but yeah like I've tuned in and you know I watched like the last tournament
that you guys casted and stuff and it was it was good. I'm genuinely curious
because also Marina has like a smaller scene of people that are watching it
with base game being very widely appreciated I know there's a little
section of the community that maybe just don't vibe with arena for whatever that reason may be
a skill base an opinion base just general time as a whole like one into funnel into base game rather than arena so and so forth
So it just it always leaves me curious as to how we can try and encourage people to be a little bit more
Interactive with arena as well as the base game
I've been trying to make sure that people understand you can jump off of base game when you get a bit frustrated if that
Snowball effect isn't working so well to just take a couple of you know a couple of hours
Maybe even just an hours with a break on arena get some daily's done

Now juggling a little bit more between arena and base game for benefits yourself
Or has that experience you've earned allowed you to be able to play base game without necessarily that additional benefit of having arena
alongside of it. I don't know if you guys know Bams. Bams is one of my boys. Yeah, I love him.
He's my brother. He kind of got me on that train a little bit where he was like, yeah,
we play arena like every morning for like an hour, hour and a half, get warmed up.
And I was like, hmm, come on. But then I started doing it. So like every morning for the last
hour, a couple of weeks, like whenever I hop on, we'll go on arena and play for like an
an hour and a half, you know, like just get warmed up, play like 5, 6, 7, 10, whatever,
like run through game modes, whatever, and it warms you up, like it works.
Like it actually genuinely does.
Like, there have been multiple moments where I played like interactions in like the core
talk-all game.
I played those interactions significantly smarter and more accurately, fighting people,
people, you know, took out a duo, took out a trio, you know, whatever, that I have found
that I play way more accurately and smarter once, like, I've just ran through and, like,
got used to the game mechanics, you know, in the morning every day, like, just, you
know, aim trainer, whatever, just beat myself up for an hour and a half, get the dailies
done, and then we go and play, like, normal Tark, and it seems like it, you know, it
first because you just get used to like the you know the recoil and camera and
you know all that shit that you have to kind of like get back used to again when
you get up the next day so it's it's actually I found that it's actually
helped a little bit and the currency isn't bad you know like I think I have
like 15 like 18 something like that like a metals and like 15-1400 like GP coin
just chilling in my stash waiting to get rep to 1.2 reps so I can just buy
bunch of thick cases so you know it definitely adds up. The thick cases
are I think a really nice addition and they're really not that expensive it's
like three leg of metals and I think 500 GP coins so I hope to see more people
taking advantage of that as far as weather seasons events go do you have a
specific weather or season and then again and or an event as well. I actually
I actually like the Winter. I like this season only because there's less ambient noise and people stick out better.
They don't hide as well in all the bushes and all the green. People have a tendency to be able to hide pretty well in Tarkov when there's all the green around.
So I like the winter event. And it tends to give you a little bit better FPS because you don't have all the grass shadows and shit screwing up your framerate.
Yeah, so I think winter. I like winter. I don't know about event events.
Probably probably just you know the I like my favorite event historically was the one that they did for Halloween where like
Or like it was like an end of season thing
When they were getting ready to do a wipe where everybody was like diseased and your health would like slowly tick off
But you had like superhuman like run and jump speed and strength and stuff
But you're like your health would slowly take away unless you like found a stem
And then you would like punch a stem into yourself and that would like curb the the disease that was slowly murdering you
So you can continue on for like another two minutes. I loved that. I thought that that event was cool as hell
that that and the Halloween event the one year where you were in raid and the switch flip and the whole damn
Seen like it like on the map all went like super foggy and the moon change color and shit. That was dope. I love that
I want to back that, and second that one again actually, if there's something you could ask for
from BSG events wise, there's something particular that you could highlight and you'd say
this event particularly smashed it out of the park for that reason, what's the one sort of like
driving force you'd like to see as the motivation behind the next event? I'll give an example
for this one, like you said, that live in-game event, there's something special about a whole
community being able to all be in a raid in a different raid or the same raid at the same
time and that one effect is globalised right it happens to everybody live in-game and it's a little
bit of a surprise too so for me that's definitely a big one I'd love to see more of those real I think
I think they're called like it live in-game action cutscenes right as similar to what we see in
terminal if you look to the left in terminals a particular thing that happens again I don't want
to spoil too much for people but there's yeah it's really cool that also falls down as well
so yeah I'd like more of them I know a lot of people like to the disease from the zombie
thing that went on labs for example but if you could drive it what would the next event
look like I guess.

That's that testing works trial and error get to fall over a couple of times to prove that it does its job

that space and test that out.

That's another big one for me.
The spawns were something that people were getting rather frustrated about on checkpoint.
If you don't quite capture the point, you have a couple of rough gunfights back to
back to back and then you get stuck in a position where you feel you can't fight
your way out of it on your skill base.
It gets very, very down heartening.
Really, really glad to see that that's been something that's been addressed and
has been heard as feedback from the community because it is something that the arena
the guys have been speaking about for a while now is, uh, spring some more, you know, love
to the other game modes, obviously, we're out there town to the blast gang stuff, the
competitive. I know a lot of people love a good loss hero now and again, but I do feel
like team fight and checkpoint. It's an acquired taste. I would love to see people appreciate
all of the game modes more as a whole, so that everybody's got a bit more variety
to play. That being said, onwards and upwards is always the trajectory, right

quality, correct? And maybe something to give your glasses a little bit of relief. My over
ear cups were pressing my glasses into my head, just to try these out. So talk to
me about audio. How have you felt with the in-ears? How long have you had them
for? And do you believe in-ears over cups is a choice or is necessary for top tier
game play? Not necessary. I'm an audio nerd, right? Like,
mixing board in the background. So, yeah, like, I gotta put
this, I have been wearing any ears on stage for 20 years. And I

They have like patents for like a like hearing aid tech and stuff even
They work with like huge huge huge artists like Beyonce and John Mayer and like all these like massive artists
But they're spending like these these are like
$2,000 I want to say for for these these so like a car like a car
that you would drive around like you know whatever they have like speakers in
them right like you know seven eight ten speakers you know all have varying like
levels of frequencies that they're like a tune to like a subwoofer is all like the
low sounds and then there's usually like little tiny like tweets up in like the
A pillars or like in the dash somewhere for like a little tinny and like the
sibilants and you know all that stuff and then there's like mid-range stuff like
usually in the doors like six by nines whatever these are kind of like
the same thing. These are A12s. So each ear has 12 different, like quote unquote, speakers,
like little drivers in them that are all tuned to different frequencies. So it just gives
you a lot more customizing that you can do, like with the audio that's delivered to your
head. That's kind of the thing. And they weigh like an ounce, like two ounces, whatever,
versus like a full set of headphones that weigh a lot more regardless of what it is
that you're using, but they have all kinds of different price points like the KZ ones
on Amazon are like 50 bucks, 100 bucks, something like that. They're what are called universals.
They have like a bunch of like gel tips, like Skull Candy earbuds or like, you know,
your Apple iPods or whatever, AirPods, the same kind of thing. But I prefer in-ears
only because like, I like sound isolation. So like, when these are in my head, the
The only thing I hear is like self monitoring off of my own microphone and then like whatever
audio I'm delivering to myself.
That's the only shit I can hear.
If my head's turned and I'm like looking at my PC and somebody comes in the room, they
could be like, you know, waving and saying hi or whatever.
I won't hear a damn thing.
I am like locked the fuck out.
So I prefer that most, some people don't.
They like open back headphones, for instance, but I prefer it just because like I can
dial in like what I want to hear and like how much of it that and like it also
works as hearing protection so I go to a lot of concerts because these are custom
molded I just like unplug the wires because the wires unplug from the tops
of these so I can just unplug them and then they just work like ear pro because
like they knock out like 30 dB worth of worth of noise so I can go to a
concert and know that like my ears are completely like protected from like
all of that, still enjoy the show or whatever, but I don't have to worry about it, you know?
So it kind of has like multiple things, you know, no headdent, so I don't end up looking
like a, like a tap man, like that kind of stuff.
So yeah, it's nice.
I prefer them, but a lot of people, you know, they want to do headphones or they want to
do like a cheaper pair because like it doesn't matter and that's okay.
Like I'm an enthusiast.
It's like if I was a car guy and I wanted to get a body kit or if I wanted to drop
an LS swapped engine into the into a bay of my RX7 right like I could I could go
and do that and like that's where my money goes in in my case like I'm an
audio nerd like I got I don't have like a go XLR I got a $2,300 Allen and Heath
mixer right so that's just like my thing and and other people have like their
own things so if you want to give it a shot I would just go to Amazon and get
like a cheap parent if you'd like it and you figure you want to go heavier
handed then I would like upgrade into like the 64 audios of the world and do
like the $500,000 like Pear and then just baby them right like I just swapped out
these are brand new like I just got these like three weeks ago the pair that
I've been using I had used 12 hours a day every day for like four years which
is not normal for in-ears most people like they just use them for like stage
performance or like you know like computer stuff or whatever I would I
I ended up being like a fucking case study for them because I put more hours, I clocked
more hours on mine than most people would do like in their entire lifetime and they
still, they sound just as good now as like when I got these out of the box they sound
exactly the same.
So they definitely have like quality like it holds up.
But anyway.
No, no, this is good to be honest with you.
This is why we ask somebody like yourself about a question of audio.
I know you're passionate about your audio, something that picks up from being a
a fan and a viewer myself over various years of watching you, something that you speak very
well of for audio, to bring it more sort of back towards the relevance to Tarkov, for me
the question about the in-ears is to relate to the 1.0 experience obviously with the game
being released and a lot of people being keen to the story that's come alongside of
it. There's that immersion level that I think in-ears bring and the one thing
I have found myself doing more now since the 1.0 release is actually physically
jumping in my computer chair has the game become more of a horror game or not one peg I can't tell
but my heart rate is telling me yes more of one I mean I think it's just a horror game in general
like uh Tarkov because of the slow pace like Tarkov's all about those jump scares right like you
have that scab that never made a sound just ended up being like under your chin the moment that
you turn a corner and you're just like Jesus you know um there's a lot of that for sure um
Over time, Tarkov's always had really jank audio in places, but I think it's become more
accurate as time has gone on, which is really good.
The more accurate that becomes over time, I think the more immersive it gets.
Again, audio nerd bias, but for me it's always like audio is the thing that tends to make
people feel really, really immersed in a game.
Graphics are nice and they're pretty, and ooh, look at that nice scenery, wow that

of the design details but like for me the audio has always been the thing that
like draws people in and makes them go like wow so yeah the more the more of that
the Tark does and at one point I was a step in the right direction but the more

There's definitely been like a ton to do which has been cool.
But yeah, with the overwhelming amount of stuff that there is to chase in this game
with all of the quests and everything, it's just like we just pick one and go,
I guess I'll go work on that, you know, and that's kind of it.

Well that's exactly the question I was going to ask is, do you think that's helped with the pace for a lot more people?
Do you think that's helped Starkov to be open to an even wider player base than it had already been with the fact that,
on release now, it's a permanent character.
I know we've spoke about a little bit of the return of a fair few people that have played the game through its development,
release they're back to you know maybe give it a second run or really commit to
that permanent character that's coming through I know obviously we've got events
coming there's a little bit of a tease that was dropped for something Tarkov
2.0 during a Russian broadcast that Nikita took part in early on in the
weeks yeah definitely things coming up in the future I'm just wondering
whether that like 1.0 draw is gonna continue to increase as we go
throughout 2026 or whether you think that the the peak has come for the
player base I mean I've seen and it seems daily to be continually increasing
how many people are running into in raid yeah I mean I think that because of
there being a sense of permanence there obviously there's gonna be people that
come in that are curious they're gonna they're gonna want to try it out play
whatever, see what they can maybe accomplish in the short time that they have like on a daily basis.
I'm sure that there are people that have also returned to the game because they're like,
okay well now my character's not going to get white so I can kind of like chip away at this over
however long. I don't know if I would say that the player counts are going to go up over time.
My guess would be you're going to have people that you know got in on the hype wave, they
They watched whatever content creators or all the hardcore go crazy and progress through
and get to the terminal thing and all that stuff.
Probably chip away at it a little bit here and there.
Tarkov, I think for the majority of people is one of those games that you don't live
in.
I think the majority of people visit it from time to time to remind themselves that they
need to practice self-love and then set it aside for a few weeks and then decide
they need to be tortured again so they come back and remind themselves why the game isn't something
that everyone should play. I don't think it's something that appeals to like a mass audience.
I think it's a game that like Nikita had originally intended is more for a niche crowd.
I think that probably the majority of people that play this game play it because they
tell themselves that they like it. It's definitely not for everyone and it was made with that
intention and and I hope that it stays that way like people that want to play
like the the mass appeal extraction game there's arc Raiders exists now and that
game is great and I think that those people should just go play that game
and and not worry so much about how frustrating Tarkov is I think it's
just one of those games that you come back to when you feel like like visiting
it and being reminded of like how much the devs don't give a fuck about you
or your feelings. I don't mean like personally, I just mean like, oh, you fell over and died.
That's so sad. Run it back. You know, like that's it.
There was a reason that the One Point O released Shaxx both at Paris and in Pax West was touted
to the line for that video that said, prepare your cheeks. Like the devs were literally
sitting there and pre-warning you. It's not a joke and One Pegg's not throwing
any shade towards anybody here. He's being genuinely serious. The devs want
you to feel the hardcore effect. This is meant to be a challenging game. You are intended
to fall over multiple times and I think the way that 1.0 has been constructed alongside
the prestige system and the requirements of what you need for each higher level of prestige
to level up actually matches the intention behind the game overall. You have the
tour and the ticket for prestige one and then you get another story section added
in for prestige two, a little bit more for three and a little bit more for four.
The idea being that every time you attempt to escape from Tarkov, you are giving yourself
more information as to behind the reason why you're escaping and what's actually going
on in the game.
The theory behind this being that you can complete different endings via the path
that you take through terminal for each of the prestigious.
The first route would be the quickest route that requires you to get through via one
of the endings that you pay a fee, and then as you go further down the line you
would be able to complete other parts of the story which is required for the
prestige which would direct you towards a different ending so your savior your
humanity your fall in your debtor whatever the case may be I think they've
built the prestige system really well alongside that 1.0 flow that it kind of
guides you to doing the different endings so that you learn right you
do two story missions and prestige the first prestige one and then you go
back the second time around but they want you to be a bit more detailed
about it. They want you to do a couple more side quests. They want you to do one more story
quest. They want you to learn more about how to be in Tarkov before you get to get that
second prestige and escape the second time. So personally, I've been a massive fan of
that. I like the way that if you are new to the game and you've not prestigeed before,
it kind of sends you on almost like a quest path line to follow. So you don't need to
be a completionist the first time over to actually finish the game and escape from
Tarkov. You can do the bits required for P1, go back and then go at a more detailed
approach on the second time around. So I really like the way that that's been released as a whole.
Well, yeah, yeah, I think I think the the drops campaign stuff, one of the guys, one of my mods
and my chat just made a good point. With the drops campaign stuff, there's so much more
like stock getting getting injected into the game that it's kind of made a lot of the steps
to get through like certain stages of the game considerably easier you know that just
says that they're way more supply of things so like the economy isn't nearly as expensive
as it had been historically I think a lot of people are able to kind of like get through
certain stages of the game a lot more readily than they have been in the past.
I'm just giggling as I'm pretty sure Mr. Wumpeg that after the conversation we had
in Seattle and the yappage for us here on the bench. We could probably talk for hours but
unfortunately we are going to have to draw this beautiful interview to a close and I say
