Welcome to the past. Let me tell you a story. Back when MBARC was in the beta testing very
very early, when it first was introduced. We played it, I hated it at first and then
I enjoyed it. There was multiple occasions during the beta and the early play tests where
devs of the game were actively watching and listening and
conversating with individuals, players in the game. I mean, hell, we even got to play with
one of them and do a couple raids with them. Dude, the excitement that these guys had of their
game coming out, I mean, they knew it was going to be successful. They knew it. They knew that the
game of of Ark Riders and it's going to be good and they put a lot of effort into it.
Then the game came out and of sure as shit, bro, it fucking blows up. Blows up.
All of them make a ton of money or the company embark makes a shit ton of money,
100 million, 200 million, 300 million dollars. I would love to know how much they made at the
end of it but I would I would it's hundreds of millions of dollars for absolute fact I mean
there was times at one point I'm pretty sure they had like over a million and a half concurrent
players which sounds ridiculous but you have to think that the game is always going to have every
game is always going to have more players on console than it does on PC and if we just even just
take a look at the Steam charts for Arc Raiders. They're in their absolute peak. They were at
465,000 players, right? And typically, on these types of games, on console, it's going to be like
one and a half times that number. So I would say, let's say safely, we'll say a million.
million concurrent players and I feel like with a lot of these games at least
in the history of video games whenever these companies have that type of
success right when they when they have when it goes from a not always a
passion project but when it goes from like a studio project to a game that
makes the studio. Does that make sense? Like when it transfers from a side
piece to the main hustle, I feel like either two things happen. Either one, they
continue on track, they continue doing what they did at the beginning and
listening to their community and listening to what's going on, or they
pick option two, which is what I believe they did, which is we know what's best.
We did this. We know what the players want, even though they're telling us they want something completely different, and we're going to pick a community within our community, a player base within our community to listen to, and we're going to give them what they want.
And in my opinion, it wasn't the main people.
It was the minority of the community,
which was the PDE and the very slow
and methodical individuals in the game.
That's what they did.
They instead of making the game for the mass,
for the large majority, which was the people coming over
from multiple different types of shooters, like Cod
and even the Tarkov guys like myself, and Apex guys like Nick, and all the people who
are coming over from Turbo, Gunfight heavy gameplay, and they didn't listen to them,
instead they listened to, and I say, when I say these streamers, don't think I'm just
talking about streamers, I'm not saying that they didn't listen to streamers, I'm saying
they didn't listen to the community members who came from those types of games. I'm just using
the streamers as an example. Okay, so I know people are instantly going to be like, well, they
game shouldn't listen to streamers. That's not what I'm saying at all. What I'm saying is, is that
those types of players who came over to the game, in my opinion, was the large majority of the players
end the game. And instead of developing for those types of people, they developed for
the Karen on Twitter and on Reddit, complaining about their being too much fighting. They're
being too much this, they're being too much that. Add that end to just bad development
in my again, in my opinion, just bad calls. You know, we talk about all its time, but
like bird city and these stupid fucking weird modes that made absolutely no sense that again
that small very very small group would say that they loved and they were super vocal about loving
it when in reality 95 of the player base thought it was fucking stupid and dumb and pointless
like they just did they did so much stuff that made no fucking sense no sense and
on top of that we're talking about the direction of the game now let's talk
about them not doing shit brother there was a zip line that you could jump and
attach to it wasn't even like it was difficult you would just jump inside of
it air to the air vent and press E and you were outside the map murdering
everybody that was in the game for a month for a month there is in no way
shake or form a reason that should exist bad for that long we are talking
about something where it would take them bringing down the game for a couple of hours putting
a fucking wall there and it's done and it's fixed and they wouldn't do it.
They couldn't do it.
They wouldn't do it.
And I see people in here.
It was Christmas.

I want to say this as, I want to say this as nice as I can say it, but when you are
having success like this, you have, you have choices, right?
You can either put the game on the back burner, go and enjoy another Christmas with people,
family or whatever, or you can lock the fuck in and make sure that everything is going smooth.
And that was during their big boom.
Now I'm not saying that they're bad people for wanting to go and enjoy their vacation.
Of course not.
I'm not saying that.
Everyone is entitled to going and spending great time with their family, and that is
a decision I do not dam them for whatsoever.
to say that, oh well it was Christmas so they shouldn't have to work on the game at all.
I mean you're not wrong but at the same time this is what ends up happening when you don't
put in that extra work.
This is what separates this studio from let's say another studio that has had continued
success being able to be like alright you know we have issues I need to fix this before
I do anything.
I mean hell even myself
During holidays and stuff. I if major things are going on hell during on Christmas Eve
I flew home to be back for a Christmas Tarkov wipe, but that's a decision you have to make as a company

for weeks and months on end yelling slurs changing their name to the
streamers government name
doing all this wild shit
and again there's going to be individuals you're gonna say
well just because their streamers such doesn't mean they deserve
special attention
and i don't disagree but if you have someone
cheating
with that streamers government name with anybody crossed the the the map
in front of thousands of people.
And you can't just smite that guy.

For them not to lock in and to be honest all those excuses could be valid and are valid, but

So I enjoy it to like some degree still but it's definitely crazy to see the falloff that it's had
