[00:34:25] boss, a huge geologic surveyor that scans for flux deposits to harvest. Its scan fields
[00:34:31] are very lethal, creating a dynamic obstacle course of lasers to avoid while attempting
[00:34:36] Destroy the boss that does not look fun while attempting to destroy the boss Jesus

[02:30:49] and we knew that with Annapurna's partnership with Konami helping to guide the project,
[02:30:53] that the three teams together could produce something original exciting for the fans
[02:30:56] and show Silent Hill in a way that hadn't been seen before.
[02:31:19] Let's take a look at the people who make the sound.
[02:31:23] We've got our previous games that we worked on over the years, so Super Arclight was our
[02:31:52] first title that we released back in 2016. Stories Untold, 2017, Observation 2019 and then Silent Hill
[02:32:01] soon. A little collection of Silent Hill games, the thought that we're going to be slotted in at the
[02:32:08] end there, it is a genuine honour to work with the franchise and to contribute to it. After we
[02:32:13] shipped Observation we were kind of like figuring out what we're going to do next and then we got
[02:32:17] We got this call from Annapurna to ask us what we would do at Silent Hill.
[02:32:20] That froze us in our tracks.
[02:32:22] It's not an opportunity we ever thought we'd get, but it's one we knew we all wanted right away.
[02:32:27] We pulled together a pitch of what we felt would be a really cool, unique screen burn
[02:32:33] take and brought it to Konami and we're delighted that they loved the idea.
[02:32:37] It was like, this is exactly what we need, this is what we want to do and we want
[02:32:41] you to go for it.
[02:32:42] have their trust and as both Annapurna and Konami is a huge honour.
[02:32:56] It's good they're actually showing more gameplay.

[02:33:02] My name's Graham McKellen, I'm the lead game designer.
[02:33:06] John is my brother, so we've known each other for a while.
[02:33:09] We have a lot of the same experiences, films that we watch when we grow up, games that we played.
[02:33:13] That allows us to work really well together when it comes to finding this energy between narrative and game design.
[02:33:20] Very early, we agreed that we wanted to present this game in first person.
[02:33:25] And first person is, you know, you have a more limited field of view.
[02:33:31] There's things happening off-screen, which you're not always aware of.
[02:33:34] and, you know, as we know in horror, what happens off-screen is sometimes scarier than what happens right in front of you.
[02:33:41] How we use the perspective to induce the horror or anxiety and fear,
[02:33:46] but then at the same time trying to find the balance to that, which is what can be good for the player.
[02:33:51] One of the first things we set out to do was like, what can we do with the radio that's not been done before?
[02:33:56] What can we do that kind of gives it a new function, a new aesthetic, but it feels silent hill.
[02:34:02] the analog tech that's kind of been my vision.
[02:34:05] This looks like a town you live in.
[02:34:07] I'm sorry.
[02:34:07] Even in our previous games, there's
[02:34:09] been as close to real life technology as we can get.
[02:34:12] This is a very small handheld TV,
[02:34:15] but kind of inspired the CRTV.
[02:34:17] The CRTV is our take on the classic radio.
[02:34:22] We really wanted to have the player bring it up
[02:34:24] and actually use it.
[02:34:25] So we were really keen on having the player tune
[02:34:29] with the CRTV actually go through the frequencies
[02:34:32] discover narrative content but also be able to use it as a tool to see where enemies were.
[02:34:44] So yeah we teach the peak mechanic which gives the player a little bit extra mobility around where
[02:34:50] a camera can be so you can peak up and to the side and to see around corners or over walls.
[02:34:57] Keep doing this as Eileen.
[02:34:58] It's really important for the first person perspective, giving the player that extra control over the camera.
[02:35:05] For a long time this game, we felt might just be more than Europe, you know, and not lock it down to Scotland.
[02:35:14] There was a drive to create something that felt authentic to us, and it kind of felt natural to kind of bring it home.
[02:35:21] You didn't think there'd be another Silent Hill game after you just said Silent Hill half? They're leaning in, dude.
[02:35:25] It's very obviously Silent Hill, Misty's, foggy environment.
[02:35:28] They're going all the way.
[02:35:30] I like a walk to school when I was growing up,
[02:35:32] because, you know, I've grown up in towns like this,
[02:35:35] in a small fishing town that's kind of similar to Sentiment Media.
[02:35:39] It's a beautifully epic, gray, drizzly environment.
[02:35:44] And we're bringing that to the game.
[02:35:47] It just feels so real, especially when you're going through it
[02:35:50] in the first person, you kind of feel like you're there.
[02:35:53] It's so detailed, every single thing.
[02:35:56] And it's all connected to the story.
[02:35:58] Very personal story.
[02:35:59] I know for John as well.
[02:36:01] I would have been about 17 or 18
[02:36:03] when the first game came out.
[02:36:04] And I was really ill, high fever,
[02:36:06] all this kind of stuff.
[02:36:07] I know I finished it.
[02:36:08] But the experience I have was like a fever dream
[02:36:11] because it literally was.
[02:36:12] For this day, I've never played it again
[02:36:14] because I kind of don't want to know
[02:36:16] whether what happened that night was real or not.
[02:36:20] John and the Fog ever since.
[02:36:22] And I think now that we're actually responsible for it,
[02:36:25] we're actually kind of pulling the rest of the team in
[02:36:27] and now we're looking forward to bringing the fans
[02:36:29] into that future dream, too.
[02:36:38] That reveal.
[02:36:52] Each team has its own vision of how they created a new experience in Silent Hill.
[02:37:01] Now, there are many things to talk about the trailer of the trailer that was released.
[02:37:07] The most important thing is that the main work is the first-person point.
[02:37:12] It's funny because it's like we actually ended up getting the super spooky first person Silent Hill game, officially from Konami.
[02:37:37] And I wouldn't be surprised if this one comes out before PT, or not PT from Kojima.

[02:38:07] But the ability to sneak, hide, and evade brings a new element of choice to the combat, where resourcing to violence isn't the only option.
[02:38:15] In fact, with the aid of the pocket television, known as the CRTV in the game, evasion is every bit as useful as survival technique as facing enemies head-on.
[02:38:24] Players are encouraged to experiment and find a playstyle that suits them while being mindful of the resources and the opportunities that surround them.
[02:38:32] Yeah, dude, that thing looks extremely alien isolation-like.
[02:38:42] Having this constant, I use that way more than any other item in Alien Isolation, you
[02:38:49] know?

[02:38:56] That additional level of fine control provided to the player works especially well in First
[02:39:00] Person.
[02:39:01] allows players to cautiously assess an encounter before they make a decision to evade or charge in.
[02:39:07] In First Person, features like the Peak or the CRTV become more immersive,
[02:39:11] rendering details up close in the character's hands and all in a tactile and physical way
[02:39:16] rather than using on-screen HUD elements.
[02:39:19] These features really shine in First Person, and as the game progresses,
[02:39:23] players will be challenged in many different ways.
[02:39:25] Using the right technique at the right time is vital for Simon's survival.
[02:39:30] John-san, next, let's look at the new main character, Simon Odel.
[02:39:35] The characters in the series are all filled with feelings, but Simon is not a leader.
[02:39:42] He is a very human being, and he is not a leader.
[02:39:47] Simon, who is the main character in the trailer, is now a member of the Central Amelior.
[02:39:55] Well, I knew in the beginning to write the game that fans would have certain expectations about the worlds, characters, and the themes that permeate the series.
[02:40:16] I wanted to both lean into those expectations in some ways and subvert them in others.
[02:40:21] Gilt is a strong theme throughout Silent Hill's many stories,
[02:40:24] and I wanted to dive deeper into the various different ways that Gilt can manifest,
[02:40:28] where it comes from, what it can do to people, and how, if you can, come to accept or resolve that.
[02:40:35] So, while those narrative themes are distinctly Silent Hill,
[02:40:38] we're looking at and interpreting those themes in a very different way.
[02:40:42] The game's beginning. Simon wants the end of the world.

[02:41:15] and they'll be kept guessing throughout. There are other characters to meet along the way too
[02:41:20] and understanding Simon's connection to them is key to the narrative. Some mysteries will pay off
[02:41:25] as the game progresses and some will deepen further, inviting players to dive deep into the
[02:41:30] world and to detail spread around the town.

[02:42:57] You're not just trying to recreate the visuals, you're trying to recreate the vibe.
[02:43:00] And there's no better way of doing it than spending time there.
[02:43:04] It's really important to not let your life behind the lens and just absorb the place
[02:43:08] when you're there.
[02:43:09] The first way that's always important for us is to get out and see the place that
[02:43:13] that's supposed to be made.

[02:43:26] The thing is so damp that when we came out here we got to like this spot and from here we couldn't see the coast anymore

[02:43:37] And we ended up with this shot here.
[02:43:40] The atmosphere is like blue and light the Sun was going down everything from that moment was when we kind of realized that this game is going to begin.
[02:43:50] We have this fog that rolls in on the east coast of Scotland and for the heart. I got pretty obsessed.
[02:43:56] It has rained every single day so far in 2026 in the UK.
[02:44:00] I could go to a town that looks like St Emilia and find a fog.
[02:44:04] Intrusive thoughts constantly, constantly spiking the brain.

[02:44:26] this was like the first beautiful corner that we did

[02:44:44] And we walked along a bunch of other piers as well just to kind of see the differences

[02:44:57] So we're in St. Monans. This is the harbour town
[02:45:01] and was the first place that we built for the game.
[02:45:04] When I started to write the story about what this town was, what happened to this town,
[02:45:08] the isolation was a big factor.
[02:45:10] There's like an existential dread that comes with that.
[02:45:12] Silent Hill has always had a sense of like not being able to leave the town and face why you're there.
[02:45:17] That isolation isn't just for the protagonist, but also for the town.
[02:45:21] It's like they've got to do what they've got to do.
[02:45:23] You just have to get on with it and you have to solve the problem.
[02:45:26] There's no runaway.
[02:45:28] It's surreal. I think it's because a lot of stuff are so similar to in-game, even like
[02:45:35] the slanted walls, the colors, wherever the benches are placed is exactly the same as
[02:45:41] in-game.
[02:45:42] These alleyways can sneak through the entire town. You're really fun to walk up and down
[02:45:47] in real life, but when you've got a monster chasing you, it's just not a nice place
[02:45:51] to be.
[02:45:52] Coming up there, this is one of the slopes that I've been looking for.
[02:45:56] It's been a very good job reproducing the visual aesthetic, you know?
[02:46:26] why it feels like a real place, but the effort that we've put in will make them feel like
[02:46:31] it's a real place and it will give them that sense of history and, yeah.
[02:46:38] In the Tocan footage from the Desert Talking, um, Danger calls a grounded Iron Man assist
[02:46:44] instead of the Air One.
