want to go and see cinema in IMAX and whatever. We're talking about like 20, 25
pounds of tickets. Expensive, but like, yeah.

between IMAX and regular film is that the aspect ratio is slightly different.

Films are quite often like widescreen like this. IMAX is a bit more like that. But then there's
another format of IMAX which is 70mm IMAX where it's actually more like that and it looks
absolutely incredible. But there's very few cinemas in the world that have the projectors
for that kind of IMAX experience these days.

So, I think there's, I don't know, I might be speaking out of my ass here,
but I think there's probably only like 25 cinemas in the world
that actually do 70mm IMAX projectors now.
There used to be a thing, and Nolan films are kind of bringing them back a little bit.
There's only, I believe, three cinemas in the whole of the UK that can do 70mm IMAX.
There's the Science Museum in the UK in London that can do 70mm IMAX.
BFI IMAX, BFI the British Film Institute which can do 70mm IMAX and then I think there's the
Ashford picture, not Ashford picture house, what's it called? Manchester picture house?
Manchester picture house which can do 70mm IMAX as well.
I believe they have a projector but they might not have actually. I'm not 100%
uncertain if the Manchester picture house has a 70mm iMac set up. But for example, when
films are... when films are... is it the printworks, is it? The Manchester printworks, is that
what it's called? Sorry. So, when films are like... released in... when films are like
released in Europe quite often the only the only cinema that really is showing it
in its true 70 millimeter IMAX film might might just be the London BFI IMAX
say but here's the thing as well it gets even more complicated because come
because, for example, you can show a film on a 70mm iMacs reel but unless the actual cameras
they used have the expanded ratio, it won't actually be filling the full screen.
So recently I went to go see Inception at the BFI IMAX, which was in 70mm, but none
of the scenes were expanded ratio up to the 1.144 aspect ratio.
So instead of like the whole screen being shown like that, it was more like that, which
kind of defeats the point of even bothering to go to kind of like an IMAX because you
want to have the whole bloody thing. Interstellar is a very good example of this because on Interstellar,
Interstellar, I think it's like a it's like a near three hour film, but only about
only about 60 minutes or 70 minutes of the film is actually in the expanded iMac 70 millimeter
ratio. So when you're watching interstellar, it'll become like fancy cameras were used,
okay, back to the indoor stuff. Fancy cameras were used back to the indoor stuff. It doesn't jar
you too much. But really, what is crazy is how much more immersive that expanded ratio is.
Now, I've been a film lover for decades and decades, right?
And it was the first film that I got to see at the true expanded ratio was, they did a
print for June 2, which I went to go see at the cinema, which was flabbergasting.
But funnily enough, they didn't actually use any true IMAX 70mm cameras when they were
filming that, but they printed it in an expanded ratio which still looked absolutely phenomenal.
So it's weird.
So if I just confused all of you, that's okay.
I didn't try, I didn't want to confuse all of you okay.
What I'm trying to say is that it's like going down a, what's it called, going down
the rabbit hole in actually finding out what presentation some of these films are.
My recommendation to you is that this year Christopher Nolan is releasing
The Odyssey, right? His version of The Odyssey.
And for his version of the Odyssey, he's actually filmed the entirety of it with 70mm cameras.
It'll be the first film I think... I think it could be arguably the first film ever
that is only going to use 70mm cameras the whole time.
Now, if that is the case, the whole film is going to look like possibly the most visually
extravagant thing you'll have ever seen in your entire life.
So if any of you have ever wanted and thought to yourself...
If any of you are like, I've always wanted to go to see what an IMAX experience, then
When the Odyssey is released in July, you can't go wrong with that if you ever wanted to see
what like a film experience could be like, yeah, but if any of you are true film fans
and you want to, and you live in the UK or you have an opportunity to go to London,
I would thoroughly recommend visiting the BFI IMAX at least once for one of their
true 70 millimeter showings. We're very lucky. We're very lucky actually to have
the even the opportunity to sustain that film presentation. It's not a
simple thing. They don't really make these systems anymore and the the
finances of maintaining them are ridiculous, I guess is the way to say it, ridiculous.
Just to put it into perspective, okay.
70 millimeter. So like a film is like this, like 35 millimeter film is like that, right?
But what they do for and that'll be one frame, one frame, one frame, one frame, one frame, one
one frame, one frame, and then it'll reel, right?
But when they do 70mm, they actually expand it to the whole of the width of the film reel
and they actually put it through like this.
So it's inverted on its side.
Of course, you're going to see it normally.
But what this means is that if you think about it, they're shining light through film,
right?
And so if you're shining light through film and you shine light through something that's
like that. The resolution, the effective resolution is going to be much less than if you shine
light through a picture like that. So you can actually get much, much, much higher resolution
with 17mm film. But the downside is that the reels are massive. We're talking about
The actual film reel will be kind of like, you couldn't put your arms around it, and it
weighs like, I don't know, I'm just guessing about 50 kilos of reel or something, so they're
the size of a small human, each one of the reels.
So the storage of them is a pain in the arse.
And to have these projectors, they're like multiple floors usually.
They usually have to have floors above and floors below for the projection room and all
of this and it's just amazing really.
It's amazing that the filmmakers even really wanted to do this and to be able to live at
a time where it's still possible to go and see films in that kind of just unbelievable
quality and immersion.
It truly is a different kind of cinema experience.

like possibilities just in here so you don't need to have all of the mods that

one I'd expect.

I will be streaming again tomorrow. I'm going to be streaming in about 12 hours from now.
And on top of that, I'll be playing World of Warcraft at the end of the stream tomorrow

do my first dungeon. Because for me, as somebody who, for somebody who has done quite a

Xavius. Imperatus 4. I got a few ahead of the curves. As somebody who likes to raid,
as somebody who likes to do dungeons. Been here, done that.
I want to check out some of the dungeons mythic plus wise I went on a
disgusting mythic plus run a few years ago as well so yeah anyway once again
