They team beat the world champions, and they thought that was the end of the tournament they thought

One thing that I will give you though because we have to give you freebies
that's all you're gonna get today is the fact that over the years I feel like yeah
freebies. I feel like G2 were the ones bringing it to the finish line when you
guys had more diversity when it comes to teams that stepped up in the right
occasion you had the NRG you had C9 you had team Liquid so proud of your region
in that sense. Yeah I forget about PlayQuest but of course. Yeah it's been
fun to see I mean and inspired has been a big part of that right you know changing
through different rosters and he's joining a bunch of rosters and not
always joining teams that are already winning championships. He is making them into championship
contenders. He did it with EG. He did it with FlyQuest. He did it with Lyon. All orgs that
did not have an LCS title, brought an LCS title after Inspired joined. You know, he has been
someone who has really been leveling up his teams and I think as a result leveling up the region too.
Talking about Inspired and Lyon and what we have today, how do we feel like Lyon evolved
throughout the tournament so far? I mean, I'm gonna, I just want to take, it's not about how
they evolved, but it's about how they continue to play their style against Team Secret Welles.
So I want to take a look at some of their Herald and just overall how they seed objectives
on purpose, right? So if you look at where we're at, Lion do have a slight gold lead,
but both early Drake's are to TSW and they are immediately on this Herald at spawn. However,
Lion are just like, we're not going to contest this at all. We're just going to push in mid.
Dokla has already been pushing in bot, and this is something that we see Lyon do so frequently back home in the LCS,
is they know when it's much better to take objectives on the map as opposed to contesting either a Herald or a Drake.
So once we get to the point where TSW are using the Herald, Lyon has actually already increased their plate goal lead,
and this is only going to get one play-it off this mid turn.
So, what ends up happening is TSW get one plate to Lyon's two plates and a top tier two in this entire run of play.
So, Lyon ends up coming ridiculously ahead despite the fact that they didn't even contest the objective at all.
Now here, we're going to have a soft contest where Lyon are going to kind of act like they're going to contest TSW at this Herald.
We get the TP coming in from D.R.A.
And then additionally again look at the map Berserker Berserker has key it Berserker is keeping it in here
Which means he's gonna be able to easily rotate and take this tier one when they're only doing a soft contest
And again my boy Doka is already pushing in the bot lane
So as we play this through again, it is kind of a soft contest here
They get the TP Doka is still pushing on this bot side
and at the end of this run of play again, TSW are not going to get much off of this
because they, even though they stun up Berserker here with the Bardalt, the Rift Herald is going to get two plays here
so a little bit better, but the entire end of this run of play, it's two plays to TSW for two tier ones
and plays off tier two bot for Lyon, they end up with a 4k gold lead after this
And something we see this is like classic lion on the international stage absolutely and and regionally as well
It has been one of their big strengths being able to play the map knowing when they are strong when they are not and
Avoiding taking fights that they're no are going to be losing fights playing the map and playing for that goal
So they can be strong later and it's something that
That docla was telling me as well
Especially after that BOG series the fact that they need to preplan a bit more and be more conscious of where and how they want to
on the map. On the side of G2 though, I feel like what we were looking at came down to preparation,
how they managed to bounce back after this horrendous HLE series and what they showcased
against T1. Yeah, I honor my boy, BB, take notes here folks, all right? What we're seeing is that
coming into the series against T1, game four, down to the wire, 2K gold behind, dragon soul on the
cards, it was the objective setup from G2 that made the difference. So, coming into this, I want
I want to highlight two things.
What we've got is BB who's been spot on the ward just here.
And then just the moment you're going to see that Doran
ends up running up into position to try and get a flank
on towards G2 as well.
But the way G2 played this out is spectacular.
Because what's happening as we start to go through this
is Doran steps up and is essentially trying to use
this trap line to keep him safe,
where he's safe so he can always look for a flank.
G2 decided, okay, if that's going to be the case,
we're going to shift up into this position.
Q-mon is going to hold the fort here to make sure that both owner and Doran are kept out of the fight and there's also the
constant threat here of BB because T1 no the main person in this fight is going to be paged
Yep, if Paze stays alive they can win if Paze goes down
They're in a whole heap of trouble and BB is constantly threatening this flank
But it's the patience that pays off dividends because as they turn on towards faker
What we see is that T1 go right. We need to deal with BB
BB, BB, get the hell out of the touch, you have nothing to do with this, he hides and
seeks so well, whereas it's Doran who ends up getting caught.
The reason is, these two traps, Pays reposition that trap line which got rid of the gateway
and immediately G2 go hang on a second, this Olaf is no longer safe, they turn tail onto
Doran, he's forced to run and it's from this position now where Cap stays here to make
sure that he can continue to mark Doran and it's the rest of this play where BB hides
This bait from Skumon, sidestepping Faker's engage,
enables G2 to turn on towards Faker.
They finish him off and then,
I don't know if this is a reposition
or if it's maybe a misclick from BB,
but either way, BB kind of has to get into position for this fight
and it's here where we get the plate from Skumon.
Pays, connected with wind becomes lightning
and Skumon full sends.
He knows he doesn't have to kill Pays,
he just needs to get that flash
because when Skumon goes down,
We get caps repositioning up into this area because he can then threaten on towards carrying pays and I keep your eyes on broken blade
He dives in on to pay the flash the e the bear trap on the rope
It's man down for t1 and g2 know from this position
They stop the soul they turn the game and it's that fight right there that wins it for g2
I think it was one of the best Western performances
We've had from any top laner ever from Broken Blade.
This guy was an absolute monster.
And G2, you have to give them their flowers.
I think a lot of teams throughout this event
have felt like they're in there with a chance
at the team fight, but they can't execute
against the best teams in the world
when it actually comes to the 5v5.
G2 was able to do it three times against T1
and get it across the finish line.
And what's amazing is when you think of G2
and when you think of their peak
at international tournaments,
it was that element of surprise.
The fact that they were bringing stuff onto the table
that no other team could plan.
They went back to this with the counter picks that they had,
but also the discipline that they had on the Rift for me
is what created the surprise against T1.
And you know what else was surprised here?
Inspired.
Never would he ever have hoped that G2 would make it here.
So it turns out maybe he thinks
he's getting an easier opponent here today.
That's the worst prediction I've seen.
I mean, definitely he was surprised.
So was Zeca.
We had multiple interviews from pro players saying,
yeah, we're expecting it to be T1 coming through
because it had been seven years since G2 took down T1
in a best of five.
So I think it is a reasonable expectation,
but that is the beauty of G2,
is that they have been able to step up historically
in these big moments.
And this year, three best of five wins against CLCK
is incredible.
Yeah.
And here he is on today's match facing G2.
It'll be a really fun game.
Just an ego battle for both teams.
I want to like, I wish I could underline that
with the yellow marker we have,
because I ran up when we had caps on the desk.

Yeah, I mean definitely going to be like a super high matchup as you mentioned, I mean last time I've actually faced Inspired, we got 2-0 in the MSI
And I do believe even though like people might see us as like the favorites because we're going against T1
I think this match is going to be like really contested as well, I think they are like a really strong team so we'll have to do our best to just like keep winning obviously
And yeah, I mean for me it's like going to be a good time to take my revenge from the SMS

I might not sound a direct role, but I'm curious if you give any special thought to going up against him.
I'm for sure, yeah. I mean, I think we obviously went up against FlyQuest a lot with Inspire as well.
And I think now going up against Lion with Inspire, it's definitely very exciting because we're doing it like year after year after year.
I remember in the past we were playing a lot against Team Liquid, but now with Lion coming in, it feels like the Dragon meme,
where there's like C1, BLG, and then there's Lion, you know what I'm saying?
That's the only thing I'll go with.
You know, that Capz is feeling it usually when he ventures like this because that is very unlike him.
You know what reminds me of a little match between G2 and Energy where they were counting their chickens before they hatched?

And I felt like for once they're back, the bet is finally paying off.

We're seeing the Korean Killers back with BNK gone.
We got Gen.G, no T when we've taken off.
Hanwha Life could be next after this one,
and it feels like we're getting that magic back for the squads.
Yeah, and the thing that I want to shout out is just the fact that G2,
after getting stomped by Hanwha Life,
again, with this roster that you already talked about,
Rob, where they stuck with LeBrov, they stuck with Skumon,
they gave them time to grow as a team,
and then they were able to recover from what was, I think,
a very shocking and demoralizing loss for them like credit to the players and G2 coaching staff
for the mental preparation and the actual like in-game preparation they had for T1.
I know you're real what Emily. I absolutely agree but I think this draft you know it's
going to be so big you know the series the draft is going to be so important. BV one of the big
parts of them winning that series was his counter picks and I think sometimes T1 were looking
past that they weren't respecting the counter picks they were blinding Doran constantly
They, it seems maybe even kind of looked past the potential of that cleft coming out.
And that's not something that I do expect Lyon to do.
Their preparation, even in the series lost against BLG, I thought was really, really good.
I think they are definitely respecting G2 as an opponent.
And I don't expect BB to be set up as sick, for success, as much as he was in that last series.
Yeah, and I think I do want to give Doka another small shout out as well,
because it was thanks to his willingness to play these ranged counter picks top,
that kind of changed and transformed Lyon throughout the split one playoffs.
He's been playing more weak sides lately, but he does have a lot of interesting counterpicks
that he is also willing to pull out with himself.
The question I have here though for these counter picks, because it came down to counter picks,
flexes as well between ADC and mid lane. I was talking to Zeus yesterday about this
top lane matchup that we're going to have today and he was saying,
I don't think they have more in the tank. I think when it comes to top lane, when it comes to BB
And he did not even mention the club, but that's a lot of hobby.
But he doesn't think that they can bring more to the ref.
You agree on this?
No, I don't agree at all.
I mean, just look at the list of champions that they have actually played, right?
And I think that these are players that are always going to have more in the bag.
They're players that our veterans have been around for a long time
through many different metas.
So I think if they think it is the right opportunity for it,
they're always going to have something else to reach them.

I think inspired versus Q-mon is the big focus.
I think, honestly, I wanted to give it to Inspired a little bit.
I think Inspired has been absolutely spectacular at this tournament,
willing to bring out the Lee Sin, willing to play for those early games.
But when I look at that support matchup, LeBrov has been everywhere.
He has been the key focus, the mainstay for G2, the most consistent player.
And if he can control the early game like he did against T1,
I think that's where we have this.

now far behind them. I'm Draco joined by Kobe and Jack for what will no doubt be the greatest
and most anxiety inducing best of five in the history of the sport. Every North America
versus Europe match that we ever get Draco's at the time is the most important matchup ever.
I don't want to discuss the finals but this is our final. Someone makes it to the finals.
This is our finals.
It's so rare that we get the number one seed from the LCS and the LEC
with the chance to eliminate each other.
Last year, yes, FiveQuest did beat G2.
That was the number two seed.
So we're being a little technical here,
but the last time this step was 2019, time before that was 2013.
This is only the third time in history
the number one seed of each region has played in the elimination series against each other.
It's so rare, but it also reminds us why so often we have to resort to the little technicalities
to talk about this rivalry.

It's going to be a banger, St. Mary good mechanically,
as is Berserker.
Inspired, look, top-down skewmont.
Well, at MSI last year, Worlds, we kind of glossed over,
given that FlyQuest was falling apart.
But that's a different story for a different time.
As we get into picks and bans, big eyes
are naturally going to be shifting towards the top side
of the map, because Broken Blade and his counterpicks
were the center of the story around G2 upsetting
T1 in that series.
And their draft plan in the T1 series,
I think, was exceptional.
It was also consistent.
They kept the same three bands in all four games of that series.
It was Jace, Vi, and Orianna.
They keep the Jace ban for Jopla, who's good at Jace,
but I will be curious to see how that stays consistent
throughout the match.
Are they going to leave Orianna up with just banning
the Fury and Nocturne off the table?
I mean, they're hesitating quite a while on this last ban.
And Orianna has been devastating at the tournament,
still very early on in the series as well, so.
I'll say that if they leave it up, I think Saint just goes Casio.
It's a matchup that they've been pretty willing to take against other teams.
Now that was, I remember that back from NA finals when they did that against
Quinn, who's not the strongest Orianna.
Caps is one of the best Orianas ever, and it's actually ignored for now.
And that would be an exceptional Orianna combo, and it's a good pick into Orianna.
So they're an interesting first player team.
They're putting the pressure back online now.
Now they're like, OK, if you want to pick the Orianna,
We have one of the champions that is best at punishing low mobility carries or Jarvan perfect Cataclysm options there and if you don't pick it as you said very good synergy with the champion as well so nice little move here from G2 to get a pivot point with the Jarvan kind of avoiding the issue by just saying hey we're going to slam Ezreal and perhaps a jungler as well let the mid pick go later and later prioritizing mobility to get around the Jarvan rather than worrying about securing a very contested mid lane champ.
And we'll see how traditional the bot lane picks day in the series.
I know this has been a very made heavy MSI meta,
but Han Sama, not a great mage player historically.
Berserker has looked good on Ziggs, but otherwise great on AD carries.
And Lyon stays very standard here.
The Ezreal good into Jarvan is in a standard counter matchup,
and the Orianna game of chicken continues.
Yeah, let's see.
It's same thinking, oh, I'm going to play Ari or Yone or something else into it.
With the Kali band, like that's the go-to one
where you put lots of pressure after the Orianna,
but there are other possible options for him in his pool
and inspired with the Zen is going to look for the early scrap.
So the early Anivia pick here, OK, it's still flexible.
It doesn't tell you anything.
That cap is very good at it.
They could put it top.
They could still put it bottom even though we hadn't
done supported Anivia in a while.
And so now we're looking at top for a job.
That tells us a little bit more.
So it could still technically be supported Anivia
if they really want to get spicy,
but it's probably Anivia top and Orianna mid.
That's too spicy. I would just like to say as the G2 representative of this cast, that's too spicy.
No one would give you. Keep the indivisible. No point. No point. No.
Another thing I care about more is how are they going to punish this Orianna that they have left up
and let paired with a Jarvan here.
Yeah.
So, number one, they're going to pick up the Bard here before we're... Oh.
Okay.
I don't know, the Bard would be quite good at trying to get through Orianna Flash and put Kill Pressure on her,
but they want the strong poke lane here with the Karma Ezreal.
And really what Lioner's saying is, hey, we're going to set up our 2v2 so well, we can ban away anything else that can stop us.
And the cost is, you now have this Orianna that's going to be tough to contend with in terms of composition,
and some of the options that D.O.C.L.M. might have into this Inivia, which is expected to go top,
may get whittled away by G2, making his job that much harder.
And they're kind of daring G2 to play a mage bottom lane because it doesn't fit within the current composition.
Like, Inivia, Orianna is already automatic damage, they have to play an AD bot lane.
Back when we were in the kind of 2v2 range support meta, I'd say in split wonder and first-hand Ezreal karma
That was the king combo of that bot lane meta and Iles karma. He was on the train before others
So this is a very very comfortable first three picks for lying here in this game
Oh, and I am definitely not expecting G2 to do any mages bottom land. They already have so much a piece
It is can't do there's a 0% chance that happens plus on some it has also not
You know invested very heavily in those types of champions. So I do like the bar band and trying to take away from possible bar Caitlyn
combination yeah
Limiting the potential to have a champion like bar do can kind of match some of karma's early levels
But also can just get really active on the map a comfortable pick for the broad to do G2 want to match the range support option
Are they willing to concede the bot lane 2v2 just a bit LeBron can maybe play something with a bit more engage?
Not always going to get taken away again. I think the most standard most reliable engage support pretty much
It feels like forever
Maybe dropped out of the meadow once or twice
But that's the priority gt now get one final ban here to maybe limit what go click bring out up against broken blood
They already took the Nara way which was one of his best individual performers in their previous series
Yeah, and a lot of the top laners, you know have been so frustrated with a maybe a top because they're not they're like
Well, what is that?
There's not really something where you're gonna pick and you're going to win
So you pick and you have these other options like the nar and like the casante where you're still gonna be useful to your team
And not lose too much is kind of the goal there. So let's see what line decide to reveal first here
I mean, I'm still on the edge of my seat for this answer into the Orianna from Saint again
He has all these options for looking for pressure. They had the Zen early so they want to see if they can add on one of these
state specialist he is very good Draco this is a very very good champion for
states he has had some all-star plays with it and it got buffed since he had
some really big carry performances in the LCS with it. Agreed but the ego here
is insane like to just to give over Ori and game one say we don't care what you
ban in phase two they end up not throwing any bans because G2 is so comfortable with
the Ori on a matchup and he picks it with like not even incredible ult so far
they'll probably go to Ash Seraphino which will be good ult. Yeah I mean it's
It's gonna depend a lot around how much pressure they can have mid.
I mean that's interesting because I know Percercar and I was very comfortable in the Ezreal
combat matchup into Ash Seraphine specifically.
And they've been able to get the push, land all their poke and try and get that advantage
early on over the Ash Seraphine.
But the G2 comp scales like an absolute freaking monster death ball.
This is a crazy death ball team.
It's going to depend a lot on can lion get their pressure points on these lanes mid and bottom
Specifically, I want to see how inspired
Controls the jungle to be able to affect the mid and the bottom lane
Because if not, I am very very scared of the g2 ball comp
My skepticism is high at the moment because I don't see the Silas or the renecting
Getting pushing either of those soul lanes
So everything will fall on that bottom lane and inspired is gonna have to find some way to get his soul lanes out of jail
in an early scrimmage.
But the story of the tournament, thus far, for Lyon,
the last series felt like a team effort,
but a lot of series before that.
It was inspired and berserker, back to back,
holding the line, making those wins come together.
But as you've highlighted, the good news
is that early Sylas pick, or that late Sylas 4,
did set up to punish some of these alties from G2.
There are some decent options for St.
But the early stages are going to be tough.
If you get ahead with this Lyon comp,
you can no doubt take over the map.
You highlighted it so well, Kobe.
If we go late, if G2 get to scale, if you have to fight into them, God forbid, it feels like impossible task.
And the early jungle passes around mid lane can affect it so heavily, because even if you don't kill the Silas,
if you pass through and you chunk him or you get a summoner spell, Silas has to lane by trading his health at all times,
and so it makes it very difficult then to continue to keep your CS up and continue to be able to lane.
So we'll see if there are early jungle presence near the bottom triangle of the map,
And if there are early jungle focus on the bottom half,
that leaves Nivia alone versus Renekton, chat.
I mean, it's not great, Kobe.
We'll see, we'll see, we'll see.
My anxiety is high, but my hope is also medium.

and my hope is also medium.
I predicted 5-0 in anticipation of any bugs
or potential remakes, but at the same time, you know,
there was one day, it was HLE versus BLG,
or HLE versus G2, it looked bad.
There's one day that was really good,
but those were both just single days.
There's not an overall consistent trend of dominance,
and I wish there was.
First damage?
Just secure comfort, but I'm gonna take this for now.
First blood, first little bit of trade,
technically not first blood, just first little hit.
First damage.
First damage, first damage and bot traded back,
it's an even game.
And that was a big chunk out of Douglas Hellfire.
I mean, honestly, the full electric trade
from Broken Blade, really nicely done from him
in the brush, so already getting, you know,
health advantage here over Renekton.
And Renekton wants to try and build up some fury
off of that wave too to be able to operate.
But we'll see how they go,
because bottom lane is supposed to be our pushing lane,
and it depends a lot on do you land your skill shots
against the Ash and Serafine.
And currently both junglers are pathing top to bot lane
to see if either side can get a really big amount
of chunk damage.
Dokla is gonna be in pain for a lot of this lane phase.
You almost need to find a window to gank
to make that lane better.
Otherwise, Dokla's gonna have a really tough time.
The thing is, I think you have to tell him,
Dokla, you're going to have a tough time.
I mean, is he already dead?
He's getting walked down now, went in for a bit of extra healing
off the cold of me, slicing dice already used,
but broken blade.
Long cooldowns, but a lot of auto attacks
for free when the Renekton is forced to block back away.
Because at least for me, the vision to win the game for line
is around the mid lane and the bottom lane.
And so sometimes you just have to tell Dokla,
hey, it's going to be a tough time.
But we'll see if they actually invest because it's
a tough time already.
Level 3 does make things a bit better, but obviously, there's a reason we're so excited about this matchup.
It is not only natural regional rivalries over the years, but the constant back-and-forths,
the absolute destruction of hope for one region or another.
We're always fighting to take down the LCK or LPL, and pursuit of that, we're usually knocking each other out of the corner.

I do want to focus on the game because we're gonna get a first gank and their pings in mid and they're gonna go mid.

Schumann thought he had the angle just to finish him off.
But a nice response comes out from saying a bit of an overestimation of his individual damage.
Yeah, I mean big mind game there, right? Because Schumann could have EQ'd and flash followed,
but he was trying to not commit to the turret completely. St. able to get his life out of there.
I mean, Sam had actually died to an early gank
in multiple games last series,
so I think really fortunate he's able to survive that one.
And that was one of the early steps
that we brought up from Champion Select.
Can you get an early gank passed through mid
to take away some cooldowns from Silas?
And they do trade their flash.
It is worth for jungler to trade their flash
with the Silas mid,
because now Silas is gonna have to call for jungle support
to get vision around his lane.
Playing into the Orianna without vision around you
would be very, very difficult.
And so I do like that. Iles on his first reset there for the karma
went immediately get the control ward and get the vision through river.
An opportunity now for the next few minutes to maybe capitalize on
that missing summoner spell in the mid lane, especially as cats could closer to
level six. Kuman, as well as inspired both really just taking over to level five.
So it's going to be a bit more time before we get those jungler alties online
and available. Similar story for top though, where Doku has done pretty well for
himself. Probably trying to set up a bit of a freeze here, but once you get past
those first three, four levels, you're not winning the lane, but at least you can
step up, get some CS and threaten a little bit. We're getting stuck there in the
electrocute means that level six the dominance is gonna do some work getting
it ahead of schedule ahead of broken blade is very big but not enough to
immediately shift the lane. The second rune in the Doran's shield have done
massive work for Doku up there and I'd say Saint spent a lot of his health and
his flash to stay even in CS with Kat. This feels like a bit of an early
Drake start at the time but it's a great timing because Saint had already
teleported back to have the initial mid push and the bot lane because they
prioritize this Ezra Karma so much. That's exceptional, Kobe, to be able to get this first drake.
Yeah, our bottom triangle is going pretty well. We do have to still be cautious around this
flash timer from Saint. That is an area to punish, and Skumon is making another visit from his side,
where he is a control ward. But honestly, with Skodal Crab spawning on that top side too,
I think he maybe does a little wrap around here. Now they're going to test Dokla. Looks like he
actually cancels it and they're gonna secure the crab first. Get that level six for the Jarvan.
When you have Cataclysm, then you for sure return to that mid lane and see if you can get some more out of Silas.
Root Connecting.
Exchange for Root as Ash already had propped the slow onto Isles, but neither side able to find 100-0 all in.
Of course Berserker packing the cleanse means it's gonna be tough to find kill pressure in the isolated 2v2 here in bottom lane.
This is a pace of game that Lion is very comfortable with.
I'd say when they were at their best in the LCS, they had the types of games where they just make sure their farm stays up, they keep the gold close.
There'd actually be a bunch of games, even against the mid-tier competition, where they would give over early dricks just to keep the gold even,
because by far and away the strength of this line team is their late-game team fighting.
So they're probably quite happy with how these first six minutes of time.
Dominus burned top lane, Ruthless Predator to keep the stun going, Brocablad
F***ing Altie finds the slow, trying to keep Doka in that trade
but a very positive trade to Doka as we see a potential 2v2 breaking out in the bottom lane
So, a lot of posturing, a lot of cooldowns traded for lane priority
but nobody has died yet, it was importantly the fastest first break of MSI 26 so far
So, very important, really good, I like that side

feels confident to go up to the Raptor pit to get that you know ward and they're
pinging they're they're tracking because of the camps that they saw down
already that inspired is on the bottom side of the map so they feel confident
he's re clearing and they can get this setup for themselves on to grub so I
think that is g2's they're gonna secure that one for sure yeah giving it away and
inspired gonna try and take a little bit of pressure on the bottom side here so
using this timer to maybe try and cut the brawl off or at the very least clear
this vision. Han's trying to backstep. Gets away from the wind becomes lightning. What? Does not hit.
Han's side. He did use his barrier there. Han's side on the line. No arrow. They're immediately
just going to follow him. Instantaneous Crescent Guard. The ulti comes in from the front. It's just
a little bit short. Lion clean. Effortless dive. Follow up ulti coming in for berserker. Just a
bit of chip damage, but ultimately first blood to Lion. The calculation from Lion. You go for

But I think the good news for Lion is, oftentimes when you see top side objectives like the Grubs traded for dragons,
usually the top side objectives also come with a gold leaf.
It's a preserved 20 CS up over Haun, single-handedly ensuring that they not only have started to stack the drakes on a Hextech soul nonetheless,
but they've also got this gold leaf, which while small is significant because it's the difference of having this Trinity Force as real,
a very expensive first spike in the next fight and not having it.
I mean, we look at the gold, not only does it line up with who we think the top performers on line are,
it also lines up with what should be happening.
Like, these are tough-solving matchups that Joklund and Saint are playing.
And look at the map right now. So, they've got the extra teleport for Lyon,
so they're keeping the split push on bottom side while G2 are overloading top.
And Lyon have their choice. All right, are we just gonna trade and keep Saint on bottom side?
It looks like that's the call, and G2 will make the push for the first turret bonus.
So, here's the question. We know that Lyon likes generally slower games,
But I also don't feel like this G2 composition loves to play fast.
Like the Orianna, Jarvan, Anivia, and the Death Ball that we talked about in draft,
they should also be comfortable in a solo pace again.
And I think Lyon really prefer, if they, if it inspires, like, you know what?
Our approach to this fight has, uh, you know, like a 5% chance lower success rate than like a normal fight.

And so they do trade, yes, first turret bonus for, you know, for G2, and they do increase that lead.
Broken Blade is the highest gold difference, of course, with his Adivia matchup. Very nice for him,
of course, with the extra, you know, kill to his name. And we did say how Broken Blade is coming
into this match as the literal hero of Europe with their previous series. Usually it's CAPS,
said you like international caps, but broken blade really shining through and in this game on the
Anivia he could be a menace. Yeah, but it's not enough to have that gold advantage, right? We see
this so often in top lane. 600, 700 gold. If you can't turn it into a greater advantage for the team,
it might not matter much. And the Anivia is not the Kled. It can't single-handedly start fights.
It needs that setup. It needs to have the team around often times. So G2, a lot of pressure on
them for the next strike. Two minutes before they're going to have to fight for that. One minute
until the Herald spawns and we'll see if that's the kind of fight that Lyon are looking for.
Yeah, it's going to be quite interesting because G2's comp is very well set up to handle a lot of the melees on Lion
But Lion also have the Ezreal and Karma poke. So, yes, the Ash and Seraphine and Amivia are very very difficult for like
Xen, Silas and Renekton to have a, you know, fun teamfight in, but they also have some some poke there with Berserker and I also try and work off beforehand
And if they can get a flank, it can be devastating. Saint here, if he steals away one of those big CC ults, but...

to create the time for the arrival of the TP.
And they are inspired, runs towards this bottom lane.
So they're chased from camps, and the rest of them get pincered.
And the new Berserkernals were stronger, so they're the ones that are actually going this fight.
First, Hans-Saman LaGroff can't really become involved in this fight.
And then when Inspired flies over the wall, he's really forcing this fight to happen,
which keeps G2 engagement since St. had the cataclysm at the end. He can end it.
Yeah, I swear, it's just such a big difference of impact from the bottom lanes,
with the Ash arrow hitting nobody, Draco's going wide,
and the Seraphine ult only connecting on one, and immediately getting cleaned off.
I mean, that was immediate reactions there from Lyon and from the rest of the team, they're going to pick up the dragon after that.
It is a huge, huge fight, the domino effect for the rest of the game.
Soul point now for Lyon with a gold lead, a good start.
And I've got to say, I love the smile I see out of St.
The big story going into this year for Lyon was how were St. inspired going to be as a duo.
It's going better than anyone expected in their wildest dreams, and Saint is performing in this game.
Yeah, perfect territory for the fight for them too, with Silas having that mobility in the scrap over the wall here.
Nice little move from him, and Silas had the quick reaction with the Mikaels, the cleanse off from Dokla,
the single hit on the Seraphine ult, so now we're already looking five minutes again in the future.

Look at this. Three pairs of merc treads on the top side of the map,
and then also a Mikael's from the Karma,
so their triple bruisers are very difficult to hold in place,
and then you have a cleanse Ezreal and a Mikael's support,
a very elusive team that Lion's become here.
Very true, and of course the difficulty now is with Lion having three drakes already.
They're very likely to get first set up on the fourth strike and you can see the picture perfect team fight for G2
But you can see the bad version is the version we saw before when they're not grouped up when they can't get all of those
Alties together hitting multiple members whereas lion they can play from multiple angles. They want those little flanks
They want to split G2 up. They already did it once and if they do it one more time it means soul for them
Because the next team fight carries so much
much weight in this game. Yes, yes it does. G2, can they get their dream set up?
The previous fight is anything but that. Their split on the inside route for the
Ezreal Karma means everything and it was the perfect scenario for Lion to come
out ahead. But as you say, if G2 can utilize their vision gaining tools to
hotshot and approach how they want to actually construct their team fight, I
think it could be a completely different story and me and Jack may end up crying.
I mean it could happen you never know how these games are gonna end I'd say the game plan going in though
Lion had to survive the top lane early and not give G2 advantages G2 didn't get the advantages from the mid and top
But lion did get their damage from their bottom lane
So in terms of like rich bets paid off for them lion won the bot lane bet and the Anivia
Other an 11 CS lead and the one gank kill probably not the edge
They wanted and really lion betting on themselves giving up meta power picks like the Orianna to prioritize their two
2v2 winning bot, and it has paid off. Again, the Goldy just shrank a bit. It was 1k earlier
on, but we're coming into this next drake. If anyone wants to go for early Baron, although
I doubt that's going to happen. Next drake, two item powers fight for the Ezreal. You've
heard us talk about this for like a gazillion years of League of Legends, but in this game,
this is the strongest point for Berserker. He already had one good fight. So, as you
highlighted, if G2 can get that perfect Wombo combo setup, they haven't imagined the fight.
They get this vision, if they can fight for it. But if not, it's easy to see how it could
all fall apart.
Absolutely. As G2 has the item power spikes right now, though, two full items for Broken Blade,
perhaps just completing his second item as well.
So they are definitely stronger in terms of taking this vision,
and Lion has to seed control, which is going to make it pretty difficult to get back.
The strengths of these Ash Seraphine comps when they were really in vogue
was, if they're first to a spot, it's really hard to walk in through the Seraphine poke and the Ash follows.

that you're looking at on your screen right there around the dragon and that is key as we said the setup for this fight
Now that everybody is very very very close in power pretty
Even if Sink he finishes second item after getting the rest of the gold from top

We're gonna be even Stevens basically going into this team fight and it is a lot about the setup
So, now though with the reset from G2, they just invested all these control wards and
looks very easy for Lyon to move in and just clean them out, just like that.

St. always builds this item on Silas, even when he's solo AP.
He doesn't have the team benefit from Shred, but I just, I had to point it out,
I don't think it's optimal, it is the same special.

But crucially pushes everyone on the fight to the left so the dope that is fired can push
Schumann out of the pit and buy them time and then the craziest thing is they still have to re-engage after it
Incredible stuff coming from the side of Lyon again the recognition to back away realizing Saint has bought you the space you need to

Instantaneously turning on Schumann to make sure there is no chance for a 50-50
It doesn't matter if Inspire's missed a few if the enemy jungler cannot participate in
trying to take that objective.
A massive fight from Doko as well, well highlighted, Jack, and the damage numbers are only going
up for the side of Lyon now that they have the soul.
Yeah, the fact that Saint escaped back to the dragon afterwards too was crazy after that
commitment in.
Yeah, because that was the ending fight, the beginning fight, like Saint basically won
the two-ing to Kill Han's Sama, getting out of that initial fight with like 10% health,
So he could base and take the hex gates out.

I mean, look at the game this guy's been having.

finds the skirmishes, is currently sitting 5-0-4 in this game one.

Try and farm safely, keep your income up,
try and play off a grouped team fight
up front to back here,
and make some use out of these key ultimates.
If St. is gonna steal your Seraphine ult
and then make the engage and make that much space
before you're able to use your Ash
and your Seraphine and your Jarvan and your frontline,
then it completely defeats the purpose, all together.
For Zerker, just completes Endless Hunger as well,
so four full items on this Ezreal.
313 CS, 10 CS per minute,
one and a half thousand, Goldy over Hansama,
and the Hextech Soul Ezreal poke is just absurd.
Lion, especially with the Karma
and the three pairs of Murk Dredgs,
I don't feel like they're gonna go for a hard engage.
They just need to bait and poke G2
and then take the fight of G2, bring them.
Exactly, it's the dream soul
for this lion composition.
They rolled quite nicely on that one.
And so they're going to do the 3-1-1 split push here,
just a slight variation,
and keep St. on the bomb side with his teleport.
Again, he's a level 16 stylist with his zoneas,
huge playmaking potential, even without his flash.
I mean, 1-3-1 or 3-1-1 is a little bit risky.
A lot of teams, if you're up against a Nash,
you'd want a more 4-1, but they're getting away with it
for now, St. able to get the solo gold
pretty much the entire turret. And now you can see Inspire joining the other four.

shockwave on the Dope. I hope they can get a pick, but it's them
they're kicking off a fight. Kat's isolated, ulti from LeBrav, good,
but an immediate cleanse comes out from the Zercher.

paid for the loss of their inhibitor and the only one they lost at that
that inhibitor was LeBrov-Serafie.

That's a really good play by G2 to be able to have the one

I actually credit most of that to Brokenblade
for trading so aggressively on the one for one
as they're losing the fight on the other side,
because that 1,100 gold is going to be
usable at this elder fight.
It's the window back into the game there.
With the Anivia, they can likely push that wave out far enough
to give them an opportunity to 5v5 at the elder.
Skumog and Paps has a duo.
The synergy when delivering shock waves
have been incredible with it, in key moments.
Let's see if they can fight their way out of a Hextech soul
because even with that Hextech soul
at the last inhibitor, he saw them trying to chase them down,
not able to just finish off a few of those kills.
Some fairly important cooldowns burned as well.
No cleanse on Berserker, no flash on Inspired,
although he does still sit on that GA.
If Caps could somehow get to his death cap before that fight,
it would be huge, but I don't know if he'll have the time.

Sama, Cap's having to respect even a low health St potential for him to re-engage
He'll right back up with that W. So did flash in that previous play G2
potentially gonna be forced into approaching from this choke point now

And now we're going to see if lion can replicate that success as we get ready for a game two and head into champion select powered by HyperX. Gentlemen, the nerves are out with the fear. The fear is alive and well for the European fans because that was an incredible game one from lion.
Game 1 Andy Draco. I've been there as well. You know G2 they've already reversed swept at this very tournament
And they're not even that far into this series anyway, so I expect some alterations from G2 especially for bottom lane
It was a bit surprising to pick the asterifing into the Ezreal
Karma and it certainly did not perform. I think you fans will probably already at this tournament start to have some seraphine
Trauma whether it is Hans piloting it or whether it is LeBrov highlighting it
So I do expect them to take some more proactive approach to this draft
And I'll say I'm just never been more happy to see fearless. They can't pick it
Yeah, we can move on we can pass that portion of this best of five
I think there's a strong desire to see LeBrov on a playmaking champion that last game really was a slow bleed through the bottom lane and
Then Saint and Doka found angles in teamfights
So we'll see what direction they take here as it appears
It's lying with the first ball bars of course a flex nice to have into broken blade and Han Sama
Generically strong 2v2 bottom laner even after the hits
But also has some really strong topside matchup
So that's something that g2 are going to have to get ten with as they debate what their options are in this first rotation

Yeah, and G2, like they can hold their counter pick really long here. Broken Blade has a lot of specialty stuff like Yasuo and such, so we'll see where the flexibility ends up on that Varus, and what sort of counter pick is going for, but we are going to get the Ziggs, the mage bottom lane now.

Look, there's been a lot of times since I've seen Hans play a mage, you know, I remember the Vladimir in 2018, I'm very nervous about the Ziggs, especially against Beserker, who's had some all-star performances on this pick.
on this pick. That said, Zig's very powerful in the meta.
On paper, if I turn the nameplate off,
this is a fine first pick.
I'm just nervous to see if the execution is going to be there
for Hansama and LeBrov.
And one of the biggest things about Mages to me
is that they give your support,
that playmaking opportunity that people are looking for
for LeBrov.
LeBrov, if you're looking at the entire tournament overall,
has definitely outclassed Isles.
And so him getting more time to roam with Anodilus here,
you know, whatever Schumann decides to pick,
pair with the Nautilus there could be just what G2 needed to get back into the series.
And we need to remember that this is also G2, so they might flex that six to the mid.
It was originally a mid lane champion. It's not guaranteed that this is Han's Sama. I
think Lyon wouldn't be surprised by that either. They're the team that flex picks like crazy.
We know for sure that that Ferris is top or bot. We know it's a flex pick.
I will have to say, saying after every single G2 pick that it might be a flex pick qualifies
you to be an LEC caster. It's like the number one thing that you have to hit every time
Is it the Nautilus jungle?
Nautilus made me shout out, Dwayne B, shout out whatever MSI it was that we all did that for a little while.
But we send the debate here. We've already seen Lyona Vars, which if it is the QB2, is pretty powerful in the early lane.
But the Lee Sin, a big, big playmaker for Inspire.
It's a big power pick this tournament, but it's also a pick that I'd say fans of both of these teams don't love seeing their jungle run.
Inspired, loves to be cool and calculated.
I feel like Lee Sin is a champ that just has to take 50-50 skirmishes and outplay you
in order to get into the band, and that's usually not an inspired game.
Sku-Mun had a similar game on it as well, so we'll see what happens here.
They also take the Casio, which was the mage counter that other people have been taking
into the Ziggs.
So those are technically two flexible champions, but it's very unlikely we see an AD bot outplay.
Yeah, with two protection bans for the Casio as well.
So they can just ban away the Syndra and follow up caps with extra protection here for the
mid lane.
Right now?
Getting those extra mid lane man's out and I will say, the stats team was quick to correct
me.
I might be a doubter of the mages but on Ziggs at least, Hansama is 3-0, played it back
in sometime in the early 2020s.
It's not the 2018 Vladimir that I'm lamenting and looking at a stats page now about so a
little bit more comfort there but with double AP as you've highlighted, we are looking to
see a little bit more physical damage in the top lane setting us up for a potentially
more volatile top lane 1v1.
Alright, you get the Vayne out. That kind of opens it up for some other options of some blind picks as well.
So definitely kind of hinting at the possibility of the bottom lane Verus getting a little stronger.
Yeah, they need to find good AD damage in top jungle. Broken Blade has a lot of quirky picks here because the Vayne would have been more of the obvious ones.
The Jace would have been more of an obvious one. Those are obviously banned away.
And we still know that that bear is as a flex although seeing with what is available
I'm expecting that bear is to go bottom lane into the ziggs. We'll just have to see how it plays out getting some
Stressful hovers here that I think are entirely fake
The poppy band away. I do like to see that does make a lot of sense up against the least in in Leona really shoots down their ability to
Make anything happen. Should be an easy lock this in in this nonalysis of flex. No, no, it's an 80 jungle pick right here
Sure, almost fast to go.

It is, uh-oh. Yes, okay.
Pantheon's a great pick. I mean, the Jarvan, the Xen are already gone,
the Vy's band out, Kalisen's there. It's just another one of the Sundersky Jumbres.
And it's not Camille, but it does give you a lot of the same immediate CC setup
if Ziggs is in the proximity in the area, and it gives you another kind of semi-global long-range ability
to maybe punish whatever side laners do come out from the side of Lyon.
Exactly. You already have Ziggs, so you can join fights from pretty far away,
Pantheon Ultimate as well, so lots of potential there for affecting side lanes very quickly and you already have very good wave clear as well
If this Nars locked, I think Broken Blades Yasuo is an inevitability. That's just they're just okay with that matchup
It feels like unless Broken Blade has something else called it
It does point towards that direction and they were more worried about the vein as we were talking about so
Let's see what they're gonna follow it up with some engage. They definitely do want some sort of playmaking here from Saint
He definitely performs very well on champions with mobility, with dashes.
Arya is one of his favorites, but he's also quite good on the control mages.
And Victor vs. Casio, you have the laser range.
You just want to farm it out and scale up to be a big powerhouse in the teamfights.
And we have some flexibility here from the lion team comp overall.
Varus can be powerful like in Victor that power, but still a lot of playmaking.
Now, Yasuo, if it is locked in, a strong lane matchup, and we've seen BB get Dominic Doran,
But if all of the potential counter picks Yasuo is a very sharp champion
He does some things really well and some things really poorly so if anything goes wrong in this top side
You're stuck with the Yasuo on the top lane, which is not a good vibe. It's not a good feeling
He has to dominate high risk
That's never stopped you two in the past Han saw my mages broken blade Yasuo, but they're ready to throw down
I mean the most comfortable picks I see in this comp for G2 is the skumon pantheon and the LeBrov
Nautilus they have very strong mid jungle
They have a lot of playmaking from their support jungle,
and I think that's how they're going to try and play this game.
They do have some good knockups for a broken blade
from the bottom lane, not just the Nautilus,
but also the satchel charge.
Deceptively good opportunities for them
to set up broken blade later into the game too.
And this counter pick is a good counter pick for a reason.
You get to run down the minion line basically
onto the mininar and try and force those plays,
and you have a Pantheon jungle drake goes.
Level six, he can ult in there.
They can make that game guaranteed to happen.
So, Dokla has to play very safe on that NAR.
Luckily for Dokla, he's coming up a series.
We had a huge Mega NAR game,
and we'll see if he can stand up to the counter pick
that they must have been looking at
and knowing is coming,
especially seeing so much of he already on G2,
just playing right into this Yasuo.
And he did in game one crucially.
Now we head into game two,
see if he can weather the storm once again.
course, Renekton wasn't a counter pick,
or was kind of a counter pick,
but he was just supposed to survive.
This time around, it's more of the hard counter,
the Yasuo that comes out against the NAR,
but if Doku can survive once more,
doing something that Doran could not,
it's an impressive feat and gives a ton of confidence
for Lyon in this series.
Yeah, you always honor your top laners
that are going into an annoying range matchup.
He didn't go that far down,
and then he saw a big impact in those team fights
at those dragons, getting into the mix of it.
So, let's see, can G2 bounce back here?
They have been rewarded previously here
with the counter picks from Broken Blade,
and Schumann on his Pantheon, could be huge.
Another quick point I have on Dokla
is he's almost the opposite archetype of player
that usually get prioritized,
like so many players that come in nowadays
are just these incredible laners
who then struggle to side lane and team fight effectively.
But Dokla, to his own admission,
is a very average laner in most situations,
but he knows how to win the game.
He plays side lanes well, he recovers in game well,
and he team fights great.
So I think that's why Lyon is okay saying,
okay, we're gonna blind pick you, the NAR,
we know the Yasuo is coming,
even if you fall behind, you trust me.
Yeah, and so you see there,
Inspired is splitting the map because of the counter pick.
So this is their choice to deal with the Yasuo counter pick.
BB has information though,
you saw that the ward from G2 was placed after the Lyon ward.
So they saw it, plus they know that the ward,
The other ward is there, and Broken Blade off that push, he is kind of hovering back.
He kind of knows this is happening.
He's a nervous man.
And look, we saw the head-to-head between Inspired and Caps, a ton of history, domestically,
a lot of best of ones.
But in the best of fives, Inspired has the edge, courtesy of that 3-0 that we saw at
MSI last year.
And now Ile's getting things kicked off, extending the trade just a little bit.
It's common for Berserker, so we know we will be seeing a bit more poke.
Skimoan on the way, and Aegis is all for movement speed.
Looking to lock up Berserker.
Berserker, no cleanse.
Importantly, Ile's trying to stop anything else from going down.

Almost a disaster for Lyme there as they attempt to extend the play
because the beginning of that play was pretty poor.
They know they're getting map split on and they take very aggressive 2v2 trades
without combat summoner spells, so a good start for that G2 bot lane and Skumann.
Hansama sent bot lane to catch the wave. Now it's the broad wandering in the mid,
but inspired to your first 3v2 in the Gavir line.
Does have the flash, wants to hook to the wall to escape,
but Lyon are just going to respect it.
Good read from Isles to be exactly where Labrov
was setting up St. Now to push out this wave
and an excellent sidestep on the hook.
Yeah, so nice.
Okay, so Scumont has a lot of options now,
especially with Labrov still mid.
I mean, it's only Isles giving St. the confidence here
to stay in the mid.
Inspired waiting over the wall,
starting to walk towards red,
immediately turns his attention elsewhere,
trying to cover his mid laner,
St. Getting lower and lower.
Catches to be careful.
Nice back step.
I'm not sure if he spotted Inspire, but the man just hold on,
forces the Flash out from Isles to a stake.
G2 getting the better of Lyon in that brief exchange.
And Inspire was finishing up the Raptors there,
so he's in the area to save the play as well.
And they get the Flashes out though.
So both supports with no Flashes.
Now, definitely very vulnerable,
but we have to look at Scumon and how he continues this game.
I do like that call.
Go for the first blood on bottom side.
Really get them snowballing.
And it was just after the Braven Hunts,
I'ma have gotten a great trade.
hook combination into satchel charge combo into explosive bomb there from Hans and that
is definitely what they want to see.
And really accelerating the pace of this game.
I mean at the time of that mid game, Schumann was at 12 CS, but he clearly impacted the map.
He'd helped win the bot lane and didn't quite get St. Splash, but still managed to draw
them a lot of pressure there.
She too, doing what they can of course.
Both supports leaving so much means a lot of solo XP for Berserker and Hansama.
One of the nice things about the lethality varus is he uses level ups and skill points almost as well as mages do
So normally we'd see a big discrepancy level 3 and Q for Han Samas a big damage bike
It's not a big damage bike for a lot of 80 carries
But it is for the varus with help which helps keep this push battle pretty close
Yeah, as we see it directly in the middle of the lane and both
Supports hovering on their brush because they know the jungler was gonna have a he got a shot on
He's in the mega still though, it's fired on the way up.
Skumon though, such a low health bar.
And this means Lyon are taking the fight.
Level six for Broca Blade hoping to get something back.
Stacking the Q3 up, needs to lock up Dokla.
He flies backwards.
Broca Blade is nasty with it.
Are you kidding me?
Dokla though wants to turn it back, has the advantage.
Broca Blade running for his life.
He just can't dance around those autos.
And it's Dokla who strikes back.
The teleport was a bait.
Dokla had just a bit of range left on the way.
So, Tokla had just a bit of rage left on that Meganar that landed the CC to set up Inspired.
That is one hell of a wallop on the arrival of the teleport, just the remnants of the Meganar coming in.
And that surprised him a bit. Plus, the timing of Inspired was right there at the arrival.
So, Tokla goes back as he's about to transform into Mega.
And then look at the bar as it's ticking down, ticking down, coming back from the fountain.
He still barely has the Mega.
Look at the vision as well like now inspires and vision as they're already stunned
So they're completely committed to the play they managed to shut him down early
But credit to broken blade for turning this back into a one-for-one
Yeah, clean from broken blade gets a combination onto inspired he went for the level six focus on the minions gets it gets the
Another keep it at the wall is there though. Don't couldn't use all the previous fight broken. What's again? He has been broken
Big dokes with the gnar, building on the gnar game that he had a couple of games ago.
He was already down, broken blade had the kill from the last fight, now 2-0-1, no TP
on the yaw so he's going to be able to shove that in and he's going to lose a whole another
wave and try and snowball this gnar game.
And for the second game in a row it's the counter pick, it's supposed to be the strong
lane for broken blade and initially it looked alright but it is so quickly falling apart.
Look at that XP chart, pulling further and further ahead, almost a full-level overbroken
blade in that top lane 1v1.
It is a bloodbath, North America versus Europe here, and they are throwing hands.
Both junglers getting very active, and now you have Schumann level 6.
Where is this Pantheon ult going to go?
Everybody still has flashes basically online, safe for their support, of course, and mid
lane is the battlefield.
On that thought, I'm watching the replay, there's two fights happening at the same time,
You can see the 1v1, but LeBron, now with backup from this jungler, wants to make this happen.
Nice flyback coming from the same. Excellent mechanics from his pie against LeBron.
Low, Ile's also on the way in, and now it's G2 on the retreat.

All five of Lyon have arrived to the play, and G2 forced to run back to their own jungle.

All broken blade can get back is a single plate as inspired turns his sights on the grubs
Everything going in the favor of Lyon broken blade has to be careful about stepping forward uncertain about how many members are still lurking on the top side of the map
Isles starting and stopping that recall. We look back at this play g2
over committing we're not ready for the response I mean this Victor all into the
inspired kick just chunks them and buys enough time for the rest of wine to
arrive yeah I was looking for a good angle for the caps ulti but inspired to
the early kick and so that's it never really got a good you know angle for his
old early on and then at this point it's just way too late because yeah they've
already chased him down and so with the pantheon ultimate being used that we
we were looking for, it is again going the way of Lyon with the early pressure. Dragon
though for G2, they're going to be able to claim it this time around.
Should be theirs as inspired, had to buy items, go back through his jungle and the lanes reset.
So good job by G2 to still read the tempo of the game and know what they can take.
This Lyon, building that gold advantage, something we've seen them do before, willing
to sacrifice drakes, willing to sacrifice a lot of objectives just to get the gold in
in their favor, often amounts in a lot of these stronger team
bites.
And you can see G2 have the idea of how they
want to play their composition, but can't get all those cool
downs synced.
And if one of them goes around, they
don't really have the damage to burst out that member.
The extended plays is still very heavily favoring Lyon,
especially until Cap gets that first item completed.
The Casio damage just really not there.
Yeah, everyone on Lyon does need
to make sure to stay calm and play on the right timers.
Just because a few fights went their way,
it can just snap back, especially now
that Doka has this 250 gold bounty.
If he gets a little bit crazy, he can get shot down right away
when he's in the middle, and you can even
see that LeBron is right up there looking for a fight.

Remaining control, I think Inspired's timing has been quite good this this game as

to get there for that teleport return play.
These small timings have really made big differences.
I mean, there's so much trust involved in that play, right?
That Dokla is very confident he'll go in on Mega
because Inspired is spending all that time,
and we know how much he cares about efficiency.

We heard Inspired say that he really trusts his laners

He said last year on FlyQuest there were times,

But here, he feels like he can just make the right play.
And we're seeing that calm play and that trust prove itself so far in this G2 series.
That trust really paying off, because remember it was difficult for these laners
at a lot of the earlier stages of this tournament.

Yeah, and I think if we think about the way this game will scale,
Saints is actually a very important player in this game because it's very heavy physical damage for Lyon.
So if we just forecast it out to late game, having strong AP damage would be very important
in how G2 will able to kill him. But also, Lyon with this 3000 gold lead,
I don't love that they're just giving over the second drake.
They clearly have a lot of confidence in their ability to play with the gold lead,
But G2, you should take those two drinks for sure.

these opportunities that he's still just

I think it's just a hover play because they don't have eyes
on the Pantheon, so they don't know if that's going to come in.
So ensure that this Victor that you said is going to be so
critical and 100% agree is going to be able to safely take
the side. But I also really love what they did. They're giving
the gold to Saints Victor like Doku was far enough ahead. He
could have taken the first turn and continue to snowball, but
they know like OK, the Victor is going to use the gold better
than the NAR. So if they have the choice, let's give it to

Lyon really just trying to play on the right timers. Jogla knows he can kind of
zone broken blade off and even in the LCS Lyon would freeze more waves and kind of
any other team. There'd be a lot of games where they would just intentionally
slow the pace of the game down even if they had a goal to damage. So like you
said earlier, Dracos, I really expect them to fight that third Drake, but they
don't need to continue to make crazy plays because they're confident in their
ability to win two fights. I'm happy to potentially expose G2 to risk by forcing
them to come up and respond to these waves. You see Isle's already on the way
down. If they can chip away at a few of those key cooldowns from G2, leverage
some of the advantage they have to take a bit more space as they're doing now.

He can definitely make this game last a while bot lane ziggs the other thing about mage's bottom lane
You get more gold and you get an extra item space in that death cap being so close
does spell a comeback avenue and that multiplier on the AP means that extra
item means even more than it might for an AD carry IE the equivalent multiplier
but you get capped at 100% crit right so need to see if Hans-Ama can get there
it's a tall task but hey if you have to stall a game you highlighted it well
yet a control mage is pretty much the best way to do it they'll still have the
pick potential from the Pantheon Yasuo and Nautilus but line is still gonna be
pretty comfortable with their position in the game. We just got to see if they're able to close it.
The early drakes that G2 was able to secure, just make sure that the game can go quite late.
They have the wave clear, and then they're also greatly delaying the potential soul from Lyon.
So Lyon's going to have to play very well because this went out.
Yeah, and I think their biggest tool is going to be these side lanes with Dokuha having this nice advantage over Broken Blade.
Of course, with all the focus that inspired and the rest of Lion have taken towards this Yasuo counterpicking, keeping Broken Blade down,
does make those side lanes for G2 a lot more difficult to play.

With a cast here on the enemy team, a rapid Baron always has to be taken into account.
And I really like the way G2 has been able to stall this game out, and you know, even if the gold has stayed at 4,000, the percentage of the gold difference decreases as every CS is acquired by G2, so they're not that far behind in items when we do see a fight.
I mean, looking at Cap's completed Saras, the upgraded Mercury treads, he's going to be able to pump out a good amount of sustained damage if G2 decides to find a fight.
Again, the Ziggs with the multiplier with the death cap done, you take that any day over
these nerfed Varus, you know, damage here that you do have as a comparison, even with
the spell shield here picked up for berserker.
You can also say if you find really good value out of the CC of the Varus ultimate, sometimes
that can really change teamfights there too.
So it's not a one to one as far as just comparing the damages, but we'll see at the approach
to the next fight if they're able to get some poke damage done as well.
Of course, max rank, you know, face damage, still okay on that Varus Q, but as you get
later it is the bonus AD scaling that was hit.
Full charge used to be 150% of that bonus AD, now it's only 120.
And those numbers start to add up an extended fight.
So often without, Varus is kind of determined if you can hit those abilities or not.

Exactly, it's all because Inspired was up on the top side of the map for the Leafs in there, so he was never there in G2.

That should give G2 a lot of confidence with Soulpoint, and just the way that extended fight went.
They got the Flash out of Dekla, they got the Flash out of Saint, they got the Flash out of Isle.
So now if they land another hook or if Scumon uses his next ult and a timer,
maybe they can get that one shot on an important player.
And as we said before, the item gap is kind of non-existent in this game.
Yeah, and I think their dream is to one shot same.
The victor here with no flash or the flash out of the river in the previous one.
And with a lot of the flash advantages to the side of G2,
they have a lot of playmaking, but there's still a decent amount of time till that dragon.
So there is time to work with to try and make side lane picks and try and use a pantheon ultimate and see if you can fish around for a little bit more before the full commit.
Very playable situation now for G2B sports again, respect still has to be paid to inspired in Doku finishing up that third item that G4 inspired.
The previous play you highlighted it well right the reason it works out is Doku doesn't get to have that dream gnar moment where you're knocking four people into the wall and that's what can happen if G2 get to start a fight on their terms.
But again, with a lot of these side lane threats, with how powerful Dokla is now, it's difficult for G2 to find those angles without use of that Pantheon Ultimate.
Yeah, it's very scary as far as the pick potential. And when you position your zigs in mid lane here for Hansama, he's level 16 now,
and the ultimate is all that you need to add on top of any of the CC from the Nautilus from the Pantheon.
So you can see Lyon are grouping together, trying to move cautiously around that mid lane.
They know the potential with all that vision control set up for G2. It is very dangerous
I mean line has to overload the mid lane just to make something happen to be able to move into the jungle right now
So they've even lost vision on the baron area. This game is feeling more and more
Like an even game just by the way the map is moving and kind of ignoring what we see on the goal
I'm doing what they can to hold on to mid-prior but again just the two minutes and tell this

you to the promised land. I actually have some real time footage of how it feels to be a European
fan right now if we can check it out. Jokes aside, G2, you need to reset. This is how they're doing
it backstage with DAGDA. Give us some hopes. Once again, if there's any, G2 reverse swept four
times in their history, two of them were this year. Do we think they can do it again here? I
mean, there has to be the one thing that you hold on to, but it doesn't really feel like we're seeing
the same G2 that we got to see against like the top eSports or the T1s. Like we're not getting
LeBron out on the map. Skimond isn't thinking of putting him as well as he could. Bibi's been
found out in the top lane. It is looking dire. I think we have to try and find some sort of
stability there. Easy matchup for Bibi in the top lane, try and get caps going, but try and get
LeBron out of the bottom lane. Like he has been so good when he's on the barred, when he's on these
roam picks, we just haven't seen it this year. You know, a wise lady once said that it starts

One of the biggest criticisms.
Levied against G2 in Meta's past has been that Broken Blade does not play Rumble,
and that he does not play Jace.
While he has littered some games in there to kind of contest that narrative,
it is not considered one of his strong picks, his signature picks, or even one of his good picks.
So to bet it on a potential top-land race
is a hugely ballsy move for G2.
But remember, after the disaster versus HLE,
they bet on BB against T1, and it absolutely paid off.
They might be doing the same here.
And my favorite iteration of G2,
the most successful iteration,
was when they were a flexing pike in all five roles,
and even the coaches were playing.
And so we'll see as they keep it very flexible early on.
But still, the payment for that chase is quite big.
RISE here is looking very good with the current champions out of Fearless and they also are
going to get extra side lane pressure with a bar.
So it's kind of a classic combo having the RISE and the bar really early on does make
your mid game.
You have a lot of leeway inside lanes.

If this wasn't MSI where teams look at Scion's win rate and see that it's 0-9,

to secure the bottom lane, which as, again, we were discussing, Dracos,
the bot lane for Lyon has kind of taken Han's Sama and the Braw out of this series
and the Braw has been such a big playmaker when G2 is at their best
is because Han's and the Braw are like pushing the tempo truly to getting things to happen
and they haven't been in yet this series so again high party by Lyon on their bot 2v2.
I do want to point out Caps is a pentakill already at this tournament on this champion,
Tracos. I appreciate you guys. That's gotta give you something. To give me a lot of the silver
linings, there might even be some gold linings on this particular cloud and Caps on this
Indra is one of them. Now with the Caitlyn locked in, I'm curious if Lyon will even spend a ban on
the mel, right? Not something again that we associate Hans Samuels, but has been a very
conventional and very powerful answer. This card would work really well with Mel Bon.
But, that's a good call out.
They have exactly the topside that you would want to have WAP mid bot.
The problem is, we know these teams have scrims, and if Haunts didn't pick Mel and those scrims,

If they can just corner this bot lane through mid Pryo, jungle, and permanent push and Han
Sama gets strong enough, he could shred through the front.

He identifies the wing condition of the game faster than anybody else and he will change his game for that in regular season

But you still also as Trundle, you always got to keep your own economy good as well.
Gentlemen, one of the lanes that's looking good in terms of trade is mid lane.
But unfortunately, because bot lane is going so well for Lyon, it means Isles has this extra
free time to roam in here and disrupt this PowerPoint.

No doubt the most clutch player on this G2 lineup
might not matter if he's not able to find that 1v1 in lane.

And with those kills, you want all of the damage so that you get the kill for sure anyway.

So their frontline can really really be difficult for G2 to solve

They have the art and sensor the Yunnar art the Lulu alt and really try and run over fight
Especially if Schumann finds a good engage and prioritizing the art and sensor means there's that much more pressure on Han
So I'm gonna play incredibly clean if that bard binding lands

And I think that was a pretty big power spike for g2 to play off of with the unara and the Lulu
Overloading that bot side so they get the turret they get the drake and it's just lion doing a pretty classic line play
Cross-mapping to try and get sainting a little bit ahead so we can put push later in the game
saying 202 not the biggest gold lead against Caps, but definitely going to be a terror,
especially against so many short range champions on the top side of the map.

Yeah, Caps is doing a trailing play at the moment.
They're kind of expecting a move from Lyon.
And so when you keep the center in the fog of war there waiting to see if you can get
a stun from long range, if anybody went to attack broken blade there, they're covering
their bases there.
They're really trying to guess at Inspired's game planning, which has been very difficult
for G2 this series.
The Inspired had the two-camp gank bot, which really set the tone for this game, and has
just been trying to keep Rzurka ahead the entire time afterwards.
The Brav had to flash away from Isle's there.
Brav losing that flash, pretty devastating.
Again, the pillar from Inspired, excellent pick tool, especially because of that extra
bit of movement speed from the Scuttle Crab from the Trundle W, running in to set that
behind. Fallen could be there too. Have not really seen that whole 5v5 fight. Either side
wanting to fully commit, but Lyon getting first setup means G2 very unlikely to contest. Again,
a lot of range with the Syndra, Jace. When you have to move into that fog of war, you are incredibly
vulnerable. Skumon the only one to get face checking. He's going to check with his face.
And now he sees nothing as Lyon immediately back off. And I do think Lyon is not looking for fights
at this particular stage of the game. I think you want two, two and a half items on Dokla if you're
you're really gonna force, but you also want your Caitlyn to have an actual item advantage
over the Unara to show the gold link.
He's just sitting on collector end components, whereas Hansama is essentially as strong within
stronger because of the Ardent Sensor Lulu, so this is a state of the game where G2 can
actually look to make some practice plays because their items give him a lot of power.
Yeah, I'm definitely looking at Scubant here on the Wukong with Flash and ult both available.
Level 11 spike for him, let's see if they can find that pick because mid lane is definitely
on everybody's radar over there as Isles does pass through the G2 vision.
They're going to collapse and not open any opportunities.
But you are looking at the flashless Lulu as a possible hit target.
So have to remain very safe in this vision coverage.

On the opposing side, we take a look at the coin base gold grind.
Of course, Hans-Sammem pretty far Berserker.
Keep in mind that's with the coal gold as well.
So Berserker really had his number in the landing base.
Hans-Sammem doing what he can to scrape together some gold to get to that second item.
And that goal turns into meaningful power with the Infinity Edge being completed here forehand.
So, sidelines being dealt with, Saint's able to get the topside as well.
So that's objective number one for line with this comp.
You know, get those sidelines nice and open and then they can return to the rift arrow here.

They're doing their due diligence here, getting all of the information prepped

some opportunities there.
But again, I'm going to be pretty worried about what can Ialscrate with this Bard ahead
of time.
Maybe they burn some flashes or something, and then it's harder to operate.
I do really feel like Lion has to flank for these teamfights.
If it's Doklaid just trying to run through Jayce, Cinder, Yunar, Lulu, he's dead.
I don't think that's the approach to Teamfight.

pick and lane, like it by Kled, the Yasuo, nice try, you know, actually I had no time, so um yeah, that was pretty
complicated going in. We were talking about how EU versus NA of course is always an ego matchup,
especially when you look at the two Psycho Vassia guys having the jungle on your side and on G2's
side. You played so methodical, controlled the entire series, how hard was it to like fight those
urges maybe to prove a point, playing their face? I mean it was hard for Sane in that,
And that makes me think like, what's that trying to do?

Today a lot of things went wrong. Obviously I think we played very unnatural League of Legends today. This was definitely not the G2 way and I think they definitely played the line way.
There's nothing really I can say, I think they just played a lot better than us today
and they earned the victory and for us we will have to go back and think what we can
do better for next time.
Yeah, you said it there, I feel like we didn't see the G2, that we've even seen this tournament,
the amount of the resilience and the calm to come back in these games versus T1, in
the series versus TES, so why do you think you couldn't activate that G2 today?
I think it's something that we are working on, because it also does happen in the regular
season where we drop our momentum a little bit.
I think it's something I think we've gotten better at, our resilience in the team, and
how we handle unpredictable games basically.
I think it's something that we want to just get a lot better at, and I think today just
was a challenge that we couldn't overcome.
I think they played very good, very unpredictable.
They did some weird stuff that we couldn't answer very well,
and they seemed a lot better.
And it was a very hard thing.

What do you take away from the totality of this tournament,
and perhaps also the earlier part of the year,
where you did get some results that you worked really hard for
and that were really big for you guys as a team?
How do you take the correct things from that,
knowing that your schedule is going to be crazy from now on?
For us, we know that our peak is very high, and we need to work on being more consistently
getting those performances out of each other.
We've shown a lot already that we can beat a lot of strong teams,
but we can also lose to teams that are perceived weaker.
So for us, again, we need to be a bit more consistent on the team play side.
Other than that, I would say the tournament was a success in the grand scheme of things.
obviously we wanted to push harder we wanted to obviously win and it was
looking very winnable but from the last series they gave us a lot of hope and
morale and obviously we are very upset and I mean we didn't want to go out this
way at least we wanted to make it very competitive so I'm also sorry for every
European fan who was watching and cheering for us which is definitely a bit
devastating. Yeah we support you no matter what you all know that can I get a
a word from you about line versus HLE tomorrow because as you said paying the
respects to how well they have played today if they show up like this tomorrow
right how competitive do you think that can be? For me I think it will depend on
how HLE will perform on the day because I'm a bit biased here but they did
sometimes very hard so they definitely have to perform very very well and I
think actually we have to underperform because I think HLE is a very very strong
team, especially on an individual level, I think all the laners and the jungler is very
mechanically skilled and they will play to outplay you.
So if they get that, they get leads through that basically and then they snowball that
very well.
As for Lyon, I do think they got leads even against the good teams.

I mean, I would love for them to beat an Eastern team so they can talk back to us, you know.
