open at number five kicks off on our Friday show we're going to be chilling out having
some fun watch party style kitchen all the best action from all the best games welcome
into our quick little pre show before we get to the games I'm Lee and I've got stacks
and gas with me look at you guys you guys are cute you'll imagine little outfits.
Yeah, we're here on the Friday show. It's time to get these going.
Me stacks at the locking because I mean the matches today. I want to see some dogs here
for some rocket league action on this North America Friday. But me stacks. How you doing?
How you doing? Hey, the best part about Fridays is the upsets energy is never in prime form
on Fridays. So this is when if they're going to be vulnerable, if they're going
to get dropped down to lowers, you'll be right here. And then it throws the entire
rest of the bracket in the chaos. I'm ready. I'm here for it. I mean, tell me about I came
off the European weekend last week. I saw some upsets. I'm hoping as deliver over here in North
America as well. I mean, we saw the first open. Let's take a look at where we're at, though,
because I said that we already had the first open done for North America. We got that fourth
one out of the way as we head towards Paris. Major Dazz. Now we're in open number five.
Right now, as we get ready to get toward that Paris major, right? Kind of halfway through.
This is where things, I mean, these opens already so importantly, but now it's going into a different level because people are going to start to push themselves a territory where they can start to qualify for the major, then some teams maybe even can lock in worlds if they make the Paris major.
There's all these different things. This is where the gap really starts to break away.
Well, I mean, the stacks, I mean, the Paris major,
that's what it's about.

Yeah, everybody should want to be there.
You know, Lada Fox Arena, I mean, that, again,
I was there when Carmen sold that place out
to just run a bunch of show matches.
Imagine what, you know,

to watch the best players in the world.
That building is electric.
You do not want to miss the Paris major.
Well, hey, let's see what we're at right now.
Dad, so when it comes to the points,
obviously we got one out of the way.
What are we looking at right now?
Okay, these are the current standings here
for North America in terms of the race to Paris.
And of course, you're looking at the standings.
They seem pretty normal,
but take a look at that number six spot with M80.
M80 is not playing today.
They failed to qualify into this GSL group stage.
So now that's gonna leave a big gap.
You got teams you look at
next to new eSports, Dignitas,
Gen G, Virtus Pro with a terrible loss last open.
Now, what a chance to kind of push themselves back
into that conversation.
They need a good performance here.
And it made me kind of left a little bit of room on the table
for somebody to take their spots.
I think things are a little less tight
when it comes to the season overall.
Obviously, still spots can be opened up here.
Nothing's going to be in lock yet,
but you look at that four spot.
Unless the European region stacks,
they only got those four.
Yeah, there are four spots that will, you know,
the four spots that will go to Paris.
Of course, you keep an eye on foot, man.
You know, they got eight points from top four before.
If they go top four all three times,
really if they go top four,
I think all three events here in the, in the split
and managed to top four in Paris,
which is a big ask for them.
Why is it a big ask?
It is huge, but that's, that's 40 points.
That, if Verdes pros lifts up this weekend,
and if they don't go to Paris,
All of a sudden that number becomes very interesting
and you know, Vertus may need to have a really good event
like we would have expected from them coming into this split
to not lose their spot at the World Championship.
Stax, I'm telling you right now, it's not gonna happen.

Let's take a look at the groups, though, as we get closer to our kickoff here.
As a reminder, we're going to be jumping from group A to group B.
We're going to start with group A, though.
Look at the schedule in a second year.
But just so people know, we're going to go all the way through group A here.
We're going to do that first four rounds, then the next four,
and then those last two to get a four qualified teams.
But looking at this bracket right off the bat, Das,
How we feeling about these matchups right now?
Well, I mean, there's Bragg in the stack.
I mean, if you look at the foot next to new eSports,
that's a crazy one to start things off.
Gingy versus NRG.
I mean, I know a lot of people think that that's pretty one-sided,
but Gingy has upset NRG before.
This exact roster, it was in a Swiss stage,
so they have some potential.
I don't know if it'll be the same going into this.
I think I would easily back NRG, but you never know.
And then again, the shaky vertus.
Again, we don't know how they're going to do in their match against the immigrants.
immigrants being made some upsets then you go to group B and then you start to kind of look a little forward to group B
Which could be a mistake, but dignitas. They've always been a question mark. How are they gonna look?
Potential matchup with them in SSG depending on how SSG and strictly business handle and then rebellion you're looking for
improvement upon open for seem to be trying a new place out now
Let's see if they've refined that and they can really start to dominate and just sail their way through group B
It's funny because you just look at it and just look through some of the rosters on this that groupie
It's like okay
We got we got invasion going on from from all the different regions the players in that
I says that was you snack saying something about like how many players are actually no no
No, there's Jordy's it was Jordy's who's saying that game on yeah, just like what I order the players are not even from North America
Which is yeah saying
Yeah, that's wild. I don't know what to think about that at this point
you know, it's there.

What's going on here?
Let's we'll see what teams end up
at the top of the bracket by the end of it.
But yeah, this is what they're fighting for.
You've got points being incredibly important.
Both of you guys were just talking about this
when it comes to the both the season
and when it comes to this Paris major overall,
you're going to want to get as far into that bracket
as possible.
You drop out early on thinking anything.
Shit, got a couple of bucks in your pocket stacks.
But like that's not what you're looking for right now.
Yeah, you know the money is nice the points are nicer because the points give you more money
And it gets you the trip to Paris it gets you the trip to worlds and again, you know in the second half of the season
You get more points so you can kind of make up for a lackluster first half of the season
Uh, the second major if you're only going to make one
The second one is the one you want to make to give yourself the best chance to steal a spot and go to worlds
Yeah, I mean you talk about the like you said still spotted go to worlds
We are going to learn very soon if not this weekend a lot of teams are going to be out of that contention to the world championship
Yeah, I want to remind people how it's going to work today

There's a few matchups that that look good
overall
You know we I think
Specifically as you were mentioning right off the bat, you know energy
Maybe that's a team you want to watch especially on a Friday. Yeah, I mean these first round matchups
You do kind of wonder okay
What kind of former teams you come out with sometimes some of the top teams in NA can start a little slow
So then maybe things kind of change between the series and like I said, Genji NRG, that's gonna be a matchup where Genji is gonna do their prep work at least going into it and we can see how they translate on game day.
So that's one to look at. Like I said, next to new and foot definitely. I mean, next to new. A lot of people, I think I have them as their dark horse team that kind of under the radar.
But there is a lot of talent on that on that squad. And I think, you know, them versus foot again, how do foot look the one of some tough competition to start things out.
things out. And then of course, we talked about Virtus Pro, the
implications, they have to have a good run this event. Can they do
it? Can they go out of the gates? So lots to look at in terms of
today. Yeah, I think it's a couple good storyline stacks
that that we're going to be able to hop in and out of here. I
like that there's a lot of teams with something on the
line. And you know, it's fun to like, have that locked in.
Oh, here's our best teams. I know what to expect. But
also, having storylines right down to the wire, being on
the line. I think that's what we're here. We're here to watch some storylines. Right.
So for me, I got the VP at the back of my mind the whole time.
Yeah. Well, and, you know, keep your eye on a team like next to new. I mean, they're
they're an org that's actually like putting a lot of focus into the Rocket League team.
You don't, you don't see a lot of these orgs with teams that are kind of on the
edge that have like, you know, the level of support that they have. They've got
a coach. They've got a like a performance coach or a mentality coach. Like they've
got a lot of support there with next to new and I think it's kind of showed here through
the the first open and again everything starts zero zero I give them at least a puncher's
chance at making a run here okay right off the bat then since it's it's Friday anything
can happen we've seen it in both regions even outside these three regions here North American
Europe upsets are there any teams that shouldn't be in the lower bracket from this first
round you feel like could end of the lower bracket I mean I think you have to count
up to the Gen G NRG one, maybe because unless you think maybe NRG might end up down there,
is there any, any upsets right up there?
Okay. The way you phrase that was a little rough because it shouldn't be down there.
But that being said, like it's, I think it's the various matchup because it's just the
inconsistency that we've seen from them so far. Of course, you know, they bombed out
Open for but then in Swiss last week they went five games with SSG and one so you're like
What furnace are we getting today? Where are they gonna go and immigrants is not a slouch of team cream speed hazel?
Like we this is a matchup. They should for this should win
But if they are slacking they will lose
This shuff shuff a shuffle always has this guy's ready to go. That's all I'm gonna say

I don't think anybody expected to put to be as good as how they were out the game.

I just still expected them to be better than GNG.
I thought it was a monumental fumble, letting Justin go.
I feel like now, because we talked about it yesterday, I think now people do see that.
People are lowering their expectations on Gen G, but is that a mistake?
Right now they look pretty solid in form.
They did give up one early here in the NRG, but ever since that early goal, they've kind
of picked things up.
That was not the best session I've ever seen.
I mean, if you're looking at team, okay, there's there's too late. So I was gonna ask what what's the scoreline you expected like it
If you know, this is an energy not having about Friday. What's the scoreline?
Oh, it's not having a bad Friday!
Oh, they're having a very good Friday. Yeah, I don't expect this. I don't expect this to look much better
better. Man, listen, I'm gonna be honest, what I'm looking at right now, NRG got a strong
foothold. Are the early matches that we got going on in the rest of the group looking like
close to them? Yeah, I want to pull those up right now. I'm still trying to get all
the links on my end here on my computer. So, we can see the two goals in the first
90 seconds.

I love the way NRG moves
because it's everything is with purpose.
It's just so much intent,
the way that they play around each other.
It's not just as simple.

everything just so fluid and that's why they're like such a strong top team one
of the best teams in the world and even one of the best teams potentially all
time because of this team being together for so long they have a level of
chemistry that no other team can get that's all about defense right I mean
yeah they they overwhelm you on the offensive end and that of course works
defensively for you as well but they don't concede much. They don't give you
many opportunities. They certainly don't let you convert on many opportunities.
Both NRG and Space Station a couple weeks ago were the two best defenses in
the tournament. No surprise they finished where they did.
Yeah, but look, so we got no movement on the other games so far.
Say with this one. I don't mind watching NRG work, okay?
It's just like we're pre-jump passing, we're forcing too well.
Gantt throwing a shot on it, they have the defense stretching right now.
It's really just amazing to see.

you know, there is a lot of mental toughness that you don't always get to appreciate if you don't,
if you don't know the players as well, and see their history and wants their come up,
And see exactly what this means to all these competitors
That is true. That's why these match days we try to emphasize how poor these match days are because it doesn't matter
That connection I love that connection you just dream of getting a pass like that. Oh

Okay, if this is the hardest part we're getting this weekend, we're going to be in for a very
interesting open five.
Let me tell you something.
You're going to make things very, very spicy when we get into our upper semi.
The NRG.
Because it's looking like it's going to be NRG birdies.
And the birdies are connected in the way they are right now.
I mean it's good! It's good! It's just gonna be a bit of a different beast!
But it should be very entertaining.
Yeah, I mean, on a Friday too, I mean, I don't see that as an undoable thing.
Like, I definitely could see a quick early qualifier for VP.
Maybe it's the bias coming out, but like, I do think it's possible.
I mean, the movement just looks really good.
They're playing fast, they're playing for each other.
Like two-piece, he looks kind of awkward,
but he's also not.
Like, he's still playing the way he's gonna play.
Look at this, they're low boost,
so they're gonna play these fifties out.
Not do, no heavy touches here.
They play it close because they make sure, okay,
we don't want immigrants to get any type of boom ball
or any real close possession.
Let's keep it close, buy time for everybody else
to get boosted, then once someone's boosted up,

with NRGP you know they have part of the bracket for them. 10 out of the 15 games in this first set of matches
Which is decided by just one goal.

be a little bit uphill battle for them but I believe in vs pro and yeah obviously like
you said immigrants and Gen G mobile down down the lawyers there turtle do you think
that that one's gonna be one to keep an eye on too?

for some other teams to drop out.

This is gonna be incredibly important for them,
going up against NRG.
They're not worried about where NRG's position
is in this right now.
They're worried about theirs and getting a win
because that's gonna be a qualification match for them.
So we've got qualifications and eliminations on the board in this next round.
And then after this, we're going to finish up group A by going into that final
string of qualification and eliminations.
But we do get our matches ready now as we get to our game one brought to you

they're trying to they're North Americans so they want to win in their
region right I yeah I do want to mention that what I've seen in the
game in front of us now you saw some blowouts in the other two matchups
that are happening as we jump around watch party style all these games now
Now down into the VP NRG match, we're seeing a lot of physical play.

VP, NRG, this is the one I think all of us were eyeing
to be the best of the upper brackets,
and it has delivered, Jordy.

And yeah, this is a big series, Virtus.Pro and Energy are going to feel different types of pressure.

Now it's a matter of who is going to be able to close it out.

of maybe where it's pro maybe talk can figure something out over here
that feels like a typical game five each side playing with good amount of
Caution in the rotations that one almost slipped across from the corner
But neither side do want to over commit
Because once things start rolling and snowballing it doesn't usually end up well for you in these game five situations
Just about hitting that halfway point and way he's got shot on target, but there's two players in net NRG
Smooth on the defensive side, which we have seen a couple of errors on the defense from energy
I think that's the one spot that VP could exploit if they wait for those awkward touches out of the defensive at MRD.

You know, we got to get the ball going get on the net
out for the day, but first of all really putting up a challenge and a half against
NRG here. See how their defense is gonna go. It's gonna be awkward, but Poc's gonna
get that one off to the side for two-piece, and now we might have a little bit of a
grass are coming on here as the ball rolls near the net, but doesn't become
dangerous. Where Espoir really needs to figure something out to get around
NRG's defense or else NRG is getting that ball in the blue net.
Yeah, at this point it feels like it's a matter of a counter attack for VP
How much energy have been able to steal the midfield boost and keep that ball? Yeah via blue half, but
Funny, I don't know. I feel like VP just as I was making that point
He tried to fake that and we recall his bluff and drove off to the side. How is that not in the net?
That was such a good play from Daniel as well to break off the defense of Verus Pro.

Also, maybe some communication problem on who's going for that ball there,

Although the bot, not making its way into the end of the net, they're really figuring out each other's defense, but just not closing it out.
And that is why we're three minutes into this overtime.
This is getting so intense that I can probably feel the tension from all the way over here in Scotland.
I do like what I'm getting out of VP's defense as well.
Since Beast Mode has been so stellar behind the ball, they're challenging him immediately in the air.
As soon as he jumps up or goes for a solo play, he's right there.
But beast mode sneaking around talk much longer will the silence continue for both teams scoreless
We had a full five-minute match then an extra three and a half minutes of OT and the clock keeps counting up
Yeah, and honestly PPs been in some dire situations like sitting on goal line the South before just with no boosts with the ball
Angling at their crossbar. We've seen that multiple times now
So many opportunities and some of the he keeps holding on
Wow, they're doing a great job at it too. I mean, you know, they haven't lost yet. This is still a triumphant
Success in some way not being instantly scored on by energy and holding on for four minutes over time
But you can see energy and they're placed out. They're getting a bit restless here
They're throwing everything ever is pro and nothing's really working and it could be about our time here until we see maybe energy
losing their patience trying to get this one and close out the game but again
Virtus.pro just not letting them have that moment. That was a good slam over to
wavy there. Yeah VP every time they do get it clear it does look like they're
finding somebody on the other side which is what makes their counter attack
so lethal. A lot of teams in these situations where they're buried in on
defense will get a lot of touches but won't find each other.
Oh, NRG, it's like, you can see them getting closer and closer to this goal.
They're creeping, they are creeping.
No, like, I'm, if I'm putting myself in the position of VP right now, I am so nervous.

and seeing how it's coming your way, but you can't find something.

and some were so questionable.
That was what I know is they both hesitated on the ball
And it didn't even get scored on, but yeah, some great goals
from this series.
And now we have Virtus.Pro going top six and Energy going down
to Loris.
Yeah, but also qualifying through, they had a 3L.
So they locked onto this one.
They dropped a LLV down into that lower bracket.
I mean, I expect, even though we know the team depends
on LLV, we expect this foot roster to win this.

is a very big confidence booster if you're a fan of them
because it wasn't a game that did go the distance
when they should have taken the W.

we have the Air France up against Gen.G Mobile One Racing.
This was an elimination matchup,
but Gen.G, who have the reputation
and all that experience did walk away with the win,
but it wasn't an easy one.

was a good for for to next to new you know they drop a trio on this one stay alive in the tournament

they're coming up against the likes of energy so what do you even do about that at that point
how do you prepare for a match like that well I don't see you're kind of shaking up I would
but assume after an eight minute OT loss,

We are in Group A of our Friday watch party hangout session
for the Open to the Five for North America.
And we have some close series there, some 3-0s.
Again, as expected, but man, we have a good
Best of Five there over time.
Eight minutes into it with NRGV.
People talk about it in a sec.

Jordy's, that was quite the game.
I love Game 5 over times and Virtus.Pro and NRG really showed how it's done.
That was a fantastic series and I'm so glad that I got to win that first hand.
Yeah Stax, you didn't get to be a part of that. What are your thoughts?
I didn't get to be a part of it but I saw all 13 minutes of that last game and man, oh man.
How many times did Virtus.Pro came close to ending it?
How many times NRG came close to taking Game 5 and in the end
I was a talk shot at the end that finally puts them through that's huge for VP man
They were the team that I was looking at like if anybody could get caught it by some miracle run that might be them
This this really gives them a massive boost

But for real get your tickets because imagine how intense that would have been in a land environment
especially a French land environment that would have been insane
We're not there yet.
We still got some games of Rocket League to get through.

We have two more series that we have to get through here in the lower semi finals.
These are qualification and elimination.

NRG is looking to solidify their lead.
to lead, but everyone else, they want to catch up.
Yeah, they want to catch up and, you know,
NRG are going to feel like they're pretty comfortable,
even if they fumble here.
But you don't want to be in that spot.
You don't want to be in that spot.
I know a lot of people are going to be, you know,
next to new fans coming up here because, you know,
you can keep NRG at bay.
Then, you know, that's one less team that goes up
over 20 points by the end of the weekend.
And maybe, you know, have a little bit of hope.
But, again, I go back to that win for Virtus.Pro,
just how important it was for them to guarantee top six.
And yeah, there's still a whole other group of teams
that are watching this particular round very intently
to see what the teams around them
are gonna be putting up.
Well, also massive for Foot
to continue to hold their strength in this region right now.
Because if they were out at this point,
then, yeah, VP could easily start sliding up against them there.
And we've got, of course, Shopify Rebellion over in that group B as well.
So, yeah, it's tight right now.
Every win is important not just for winning, like, for instance, VP against NRG.
Hey, we beat NRG, we need these points right now.
That is so important and should be at the back of all these players' minds.
But Jordy's, we look at, again, the bracket, Group A.
We have our qualified teams up at the top there,
and the first pro in foot
eSports, which is crazy to
think that those are the two
teams qualified in the top
when you've got a team like
NRG in the bracket. Yeah, I
mean, fought for their bracket.
I think it was a bit more
expected for them to get out
there on top six, but various
probably not the favorable
one out of that bracket.
Arguably they had the
hardest bracket with the likes
of obviously NRG being in
there, Gen G and immigrants
as well. Um it was it's
slightly unexpected. I want
to spot a huge triumph it went over energy nonetheless gets that through and it does like
you said gets them a little bit further up on that leaderboard for points yeah i mean we're looking
at these dude stacks do we think there is an upset here i mean if i'm if i'm putting it in now i'm
thinking we should have for sure energy but what about the the LOB match uh with jen yeah i mean
I mean, huge for Gen G to come out on top over immigrants especially after open floor.
Yeah, I mean, I still think that they are a candidate for an upset.
I'm not as confident in NRG in this upcoming matches as everybody else is.
They played incredibly well, even in the Lost 2 Virtus Pro, like VP is kind of their
kryptonite, especially not on Sunday.
Again, I really like this next to new team.
Do not sleep on them.
They are not going to make this easy on NRG at all.
Sure.
And again, if they can even get a game,
even if they don't win, like maybe two of those,
or keep at least a scoreline close,
that'll feel good for them here.
But in case you're wondering where we're at on the day,
we're about to hit our halfway mark.
We have one more round to get through,
and then we're halfway through.
We're just going to finish off group A here
before moving over to group B.
We'll start that off right after this,
but we'll have to figure out which last two teams
going to be sending through and if you'd like to watch one of these teams directly the whole
way through throughout the whole day, however, the team streams many of them going on, but you
want just the tight action that over times in that, you can stick around with us. I hear
someone about the people up there. Well, some just a quick thought I had is about how this
how this presentation of Friday affects everything as well mentally. You're watching
Group A in its entirety. If you're a Group B team now, those first round matchups are incredibly
important. NRG, if they win here, are going to be in the lower bracket, waiting for somebody
out of the other group to come down. And so for a team like a Shopify rebellion, you cannot allow
yourself to drop down. Space Station really don't want to allow yourself to drop down. Just
just puts a little extra pressure on these teams
to make sure they take care of business
in the matchups they're favorite to win.
Well, we ended up seeing that Jury's with Europe as well,
you know, with that K-Corping,
the lower bracket matchup too.
That's something we probably want to avoid here
for some of these teams,
but we do have our last round of group A
about ready to go.
Two matches, a little easier to follow here.
So we'll have to do as much jumping around.
Remember, team streams are there,
But four teams now trying to find those last two qualification
spots.

I mean, Energy's gonna have a little bit of a wobbly entrance into the series.
Obviously, losing in the last one against Virtus.Pro for top six.
So this is gonna is next and we're gonna prioritize on that their recent loss
Energy's recent loss and kept trying going as quickly as possible and start their series strong. I
Think this is the best team in the region that nobody talks about
By far, you know, I mean you're done. They're other there are them, right?
But there are the middle of track teams of this kind of you know
They don't get a lot of attention and you know there's kind of a reason for that
They don't have many results back it up
They don't have many near misses even to back it up
You know they they roll over and pull against the top teams a lot these guys don't they played everybody incredibly tough so far
since getting signed to the sword and
You know so far over the you know the first open and a half of this split
They've been an incredibly tough out
Well, we're going to see how they do against the likes of NRG, obviously this is an elimination
match, so lots of pressure for both teams, especially maybe a little bit more on NRG,
which could benefit next to NU, we could say as well next to NU they did go to run 5 in
the Swiss as opposed to NRG only losing through a dignitas, so this could be a little bit
of a build up for next to NU, especially if they can get good momentum against NRG
in the series.
Well, I think the other thing you've got to think about too is like, where do we rank
Dignitas to next in a right?
Do we feel like they're close in level?
Could this happen again if they've already dropped to a team like that?
And the fact that, you know, next to news not coming off of super easy matchups.
I mean, the immigrants, sorry, they played that as fellas, fellas are the easy ones,
but they came off of foot before that, who's already qualified.
We've had some good games today.
And uh, and Percy, by the way, both at either a goal per game or more, and it just continues.
Percy's got a ball in this game. He's got, I think this will put him up to 10 for the uh, for the day.

So just feeling like you're truly being invested in as a team, something that can be rare,
it's what makes it difficult to be a bubble roster in any region, not just North America,

last two spots as we close out the day. Yeah, at least there's mostly consistency here in NA.
Yeah, I want to just take a look because like obviously these elimination matches, if it's super
important for some of these teams in terms of like their split overall, we were mentioning
how close these teams were in points because it's true and staying alive and this has been
incredibly important now. Again, even teams like like M80 that aren't out of the picture
yet not being here is massive. But then losing right now, like for instance, one, if they
drop out, I mean, you look at Dignitas, if they drop out like this stacks is incredibly
important for these teams to make tomorrow.
Yeah. And you know, you look at the teams that are waiting already that for bracket
already guaranteed top six, you know, you get your furnace pro who's, you know, that last
that last spot in the world standings that would go and you've got your rebellions. You've
got foot that's trying to make a run at least Paris. That's what you got to contend with.
And those guys all being the four teams already in top six is not helping these guys at
all. So somebody here in the lower bracket and Group B has to make a serious, serious
just run. Yeah, it's going to be a very important set of series for these guys, elimination and
qualification, both on the line at the same time, because that's what you're playing for
tomorrow. You want to not fall behind your peers and have to make it the most difficult
situation you ever could during that open sex. There are more games to play, but it
couldn't end up in a situation where one of your peers gets far enough along in
tomorrow's bracket that it doesn't matter for you anymore. So for today, I mean,
