[00:00:00] I gotta eat quickly before this dude gets cold.
[00:00:04] All right, that's it.
[00:00:05] This how you do the dishes when it's cold out.
[00:00:10] All right, that's good.
[00:00:16] Got some orange zest herbal tea.
[00:00:19] I gotta tell you, it smells like the best thing in the world right now.
[00:00:25] Oh, my goodness.
[00:00:30] Oh, that was the best thing I've ever drank.
[00:00:34] I brought a couple more of those tea bags.
[00:00:36] I think I'm going to use them up.
[00:00:38] Ooh.
[00:00:40] I just spilled boiling water on my hands and it didn't hurt.
[00:00:45] That's how cold I am.
[00:00:47] I'm going to go put this hot water in my sleeping bag.
[00:00:50] Get it warmed up.
[00:00:51] I got little drops of beef stew on my jacket.
[00:00:54] Luckily it froze and so I could just brush it off.
[00:00:57] I should all, you know, silver lining on everything.
[00:01:03] I brought these down booties to wear in the tent,
[00:01:05] and it will be warm right now they're freezing.
[00:01:14] It's got my down booties and my puppy pants on.
[00:01:17] Let's get in the tent.
[00:01:20] I got to pull out all my night filming equipment here.
[00:01:23] All right, you got these adhesive bodywormers.
[00:01:28] I'm going to bust some of these out.
[00:01:30] Stick them on my undershirt.
[00:01:36] Oh my toes are so numb right now.
[00:01:38] I've got my hot water bottle down the bottom of my bag.
[00:01:42] I can barely feel it.
[00:01:43] But what I can feel feels good.
[00:01:48] Guys, it is no joke cold right now.
[00:01:51] And says it's negative 17 on this mountain right now.
[00:01:55] This is gonna be a no joke freezing camp out.
[00:01:58] So that's only about six o'clock.
[00:02:00] Not quite my bedtime yet.
[00:02:02] So I'm gonna put on some audio books
[00:02:04] and eat some liquorice.
[00:02:05] Now I'm gonna call that a good time.
[00:02:07] This is how I party.
[00:02:10] Whoa, that's so cool, you know.
[00:02:15] All right, guys.
[00:02:17] Well, guys, it's about 10 o'clock
[00:02:18] and my cell phone says it's negative
[00:02:20] 24 degrees outside. It is so cold. This tent is just cake and ice. All the moisture from
[00:02:29] my breath is immediately hitting the walls of the tent and turning into crystals.
[00:02:33] The hung way glasses at the top of the tent and look how much frost is gathered up
[00:02:38] on it. But other the fact my pillow keeps leaking. Everything is holding up pretty well.
[00:02:44] It's pretty late. So I think I'm going to turn this off. I'll give you guys updates in the morning.
[00:02:49] good morning. Oh, it was so cold last night. I took a screenshot of the
[00:02:56] temperature around midnight. It was negative 26. But the sun's come up and now
[00:03:02] it's a ballroom negative 23. The inside of my tent is so covered in frost.
[00:03:08] Those look like they could take my skin off if I tried to put them on. Look at all
[00:03:12] of this frost. Oh, it's thick. Oh, the worst was I kept having to get up to use the
[00:03:18] bathroom last night. When I'd sit up and I'd touch the walls of the tent at all it would just
[00:03:23] dump this frost snow on me. Get in my bag, get in my face and everything and throw the
[00:03:29] that up. I'm happy with the rough night's sleep because it is legit cold and this is a little bit
[00:03:38] more than my gear can handle. I had to stay in one position if you roll around too much. You get
[00:03:43] colder bits of pieces of me would be really cold. Well then they'd be warm but I won't go
[00:03:48] with my ankles just really cold but my feet hot. One hip would be cold and the
[00:03:54] other would be warm. It wasn't bad, it wasn't freezing but it was just enough
[00:03:59] for it was a hard to sleep. But I can tell it is brutally cold and I don't want
[00:04:04] to get out of my bag. I might just stay here for just a little bit longer.
[00:04:18] Why goodness?
[00:04:24] Oh my hands.
[00:04:25] My fingers are so frozen.
[00:04:27] I can only have my hands out of the gloves
[00:04:29] for about four minutes before they're just toasted.
[00:04:39] That's just don't work well at this temperature.
[00:04:48] Got some biscuits and gravy, but it's still a little bit crunchy, just can't cook it
[00:05:07] well enough at this temperature.
[00:05:09] Here's what it is, it's food, and it's moderately warm.
[00:05:14] Alright, gotta start putting things away before my hands freeze.
[00:05:23] This is probably the warmest backpacking man I've ever had.
[00:05:35] Ex-ped makes it, it's the Durah-8R, it's pretty bulky for a backpacking man, but for
[00:05:41] winter camping it's awesome.
[00:05:43] This is the extra long and extra wide model.
[00:05:58] There's the absolute worst part, I've got to put no toes and cold boots.
[00:06:06] all of that is icy cool.
[00:06:14] What an adventure.
[00:06:16] This has to be one of the most gorgeous campsites
[00:06:18] I've ever slept at.
[00:06:20] And look, we got the sun coming up.
[00:06:22] Oh, I feel like it's a ball me negative 18.
[00:06:25] It's much fun as this been.
[00:06:27] I gotta get going.
[00:06:28] I got a long way to go.
[00:06:36] I'm going back on the skiergeur.
[00:07:06] It was so good to feel warms.
[00:07:12] All my feet were so numb.
[00:07:14] Just had to get up and keep warm-up as quick as I could.
[00:07:17] Kind of hurts.
[00:07:18] See?
[00:07:19] I can't believe that.
[00:07:21] The other three of these are.
[00:07:23] I thought that was frostbite.
[00:07:25] Turns out it's just lit for my dark blue skull.
[00:07:27] It's coming right off.
[00:07:36] Well, this definitely wasn't interesting camp out. I was expecting the altitude to be a big deal. Turns out it wasn't.
[00:07:45] I was thinking it was going to be negative 5. Turns out it was negative 26.
[00:07:49] But, you know, I kept warm, I managed to have a good time, and hopefully you guys enjoyed watching.

[00:08:12] If you've got bell button, just move it in the description.
[00:08:15] Thanks for watching.
[00:08:18] Who's here with the Outdoor Boys YouTube channel?
[00:08:20] And I'm all by myself camping without a tent in the wilderness of Alaska.
[00:08:25] And this is a great opportunity for me to test a theory of her many times.
[00:08:29] So we're going to find out whether heating up hot rocks can keep you warm in the winter time.
[00:08:59] Oh, say this, if I'm not mistaken, that's a bit of porcupine.
[00:09:19] You can see the little quills right there.
[00:09:21] Porcupines are tasty if you can get past the quills and looks like something did.
[00:09:25] ...
[00:09:55] All right, this seems like a nice pipe again.
[00:10:25] I think it'd better go find myself to wood to build the shelter.
[00:10:32] I need to finally, to eight dead trees about this size, that shouldn't be too hard.
[00:10:53] There's one, I want to use dead trees for my shelter, not just because it's good for
[00:11:02] the environment, but they're lighter to carry and they cut easier and the left over
[00:11:07] piece is a big better firewood.
[00:11:09] Oh, that is a good one right there.
[00:11:13] I like to do the ones.
[00:11:20] Luckily there's lots of standing bedwood here.
[00:11:23] We have a beetle infestation here in Alaska.
[00:11:26] Oh, that's a lot of work, you see a lot further down in the snow and you have a
[00:11:53] The log on your shoulders, I'm hauling all the small log first, I'm trying to beat
[00:12:02] a path so that when I haul the big logs, I don't sink down the snow as much.
[00:12:10] Oh, it wasn't easy, but I did it.
[00:12:16] I'm going to tell you what guys, I'm going to love with these boa bindings on these
[00:12:22] tub stoshoos.
[00:12:24] You can get them on and off so quick, even with your gloves on, even when they're covered
[00:12:29] in ice, make some massive difference.
[00:12:32] I'll next step I need to pick a campsite.
[00:13:02] All right, you make sure it's strong enough, yeah, that's good.
[00:13:17] See all the marks under the bark?
[00:13:31] It's from a Japanese spruce bark beetle.
[00:13:33] That's what killed the tree.
[00:13:35] It's probably killed all of these trees.
[00:14:47] Well, I've got about 90% of my shelter done, but the sun's going to set here in a few
[00:14:58] minutes, so I need to stop what I'm doing and go get some more firewood, so I better
[00:15:03] hurry up and get everything gathered around the camp, but I still have some light to see
[00:15:07] Bye.
[00:15:29] Oh, I gotta get this fire lit and everything is wet.
[00:15:33] I got one of these little zips fire lighters.
[00:15:36] These things are awesome. You can start with a ferrous rod even if they're wet. So hopefully this'll be enough to get this wet wood started
[00:15:59] It's burning slowly, but it's burning
[00:16:06] I'm going to put my bed and shelter right there and the fire there, that way the smoke
[00:16:17] blowing away for me and not blowing into my shelter.
[00:16:22] All right, we gotta get some river rocks now.
[00:16:37] Well, that's a fat one.
[00:16:58] Now, I know a lot of people say that if you put river rocks in a fire that will explode.
[00:17:02] Yeah, sometimes they do, sometimes they do, but we'll see what happens.
[00:18:02] Well, I got my shelter up, including my cot here. It's a bit fidgety, but man, once
[00:18:19] you get it up it is so comfortable. There is very warm in here and I've got a place
[00:18:24] to sit and I'm not getting rained on and the wind's not on me. Pretty nice. But I think
[00:18:30] I'm gonna start making some dinner. I am hungry.
[00:18:33] Nice cup of spiced orange herbal tea with a load of sugar in it.
[00:19:03] the first calories I've had all day, that hits the spot.
[00:19:13] To get out of the big slab of pork jowl bacon,
[00:19:16] the chop this up, we're gonna make a stew out of it tonight.
[00:19:33] I have a big jar of seasonings for the stew here.
[00:19:52] This has got vinegar, salt, pepper, chili powder, mustard, dill, oregano and a whole bunch
[00:19:58] bunch of other things.
[00:20:12] Oh yeah.
[00:20:19] Oh that is a good looking stew right there.
[00:20:22] Yes, I will take some of that.
[00:20:25] Oh that's good.
[00:20:29] All that melted bacon fat mixed in with the vinegar, just sweet and savory and tangy.
[00:20:36] It's good.
[00:20:37] It's getting cold.
[00:20:39] I don't want to let fall a little bit here.
[00:20:42] The morning chronicles, since he's going to step firm, I'm going to let him go.
[00:20:50] Oh, that was good.
[00:20:51] Time to do the dishes.
[00:20:53] I'm going to stack up these rocks, make sure that all the ice is filled with steel.
[00:21:08] Those pile up nicely.
[00:21:10] Well, now that I did it out of the way, we get breakfast started.
[00:21:13] I got some bread flour here, and I'm going to make some bread dough.
[00:21:17] If I get it started now, it'll be nice and ready to cook with tomorrow morning.
[00:21:22] All right, got some yeast and sugar here, paddle of water, all right, I'll just put
[00:21:38] it somewhere where it doesn't freeze, and then the yeast will do its thing, and we'll
[00:21:41] have bread down in the morning.
[00:21:45] If I'm going to get ready for bed and I went to go pull out my sleeping pad, and it's
[00:21:52] not in my bag. I had it clip to the outside, and it's gone. I think it fell off sometime
[00:22:00] when I was in the sled. So we're going to go see if we can go find it before the snow
[00:22:03] berries it too much.
[00:22:15] Oh, I took it out!
[00:22:25] Yay!
[00:22:28] Thank goodness!
[00:22:32] Somebody put it on the truck.
[00:22:34] They must have found it on the trail and realized it belonged to me since I'm the only truck at the trailhead.
[00:22:39] Thank goodness for good honest people.
[00:22:41] people. I'm going to sleeve a lot warmer tonight because of them.
[00:22:57] I made it back but I am pretty wet.
[00:23:00] Fall I was getting pretty worried there. I'm really glad I found that.
[00:23:06] Oh my man is wet. I'm glad to have it.
[00:23:11] When I do this bushcraft con, I often slide my bat in between the two layers there,
[00:23:20] but there's a bit of water underneath this, and I don't want to get my downbag wet.
[00:23:27] So I'm going to go ahead and stick this on top of my con.
[00:23:31] See if that keeps me out of the water a little bit better.
[00:23:34] There you go, got my bed made up in the fort button down as best I can.
[00:23:41] Now I'm going to show you what I'm going to do with my rocks.
[00:23:48] Oh, that's good one.
[00:23:53] Oh, that's a good one.
[00:23:58] Oh, that's a good one.
[00:24:01] There you go.
[00:24:02] The hot rocks are doing their job.
[00:24:04] You can start to see steam coming off the car.
[00:24:07] Awesome.
[00:24:09] I want dry firewood in the morning.
[00:24:19] I'm trying to cover up my cold as best I can.
[00:24:22] So hopefully I'll have some dry warm colds in the morning.
[00:24:33] Got my logs and colds buried in hot rocks.
[00:24:35] So hopefully those will stay dry until the morning.
[00:24:39] It's time for me to get to sleep.
[00:24:53] I'll let you off the camera.
[00:24:55] I'll see you guys in the morning, okay?
[00:25:02] The only thing I can tell me out of this worm's who can bag is a thought of breakfast
[00:25:08] I really want breakfast.
[00:25:11] Now my socks were a little bit wet last night.
[00:25:16] I just took them off and put them in the bottom of my sleeping bag and they're all nice
[00:25:22] and dry and warm.
[00:25:23] It's a nice thing to wake up to.
[00:25:25] We've got a fair amount of snow last night, had about three inches in snow last night
[00:25:32] before I went to bed and it looks like we've picked up another half inch of shell while
[00:25:36] I was asleep.
[00:25:37] Let's see how our rocks didn't protect our fire.
[00:25:41] All right, don't see any embers, it's still feel a little bit of heat down here.
[00:25:50] I think we might be able to get this fire started if we use a lot of tinder, oops, that's all I got, that's that's not gonna cut it all right
[00:26:02] There are little gas leaves and little bull right there when you pour gasoline on our
[00:26:20] fire it kind of spreads out and goes out really quick. You can put in a little jar or something
[00:26:24] you'll keep the flame going for a long time.
[00:26:45] Oh, look at that, the sunrise.
[00:26:47] Yay!
[00:26:48] It's been a twilight for like an hour and a half.
[00:26:50] We get very long sun rises and sun sets up north.
[00:27:07] Well, that bread cooks.
[00:27:08] I've got a little jar of honey and butter.
[00:27:10] I've set by the fire.
[00:27:11] It's getting all nice.
[00:27:12] It's melting.
[00:27:13] Yeah, that's going to be wonderful.
[00:27:20] You got the rest of this pork gel bacon, but if I had to go with my flatbread, oh, yeah.
[00:27:50] They can fat, melted butter, honey, um, carbon sugar, and fat. The three best tasting
[00:27:58] things on a camp out.
[00:28:02] I'm so covered in butter and grease. It's wonderful. Oh, that was delicious breakfast,
[00:28:17] But now that I've got a full belly, I think I need to clean up.
[00:28:24] All right, I know a lot of you guys are wondering about the rocks, how did they do?
[00:28:32] Well, the every one of them is stone cold, no pun intended.
[00:28:38] Those rocks were honestly not very useful.
[00:28:40] They kept the bed warm for about 30, 40 minutes and after that, you just really couldn't
[00:28:44] even there. Likewise, the stones I piled up on the fire were cold within a few hours
[00:28:49] of the fire going out. Without insulation a hot rock won't stay warm very long, even in
[00:28:55] mild winter conditions like this.
[00:29:08] Ah, what a beautiful campsite. But it's time to go home.
[00:29:14] I'm starting rough. I'm no expert, but that looks like my choke is messed up.
[00:29:36] Yeah that's that's not good alright I don't know what I did but I did it that's
[00:29:46] why you always freak snow shoes that thing don't start in the morning you're walking
[00:29:50] at home.
[00:29:51] I'm going back to the truck, but I can't get him inside.
[00:30:07] The locks are frozen.
[00:30:09] All right, now go home, let's go.
[00:30:13] There we go!
[00:30:20] Aha!
[00:30:23] That's one of the calming hotlips, nobody calls me that.
[00:30:43] I hope you guys enjoyed watching this video if you want to see more camping videos from

[00:31:16] We'll get more notifications. Thanks for watching.
[00:31:20] Look here at the Octopus YouTube channel,
[00:31:22] and I'm in the deserts of southern Utah,
[00:31:24] and I'm camping in a snowstorm
[00:31:26] and searching for ancient native American cities.
[00:31:30] I have a great time.
[00:31:31] Come along for the ride.
[00:31:33] It's gonna be awesome.
[00:31:43] Let's see if I can get it.
[00:31:47] Let's see if we can get it.
[00:31:48] I love you guys.
[00:31:49] Will you be good for mama?
[00:31:50] Yes.
[00:31:51] Good night.
[00:31:53] Oh.
[00:31:54] I'm going to be doing an 11.5 mile hike through a series of canyons.
[00:32:01] And rumor has it that there's dozens of untouched ancient Native American archaeological sites
[00:32:07] in this canyon, which we can explore.
[00:32:09] I heard one person call this hike and open their museum.
[00:32:12] I got a bit, I'm excited to check this out. This is going to be cool.
[00:32:19] There's kind of a surreal experience. I'm sitting here hiking in the bitter cold with snow around,
[00:32:25] and I'm in the middle of the desert. It's so weird seeing practices and snow at the same time.
[00:32:42] Oh, check it out, there's some ruins right there.
[00:32:50] So this is the dwelling homes of the Anasazi Indians, the Anasazi's would find these
[00:32:56] outcroppings under these cliffs, and they would build their homes here.
[00:32:59] They'd take this flat stone that's everywhere and stack it up and put mud in between it
[00:33:04] and build homes out of it.
[00:33:05] They'd take these seater beams and sticks, lay them in a crisscross pattern with mud over
[00:33:10] the top.
[00:33:11] There you go. You've got a cozy little home build a fire in here and that would reflect brilliantly.
[00:33:17] Florida these structures like this one were greeneries. They would have very seasonal foods and they would take the surplus food and preserve it and put it in here
[00:33:26] and then they would wall it all up and they'd just fill this up with rocks and then the animals couldn't get to it.
[00:33:31] See they've got a granary back there, one right there, one right here. Can you see this granary is open?
[00:33:39] but there's this one and this one over there and there's no enterance so it's still
[00:33:45] sealed up. Now who knows what's inside those things? Look at this. There's a little
[00:33:51] piece of pottery right here. That is so cool. This could be a thousand years old.
[00:33:57] I'm just gonna go ahead and put that right back. Now this looks more like a building
[00:34:02] because there's like a window and a door.
[00:34:05] Whoa, that's cool.
[00:34:11] Just barely enough room that you could lay down
[00:34:13] and build a fire in here.
[00:34:14] She's really all you'd want to do in the wintertime.
[00:34:17] That in the heat of the summer, this place feels amazing.
[00:34:23] Wow, that looks like a little shard of pottery right there.
[00:34:26] That's so cool.
[00:34:27] It's a little bit of the mortar that's falling out.
[00:34:32] There's a log, how old it is.
[00:34:35] You know, these pieces of wood have been here for hundreds of years and they haven't
[00:34:39] rotten away.
[00:34:43] This is just amazing.
[00:34:49] This has been here for hundreds of years and nobody has managed to destroy it or fence it off.
[00:34:53] That's pretty cool.
[00:34:55] Okay
[00:35:00] This is cool. You look at this look what I found
[00:35:04] This is the center of the Indian corn cob look at that
[00:35:08] There's leave that right there
[00:35:11] Pieces of charcoal leftover from the campfires here. Oh
[00:35:15] It's cool
[00:35:19] Keep finding these pieces of turt or flint. I think this is what they used to make arrowheads and spearheads and stuff
[00:35:24] Now it just makes so much sense to build your house here.
[00:35:28] If you build your house down the bottom,
[00:35:30] it's gonna flood every time there's a rainstorm.
[00:35:32] You build your house at the top.
[00:35:34] You've got the full sun on you in the summertime,
[00:35:36] and all the cold wind in the winter.
[00:35:38] Well, that was way cool,
[00:35:39] but we've got a lot of ground to cover,
[00:35:41] and a lot more cool stuff to explore.
[00:35:49] So this right here is a wash or a dried up river.
[00:35:52] Here in the desert,
[00:35:53] These are usually just bone dry like you see them now,
[00:35:56] but if it rains even far away,
[00:35:59] these can turn into raging rapids,
[00:36:01] and then you do not wanna be in here.
[00:36:03] If you're in a really narrow canyon
[00:36:05] where you're only choices to walk in the wash,
[00:36:08] this can be really dangerous
[00:36:09] and you gotta watch the weather closely,
[00:36:11] so that you don't get caught in a flash flood.
[00:36:14] But luckily this canyon's pretty broad
[00:36:16] and the sides aren't that steep,
[00:36:18] so I can get out if I need to.
[00:36:19] Look at these. Oh, we got a little road at the front here. We got some sort of small
[00:36:25] cap. Not seeing any claws in the print. Oh, there's another one of those granaries.
[00:36:40] You can see a pack rat is made of its home. You see all the little pack rat poops? So
[00:36:44] you know, you can see more pack rat nests. They just gather up everything they can and
[00:36:48] shove it up into these cracks. Alright we're gonna keep moving I got a lot more
[00:36:52] to see. A lot of ground to cover. Between this lake rock and the snow finding a trail
[00:37:02] here is a little bit challenging. Luckily I know I'm supposed to head downhill in
[00:37:07] the bottom of this canyon so I can't get too lost. I was worried I wouldn't see
[00:37:14] the water on the trail. So far there's been plenty. In the summertime finding water in these
[00:37:19] canyons is really hit and mess.
[00:37:31] Oh, look at that view. That's pretty.
[00:37:37] Oh, senior doing my snag break, and I think I see another set of ruins up there.
[00:37:44] Let's see if I can get better look.
[00:37:54] A little bit of something was built here, this is some of that dried mud here, this is a
[00:37:58] little bit of dried mud right there.
[00:38:00] Looks like there's some structures up there, maybe, but I don't want to break my neck
[00:38:05] get out there plus I got a lot of miles to cover yet. If you spend enough time in this
[00:38:09] canyon you're gonna just find stuff that nobody else has found.
[00:38:23] Let's take out the canyon goes over that direction but we got a little peekaboo window into the next canyon over.
[00:38:28] If you look way over there at that clamp, just right on this little ledge, you can see
[00:38:36] more ruins right up there.
[00:38:38] How on earth do they get up there?
[00:38:40] It must have had some crazy ladders to get all right up there in the rocks.
[00:38:46] They can see another structure.
[00:38:58] We put this rock here and packed all this mud around it and smeared the mud with
[00:39:02] their fingertips a thousand years ago.
[00:39:04] Oh yeah, that is so cool.
[00:39:06] Here's another chunk of mud, the rocks sticking out of it.
[00:39:09] We had somebody had to haul all that mud in the food up here to make this granary.
[00:39:14] This is insane.
[00:39:15] I'm gonna leave this.
[00:39:18] How do you grind me right there?
[00:39:25] Who's idea was it to build up here?
[00:39:27] Nobody's gonna casually walk off in your food though.
[00:39:30] You gotta get down without killing myself.
[00:39:35] Now I keep stopping and exploring every few minutes.
[00:39:38] It's making things go a little bit slow.
[00:39:40] I need to pick up the pace.
[00:39:42] Cool, that's deep.
[00:39:45] How do you all this gear on my back doesn't make this easier on my quad?
[00:39:52] Oh check it out we got a cottonwood tree these things always grow near water
[00:39:57] And look at this right down there's a spring you want to find water in North America learn how to identify cottonwood trees from far away
[00:40:05] Oh that's kind of some nasty water though
[00:40:09] Oh
[00:40:11] Yeah, nice little cactus throwing right in the top of my foot
[00:40:14] Yeah, you definitely want to wear boots and long pants around here.
[00:40:18] I've already pulled a few thorns out of my legs.
[00:40:23] Oh, that doesn't feel good.
[00:40:25] Oh, no, hold it, does it's not friendly.
[00:40:33] Ah, so cool.
[00:40:35] Totally, this place is deserted. I haven't seen a single person all day.
[00:40:39] to get out there's some more ruins up there. I don't want Earth to
[00:40:45] dig it up there though. I'm taking it back back off of this one. I think
[00:40:56] there used to be a pretty good sight that ruins here and these rocks broke off
[00:41:00] The cliff face and smashed it.
[00:41:07] Look at this.
[00:41:14] Oh, look at this, a whole bunch more right down there.
[00:41:22] There's a room down here, so...
[00:41:30] Wow!
[00:41:31] Look at how the Indian's through this.
[00:41:33] Look at all these drawings.
[00:41:35] These might be as much as 2000 years old.
[00:41:39] That's so cool.
[00:41:41] Pretty little hand prints they do.
[00:41:43] Look at that.
[00:41:44] Wonder what the rhyme and reason to this artwork is?
[00:41:47] I mean, these figures don't have head.
[00:41:50] But this one's got nipples.
[00:41:52] Look at it.
[00:41:53] And you can see all of these hand prints.
[00:41:56] Look at them, they're just tons of them.
[00:41:59] Take out these corn cobs.
[00:42:02] The Anasasi is a grow corn and stored here.
[00:42:05] Look at that.
[00:42:06] That's hundreds of years old.
[00:42:09] See, this used to be someone's house right there.
[00:42:12] You can see the mud walls right down there.
[00:42:16] It's just been like a little granary or something.
[00:42:19] There's really no one's mud up here.
[00:42:20] There's a big pile of corn cobs.
[00:42:22] I was reading up a little bit on a history of this place before coming here.
[00:42:25] here. And apparently while the last note occupants of this place, around 1280, there's been
[00:42:31] people who have been here for thousands of years prior to that. You can see all these big rocks
[00:42:36] that have fallen down. I bet there was a huge ledge that was all along here because look,
[00:42:41] there's paintings all the way up there. I can see lots of drawing of cornstarchs and different
[00:42:47] people and prints. That's like a turkey or something right there. I have got to get going. I am not
[00:42:54] making very good time, because I keep stopping and exploring all the time.
[00:43:02] Look at that, you can barely tell that's up there. If I hadn't spotted the
[00:43:05] pector glyphs in a bit of that wall, I would have never known.
[00:43:08] Hunter, how many of these things have walked right past.
[00:43:11] Look at all of these canyon walls up here.
[00:43:14] There'd be a whole city's hiding up there that I just missed.
[00:43:24] That was a great spot.
[00:43:34] Oh, I think I can see more ruins up there in the cliffs.
[00:43:44] How on earth you get up there though?
[00:43:46] I can see it peaking out of that cave, but how do you get up there?
[00:43:53] I think I need to drop my pack here.
[00:44:14] It's more of a bit to corner.
[00:44:17] Yeah, that is a very old piece of bone. Another piece of bone.
[00:44:24] We're corn. She got similar to lion with the vertical lions coming down for her.
[00:44:31] I saw that at the other place. See you next Lloyd.
[00:44:35] Yeah, on an ocean start.
[00:44:47] It was a time no, kiddo's calling me.
[00:45:00] This seems starting.
[00:45:04] Oh, in puzzle.
[00:45:09] 1891.
[00:45:11] I got some point graffiti becomes a store.
[00:45:14] I think that qualifies you see right there. That's a bit of a wall and a little bit of a scare cave
[00:45:24] Something piece of corn right there
[00:45:27] Look at the auto restart it. Yeah
[00:45:30] Oh, damn boo
[00:45:32] Where did they get bamboo from?
[00:45:35] See some walls right here
[00:45:37] You can see all the black charring on the inside of this wall, probably from all the fires
[00:45:49] they have in here to keep them warm in the winter.
[00:45:52] We call it a black kind of ceiling.
[00:45:55] There must have been another enclosure here, but it's all gone.
[00:45:59] More corn husks.
[00:46:01] A little flip flake for making everything.
[00:46:04] And then we'll get the Genki Day chat.
[00:46:06] Yeah, so we'll cover the spiral in the wall.
[00:46:09] Sit in there for hundreds of years.
[00:46:12] It's great.
[00:46:13] See where snakes littered in here, slithered out.
[00:46:16] I don't see any footprints.
[00:46:17] I don't know where the last time a human being was in here.
[00:46:20] This is quite a view to having your living room.
[00:46:22] Look at that.
[00:46:23] So another little cash right in here.
[00:46:29] Oh, hey, check this out.
[00:46:31] See this depression right here?
[00:46:33] thousand years ago, this is how people made flour. Just put the cornmeal right in here and just grind it all up until it's fine powder
[00:46:44] Oh, it's taken out there's more over here
[00:46:48] Biggie, that's a nice. It's just buried a good chunk of this
[00:46:50] Oh, he got to pack rat skull right there.
[00:47:01] All right, now for the tricky part, I need to get down.
[00:47:06] Oh, oh.
[00:47:09] I'm going to leave you steep yesterday.
[00:47:13] Oh, I'm so tired.
[00:47:15] All right, I consulted my map and I'm in a little bit of a pickle. Sun sets in two and a half hours, and I'm about a quarter of a way to the height.
[00:47:28] I have a substance smell of the rose.
[00:47:30] Yeah.
[00:47:31] A bit too.
[00:47:32] Really, you fucked me today.
[00:47:34] My.
[00:47:38] Let's put that window fully open.
[00:47:40] I woke up at 6.30.
[00:47:42] I'm up. I've got three.
[00:47:43] 3.
[00:47:45] I thought I got sick, that's why we were so hot right now, I couldn't do it in no place here
[00:47:53] on that.
[00:47:55] Yeah.
[00:47:57] And I could have come back to see, that's why it's for my more clothes.
[00:48:01] Oh, my God.
[00:48:03] Right up there in the cliff, I could see something.
[00:48:05] I should figure out how to do that.
[00:48:07] I should figure out how to do that.
[00:48:09] So cool.
[00:48:10] There's so many side canyons and I'm just looking at it actually.
[00:48:13] I can spend the week exploring all these ruins.
[00:48:16] Hmm.
[00:48:17] Hey look, a tumbleweed.
[00:48:20] Let me use that so like nine hours.
[00:48:23] So dead.
[00:48:25] See some more ruins and they cave up there.
[00:48:28] Oh, plenty of springs.
[00:48:30] I gotta come back here with the boys and do this hike.
[00:48:36] Wow.
[00:48:37] I'm kind of a girthy tree. It's what the kids call thick.
[00:48:41] That'd be a fun little campsite right there.
[00:48:48] Oh, there's so much stuff up there.
[00:48:49] I'm a minute, if I'm a minute.
[00:48:50] I'm getting good time, but that's what caused it.
[00:48:52] I didn't really have to get it.
[00:48:54] I need a group so bad.
[00:48:55] My stomach is hurting so much.
[00:48:57] Yeah, I need to.
[00:48:58] I'm making good progress right now.
[00:49:01] But I've got to keep out it for two good reasons.
[00:49:04] One is the one of the coolest archaeological sites on this whole hike, it's just up ahead
[00:49:10] and I want to see it before the sun goes down and about an hour and a half into it's
[00:49:16] supposed to start raining after dark tomorrow.
[00:49:18] So I've got to get out of these washes before they flush out and we're going to go do a
[00:49:22] diggy.
[00:49:23] Can see some small ruins right over there, I'm going to throw it in for a little bit.
[00:49:29] There.
[00:49:30] Yeah, I don't know if I found it.
[00:49:32] Let's take care of some ruins up there, too.
[00:49:34] For good stead gaze searching this canyon.
[00:49:39] There's some really good ruins over here.
[00:49:41] I've got to check it out, just briefly.
[00:49:45] Look at this.
[00:49:46] That is really in good shape.
[00:49:48] Look at the side of that.
[00:49:50] Kind of so cold, but I've got to get going.
[00:49:55] I know there's a storm coming tonight,
[00:49:58] and I can feel it in the wind now.
[00:50:00] The wind's change feels up to the top.
[00:50:05] Damn, shat, my chai, do we skip the gym or no?
[00:50:09] I'm exhausted right now, I'm not gonna let a soul pull, bro.
[00:50:14] I hate like wicking up in the morning.
[00:50:16] Yeah, I see some ruins in petroglyphs up there.
[00:50:18] Okay, you go check it out.
[00:50:20] That's up for four hours in the night.
[00:50:22] We're gonna drop.
[00:50:22] Back back here.
[00:50:23] Wow, I woke up at 80 and I posted a motivational story on my Instagram too.
[00:50:33] How can I skip the gym after that? That's fucked.
[00:50:37] I feel like I shouldn't skip the gym so tired.
[00:50:41] I can someone come and massage my legs for me.
[00:50:45] It's cool.
[00:50:47] Oh my god wait I'm not just fucking loser. I posted that motivation shit and I went right back to sleep.
[00:51:01] Be fair though, I only have five hours and I was so cold.
[00:51:08] I've got to keep going.
[00:51:10] That's the put the window open, it's so cold.
[00:51:15] Damn shot.
[00:51:16] Well, nice.
[00:51:17] Thank you for the prime dear me.
[00:51:18] I love you.
[00:51:24] And you and I'll see you in the water off chat today.
[00:51:27] It's variety.
[00:51:28] Look at that, even got it.
[00:51:29] What do you guys want to play first today, shot?
[00:51:31] I would even have to set up my tent.
[00:51:32] I could just throw down my bed.
[00:51:34] We've ready all day.
[00:51:35] can't fire and this would be really nice.
[00:51:38] I got a long way to go to make my rendezvous with Beck in the morning.
[00:51:41] If we go to the gym, that's going to be another L-Street, I'm not going to lie because
[00:51:45] we need to be back at three hours, I think.
[00:51:47] I'm not going to make it in the morning.
[00:51:49] If we have to skip the gym guys.
[00:51:51] We need to make some tracks before sunset.
[00:51:55] I don't want to have another L-Street, yesterday we shoot like 12 hours, like I don't want
[00:52:00] more.
[00:52:01] up here. This one's really special. I think we are also
[00:52:11] I'm going to go to Barburship.
[00:52:13] That is so cool.
[00:52:15] That would play high-tail.
[00:52:17] It would play out loud.
[00:52:19] Nice, oh, place to sleep.
[00:52:21] Oh, there's a brilliant other game we can play.
[00:52:25] A-packs, we need a third.
[00:52:27] Look at this.
[00:52:29] You get a much better feel for what these houses looked like when they were intact.
[00:52:35] Got the headlight out.
[00:52:37] I got five gifted, actually.
[00:52:39] Oh my god, I love you who gets to find you.
[00:52:45] I can see what somebody would want this in the desert.
[00:52:50] That should be cool in the summer and warm in the winter.
[00:52:54] Oh, I got nothing here.
[00:52:56] I think we gotta go down here.
[00:52:58] You know.
[00:53:00] All right.
[00:53:03] Oh
[00:53:07] Oh
[00:53:09] I think that's a lot of accurate urine and poo
[00:53:14] You got these logs supporting the roof
[00:53:17] Oh, there's a grass and stuff in between
[00:53:20] Take out they've got a little hole to let air in you stay in my name change. Oh, it's so dark
[00:53:28] Go chat
[00:53:30] Oh my god, Sam, they just felt so cold.
[00:53:34] They probably shouldn't have wondered if something so good.
[00:53:37] I'm back as hurting from that bad.
[00:53:40] Good shot.
[00:53:45] I hope we let Sam take over to this room.
[00:53:50] I would take it off day.
[00:53:52] On the 21st, I have so many games to watch.
[00:53:59] So you go off day.
[00:54:00] And this wash might fill up water.
[00:54:03] So one of the reasons I'm pushing it, even though it's not.
[00:54:04] I'm going to go party.
[00:54:05] Cause I know that every mile I can do now.
[00:54:07] Yeah, I want to go party.
[00:54:09] If you're doing the water in the rain.
[00:54:11] Let's go party.
[00:54:12] No, party, bro.
[00:54:15] Oh, I didn't even realize we slept so long.
[00:54:18] Well, same bed.
[00:54:19] I didn't get that much sleep.
[00:54:22] They have so long that our stream reads that again.
[00:54:25] All right, look who we got to climb up the road.
[00:54:27] Hey, what is up YouTube, welcome back to Dave 5 of the Shanks in some sleepathon.
[00:54:35] Oh, you guys enjoyed the first four days.
[00:54:38] Dave 4 is pretty awesome.
[00:54:40] I'm not gonna lie.
[00:54:41] Dave 1 will send him my date.
[00:54:42] He'll send him my date.
[00:54:43] They're just pretty fun as well.
[00:54:44] Now we're on Dave 5.
[00:54:46] Bang.
[00:54:47] They said when we're going to end the sleepathon, I think we're going to end it on February
[00:54:54] four-chain one Valentine's Day. Because that's when I will be flying to LA, if anyone
[00:55:03] doesn't LA in the single and off the whole note with me, I'd be down nice.
[00:55:09] So let me shower when we wake up. Yeah, I'm pretty warm. I'm getting a shower. I'm not going to lie.
[00:55:16] you get really cold, but you shower and you get food.
[00:55:20] Get it hot.
[00:55:29] What do you guys got panes for Valentine's Day?
[00:55:34] It will be honest.
[00:55:40] I don't know.
[00:55:42] That's it.
[00:55:43] I could be gonna have to do like an hour and contact them on Valentine's Day.
[00:55:48] Pretty, let us.
[00:55:50] Hot and toast each chunk of blue to the table.
[00:55:52] You guys have to do this?
[00:55:53] It's hard to beat.
[00:55:55] Oh, good.
[00:55:58] It is getting cold.
[00:56:01] Oh, I've been looking forward to a hot meal all day.
[00:56:06] G2 contract of doom.
[00:56:09] Now, they asked me if I had planned on Valentine's Day, and I told them I'm a single fat woman,
[00:56:14] Chad, and then they asked me if I can come out to that letter.
[00:56:16] I'll read the app probably.
[00:56:18] There, and we had so many chances to fill up on water.
[00:56:21] I just didn't think I needed to.
[00:56:23] That was it, a hurry.
[00:56:24] Yeah.
[00:56:25] Now this is my last Gulf of Water.
[00:56:27] They probably think I'm a loser.
[00:56:29] We're going to go film the countdown.
[00:56:32] I'm going to the time thing.
[00:56:33] We chopped.
[00:56:34] My water pot.
[00:56:35] Oh, a chop.
[00:56:36] I'm going to show you guys a single W in the chat if you're single, I'll in the chat if you're taking
[00:56:47] white notes, but yeah, I'd be first in the world if you're taking.
[00:56:53] But man, I want to go to sleep and I'm going to show you my whole chat if you're in W right now.
[00:57:00] the
[00:57:04] light so child we are single all of us are single
[00:57:07] the last night turned into snow at some point because I could hear the snow sliding off the roof of the tent
[00:57:13] the little curious to see what it looks like
[00:57:16] yes we
[00:57:18] It's a little bit of snow and rain in my pot, so I got some water for breakfast.
[00:57:27] Are you gonna single buy choice or...
[00:57:30] That...
[00:57:31] Choice...
[00:57:32] or Chot.
[00:57:33] Getting a cup of moderately warm into oatmeal, and I would've come about.
[00:57:43] We're actually all single time.
[00:57:50] Oh my god.
[00:57:52] So ugly.
[00:57:54] So ugly.
[00:57:55] We're gonna make it in the future.
[00:58:05] You are too low to be in a relationship.
[00:58:08] That been like I'm from Samshat.
[00:58:11] Matter of fact, I don't know for my chads, too.
[00:58:15] What? You guys don't think I have good e-lover right now?
[00:58:17] Like I work all day, work all day, like I've been like, y'know?
[00:58:23] I'm not gonna shit.
[00:58:25] Ugh.
[00:58:32] I got camp broke down, now we need to go find the path.
[00:58:35] It's somewhere over here, but you can see with the snow, makes things tricky.
[00:58:42] Well, I pushed hard last night and I did about four and a half miles in the dark, but I'm really glad I did that.
[00:58:50] I'm really easy striking to do.
[00:58:53] And what?
[00:58:54] And then while I was your tinnitus.
[00:58:56] And I am really glad to not be hiking on that slick rock in this world.
[00:59:00] Have you ever paid for a woman?
[00:59:02] I don't even think I've ever done this.
[00:59:04] I've never done this.
[00:59:05] It's the worst.
[00:59:06] It is the absolute worst.
[00:59:07] I'll take naked before me.
[00:59:08] You're over freezing rain.
[00:59:09] That's him.
[00:59:10] To get fresh deer tracks.
[00:59:12] Those must have been this morning.
[00:59:14] There's only a little bit of snow in them.
[00:59:18] I made it.
[00:59:20] And most importantly, I didn't keep my life waiting.
[00:59:23] Who?
[00:59:24] I hope you can.
[00:59:25] If you went on a date, you technically paid for a woman.
[00:59:28] Check out our playlist.
[00:59:30] We have an entire camping adventure playlists. You got me
[00:59:35] Wow, wow, I mean, yeah, I guess
[00:59:40] Oh, you know, you're pretty bad. I mean like yes
[00:59:43] Because we put out videos every Saturday morning. All right, I'll see you next Saturday. Take care.
[00:59:55] Brian he is very funny. You should watch his videos. He was actually one of the very first like
[01:00:01] Honestly, if you're an Asian growing up around my age, Ryan he feels like you're good like he was your god
[01:00:08] The thing is like, bro, I remember in like 2021 when I served things out, I was like making these for myself like
[01:00:16] He was in my child, I painted them, he made me before like, but I was actually staying brain so hard like
[01:00:22] He's actually to go
[01:00:24] No cut
[01:00:25] Mara, I see how driving the gym, can you knock it in a life?
[01:00:39] We have a very good gym day yesterday, so I'll maybe not find this stuff so good, but
[01:00:44] we look up to late.
[01:00:46] We have a rest day tomorrow, this is our late day today, but is it bad if we skip the gym
[01:00:54] today and do like tomorrow and then not have a rest day and then you chat the other day
[01:01:00] because I don't want to do like another shit-shave machine all the time I have everything today
[01:01:06] fucking do everything
[01:01:09] just stop to look back at me see if I'm chasing him
[01:01:12] he ever scare up a rabbit just be cool and they'll usually stop right before they get us out of the town
[01:01:17] no it's fine, have you can you go home or you guys
[01:01:19] them, and we're skipping legs today.
[01:01:25] All right, we got plenty of time.
[01:01:27] You won't come, I'm gonna order on my phone, I'm so hungry right now, I'm gonna order
[01:01:31] at 9 a.m.
[01:01:32] We need to skip the gym today, your body's clearly telling you that you need to have
[01:01:37] a degree.
[01:01:38] Oh, that's why I was left so much.
[01:01:44] I think Sam did such a good workout yesterday too, that's why he slept so much.
[01:01:48] your shoulders so hurting me to go.
[01:01:52] I'm gonna say hi to my mom.
[01:01:55] I'm gonna go say hi to my mom.
[01:01:57] I'm gonna say hi to my mom.
[01:01:59] I go.
[01:02:08] I'm on a low key like,
[01:02:10] I'll have to say mom's like 10 to 15 minutes
[01:02:12] but she's like low key to my mom.
[01:02:14] She's my own trip so we low key have a lot to talk about.
[01:02:17] So I'm going to go podcast with Sam's mom a little bit chat and yeah, we're going to
[01:02:24] get a W mom's mom a chat that you care a say bro, Sam's mom loves me, and it's
[01:02:32] one of the four people who are like right, make yourself a home pretend to have your
[01:02:36] mind, you want to be very close on the floor to do it, you want the laundry of the floor
[01:02:39] I like powder game, I think you're gonna be on the bush.
[01:02:44] Josh, it might be like a bomb, I swear to God.
[01:02:46] There's a good chance you're gonna get this.
[01:02:48] Have you free loader?
[01:02:50] That's a smoke wild caught suck I salmon go with.
[01:02:53] Now, like I think the trip, I'm probably gonna die, like her like, like a hundred
[01:02:58] range, just like the sea with a bar, bouquets, and then I'm probably gonna buy a
[01:03:01] same bot, see him down, like a couple like alcohol bottles or something.
[01:03:05] I need to give him something, right?
[01:03:06] for everything else I could give them the thing them and they failed not let me pay for rent or anything
[01:03:11] so I think I want to buy them like a person.
[01:03:18] Lember, Eony, a new watch, okay, uh, yeah, I think I'm just going to give them a hug instead and say goodbye.
[01:03:27] You said a go on.
[01:03:30] Ah, you said the guy in heaven.
[01:03:36] There they go.
[01:03:41] Any good thing, man?
[01:03:43] Yeah.
[01:03:44] Meek?
[01:03:45] Are they watching an energy academy today?
[01:03:48] Um...
[01:03:49] I rather run a marathon outside.
[01:03:52] They'll probably not.
[01:03:54] Of course, they'll watch an energy academy.
[01:03:57] Then you want that.
[01:04:06] They even play games, yes, today we're going to be playing, towards the Valorant,
[01:04:15] High Tail, Outlast Trials, and if there's any other game we guys want to see, then you
[01:04:22] let me know. But actually I need to go see how to stay in the warm chat so
[01:04:25] Good bye.
[01:05:25] That seems nice.
[01:05:51] So this is my sleeping platform and I've got to be really thorough and go through and take
[01:05:55] out every little knot and stick because I don't want anything putting a hole in my sleeping
[01:06:00] bag and I don't want to have anything stabbing me in the back while I'm sleeping.
[01:06:04] So this is one of those jobs that you really want to take your time and do it right.
[01:06:08] You also want to get the edges of the front and back log as well because if your
[01:06:13] tarp goes up the back or you're dangling your legs off the side, you don't want rippin
[01:06:17] any material.
[01:06:34] I've only been here for three hours and the sun's already setting.
[01:06:37] Oh, I can start so quick up here.
[01:06:41] Hi guys, here's my bag of lamps.
[01:06:43] out five pounds of just lights with 18 hours of darkness here, so you've got to
[01:06:48] bring a lot of lights and a lot of batteries. And this right here is my box of
[01:06:53] batteries. So I've got 16 GoPro batteries and a back of battery for my cell phone
[01:06:58] and for my GPS. That weighs another five pounds. So between camera batteries and
[01:07:03] camera lights I've got about 10 pounds of gear I bring with me at a minimum on
[01:07:07] on every one of these trips.
[01:07:37] All right.
[01:07:46] I'm sure I'll find those in this thing.
[01:07:57] Well, I think is much done to this helping, but the sun has set, I'm running on Twilight.
[01:08:07] So I need to hurry up and get some firewood and gather up everything around the camp
[01:08:11] because it's going to get really dark real quick.
[01:08:15] I brought along a couple of caribou hides and lay him down on the wood to help protect
[01:08:28] my sleeping bag and to give me some insulation.
[01:08:30] This caribou hide is a really good insulator.
[01:08:36] the hairs of the caribou are hollow, so they make really good insulators.
[01:08:41] Despite the shedding these caribou hides hold up pretty well, I've been camping on these for three years.
[01:08:46] They're still doing great.
[01:09:06] I'm getting hungry and he cooks some dinner.
[01:09:22] Oh, I tried dead pine goes up like gasoline.
[01:09:25] Oh, the temperature's dropped, and I'll bundle myself up a little bit.
[01:09:40] We're gonna have some hot tea.
[01:10:10] You don't cold tank is okay, but when you heat it up, it's like wassel or spiced oranges.
[01:10:21] It's actually really good.
[01:10:23] Alright guys, it's time for dinner now, and we're going to make something special.
[01:10:30] I'm roasted lamb shake, I love lamb.
[01:10:34] All right, got that bowl and exposed, got a touch of olive oil here, just want it oily
[01:10:43] so that all the herbs will stick to it.
[01:10:45] All right, we got some coarse salt, some black pepper.
[01:10:50] We're going to sit it over this fire and just sear the outside.
[01:10:58] Oh, yeah, nice see you all that.
[01:11:15] Now we're going to roast it slow and low.
[01:11:20] Just going to go ahead and add some rosemary, thyme and parsley to the roast.
[01:11:28] Oh my goodness this smells amazing and it sounds amazing.
[01:11:46] I don't know what it is about shelling peanuts but they taste so much better when you
[01:11:49] shell of yourself. I think it's a better for life. You just enjoy things a lot more when
[01:11:54] you have to work for. All right, I got a little idiot butter curry. It's been
[01:12:02] stiff rice to go with my lamb here. I'm going to start boiling that up.
[01:12:13] All right, I'm going to pull this lamb shake out. Just let it rest here by the fire for a little
[01:12:17] Let's take a peek.
[01:12:29] Oh my goodness. That is so beautiful.
[01:12:39] I was abroad a long couple pieces of knot too, because you know why not?
[01:12:47] There we go guys roasted lamb shank butter curry and non that is smells amazing
[01:12:58] Alright we're going to try this lamb shank so good I don't need lamb enough
[01:13:06] I'm just salt and pepper, so good.
[01:13:11] Oh, curry's good, too.
[01:13:16] Whoa, I am stuffed.
[01:13:22] All right, how I need to do some dishes.
[01:13:36] Come on, get started to get ready for bed.
[01:13:46] I was getting into bed and I knocked my pillow into the fire and I jumped down and grabbed it,
[01:13:50] but the damage was done.
[01:13:53] Now it's got a little hole in it.
[01:13:55] I have got a little stuff stack.
[01:13:56] My turt came in.
[01:13:58] I don't know, put my down jacket inside.
[01:14:02] We're gonna do a little DIY hello.
[01:14:06] So, there we go.
[01:14:07] Not too bad of a solution.
[01:14:09] I'd be careful when I make sure I don't drop anything else
[01:14:11] in the fire, including myself.
[01:14:13] Luckily, I don't roll around much,
[01:14:15] I think I should be okay.
[01:14:16] I'm gonna put up this camera.
[01:14:17] I'm gonna see you guys in the morning.
[01:14:20] Good morning.
[01:14:27] Oh, man, I slept really well last night.
[01:14:30] I'm so warm in this bed.
[01:14:33] When the fire was still going, it was heating the platform for underneath.
[01:14:37] It would just be this nice gentle warmly feeling coming up through the bat.
[01:14:42] But even with the fire out, I'm still a lot warmer than sleeping on the ground.
[01:14:46] ground just sucks the heat out of you. Big off the ground makes a big difference.
[01:14:52] But I think it's time for me to get up and build a fire and make some breakfast.
[01:15:03] Boots are nice and frozen.
[01:15:09] Oh, I feel like ski boots.
[01:15:16] Well, this shelter worked pretty well, but there's actually a feature that's really
[01:15:34] cool about it.
[01:15:35] I didn't get to use the last night.
[01:15:36] You know, that's not a bad shelter, that heat of the fire goes up and out.
[01:15:52] So when you elevate the bed, you capture more of the heat from the fire, as opposed to sitting
[01:15:57] on the ground next to the fire.
[01:15:59] Plus, here in the wintertime, you never quite know what the ground situation is.
[01:16:02] Having an elevated bed just avoid all that problem.
[01:16:06] I actually had a lot of other plants through this shelter. I was going to put a wall up there and there,
[01:16:10] but I ran out of time, but I'm thinking I might come back here and keep working on this project
[01:16:15] and turning it into a proper, long-term survival shelter. But I'm hungry. I'm going to make some food now.
[01:16:36] All right, I got a pancake with first blueberries that are not too shabby.
[01:17:06] Blueberry pancake can sit in the maple syrup all right fried spam and pancakes good combination
[01:17:19] It is hard to beat blueberry pancakes with maple syrup all right time for seconds here
[01:17:26] Oh my god.
[01:17:28] Wooo.
[01:17:30] Yeah.
[01:17:32] Oh.
[01:17:34] Now as a kid, me and my family would go camping here at Alaska.
[01:17:37] And we would go berry picking and pick wild blueberries.
[01:17:40] And mom would make blueberry pancakes every morning.
[01:17:42] Spring back a lot of fun memories.
[01:17:45] All right.
[01:17:46] I think it's time to start cleaning this party up.
[01:17:49] Well I'm definitely going to come back here. I'm going to put walls on that thing.
[01:18:18] Maybe a room from a seal it up all really nice to get it super toasty, but that's gonna be another video
[01:18:23] If you guys want to see that video make sure to click subscribe to the outer boys YouTube channel
[01:18:27] We put out new videos every Saturday morning. All right guys. I'll see you next Saturday
[01:18:48] Looking Jake here at the Octopus YouTube channel and we are here to Alaska.
[01:18:54] We're chopping a lot of wood, making shelters, and eating great food.
[01:18:59] Have a good time bud?
[01:19:01] Yeah.
[01:19:18] Are they taking you doing good?
[01:19:20] Yeah, I'm just resting.
[01:19:26] Oh.
[01:19:32] You're good?
[01:19:38] Did you give me a high five?
[01:19:40] I'm impressed. Do you sell shoes along the way, bud?
[01:19:42] I did.
[01:19:43] No, no, no.
[01:19:44] Yeah, you didn't rest that much.
[01:19:46] much can we start getting camp set up?
[01:19:48] Yes.
[01:19:56] Here.
[01:19:57] Well, like that.
[01:19:59] This one's heavy butch.
[01:20:03] He's there.
[01:20:06] Hey, y'all, let's know off our bed.
[01:20:08] Alright guys, this is me and Jacob Shelter for the night.
[01:20:10] I want to finish it up.
[01:20:11] I want to go ahead and put some walls on it
[01:20:13] and get it all batting down.
[01:20:15] a lot windier today, so we're going to be a lot more exposed to the element.
[01:20:19] Well, finding dead trees to cut won't be a problem without nine out of ten trees here
[01:20:23] are dead already.
[01:20:24] In the summertime, this place is a massive forest fire risk, so fitting out some of these
[01:20:28] dead trees won't be a bad thing.
[01:20:45] What's going on?
[01:21:06] How are you doing, Jake, you getting cold?
[01:21:09] What's cold, your hands?
[01:21:11] Let me see your glass.
[01:21:13] So we're gonna stick him in daddy's pocket.
[01:21:16] We'll get him warmed up and got some backup gloves.
[01:21:20] We'll get him ready.
[01:21:22] See our mittens.
[01:21:23] Why don't you go have to drive my pocket when those feels better?
[01:21:26] Then we can switch your gloves back if you want.
[01:21:43] Did you hear that you feel a little cold?
[01:22:07] Do you want me to make a little bed for you?
[01:22:09] Okay.
[01:22:11] Woo.
[01:22:13] Yeah, I think I'm just done.
[01:22:16] I've taken my boys camping in some pretty gnarly conditions and one thing I've learned
[01:22:21] never skimped on the kids sleeping bag.
[01:22:23] Just as if all else fails, you can always put them in their sleeping bag.
[01:22:28] Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh.
[01:22:34] They date you feeling better?
[01:22:36] You like to pick me back?
[01:22:51] You're feet nice and toasty?
[01:23:00] Like that? You're ready for some hot dogs?
[01:23:03] You're doing a good job with that, Jake.
[01:23:13] Do you like your hot dog?
[01:23:15] Yes.
[01:23:17] That's hard to beat a hot dog over a campfire.
[01:23:31] and toasting the sleeping bag.
[01:23:33] Do you want me to get rid of the smoke?
[01:23:35] Okay.
[01:23:38] I got a Jacob fed and warm.
[01:23:40] Now I need to go ahead and process all this wood.
[01:23:51] One thing I wanted to change about this
[01:23:53] four after my last camp out,
[01:23:55] but I want to make this platform a little wider.
[01:24:31] Nice little pile of timber there.
[01:24:46] Taking a little hungry?
[01:24:47] Do you know what this is?
[01:24:49] It's cookie dough.
[01:24:50] That's what the cookies look like before you put them in the oven.
[01:24:58] Do you like that?
[01:25:00] I'm gonna lower this down a little bit.
[01:25:30] Where do you think Jake is that pretty cozy in there?
[01:26:00] How are we going to cook?
[01:26:12] That harder.
[01:26:23] I've been working like a dog from sunrise and sunset but unfortunately that's not a very long time here in Alaska.
[01:26:29] I got a bus out, my lamps, ready to go.
[01:26:46] Okay, these ice fishing sleds make really good beds for little boys.
[01:26:49] You put them on a couple of logs so they're up off the ice.
[01:26:52] Just put a little foam mat in the bottom of this seat.
[01:26:56] Now that'll make a cozy little bed tonight.
[01:26:59] We probably need a pillow, huh?
[01:27:04] Do you want a little head lamp?
[01:27:08] What?
[01:27:10] Yes?
[01:27:11] No.
[01:27:12] First off, they're scared of people.
[01:27:14] These people kill wolves.
[01:27:16] Don't you worry.
[01:27:18] Can I eat for us?
[01:27:19] Slippers.
[01:27:20] They're the camping booties to keep your feet warm.
[01:27:22] You can wear these in your sleeping bag.
[01:27:25] Yeah, see? No cold nose.
[01:27:30] Big we should build a fire, don't you?
[01:27:32] Oh, wow. This shelter just jumped like 20 degrees. It is so warm in here.
[01:27:44] But I got to keep this fire mellow. I don't want to melt my tarp.
[01:27:47] Well, me and Jake are sitting here around the fire and we're having a conversation about wolves.
[01:27:53] about wolves. What do you think about wolves, Dick?
[01:27:55] You worried about any wolves coming and getting us?
[01:27:59] The daddy tell you you're safe?
[01:28:00] Yeah.
[01:28:01] Do you believe daddy?
[01:28:03] No.
[01:28:04] The wolves are scared of people.
[01:28:06] We'll stay far away, especially if you have a campfire.
[01:28:09] The biggest danger around here is moose, but just give them enough space in the
[01:28:12] leave you alone.
[01:28:13] Oh, that fire was roaring and it was getting to be a bit much in this shelter.
[01:28:18] So I went ahead and moved it outside and took some of the cold and put them right here.
[01:28:22] I'm going to go ahead and start cooking some bitter.
[01:28:24] All right, as usual, I got all of the stuff
[01:28:26] that's special prepared for dinner.
[01:28:28] We're going to have some Philly Cheese steak sandwiches.
[01:28:30] It's going to be good.
[01:28:52] All right, we're going to get gigant some food.
[01:29:18] Come on, take a bite.
[01:29:20] I don't know what to eat.
[01:29:22] Oh, we lost you there, buddy. You okay?
[01:29:27] How about a big sandwich?
[01:29:30] Yeah, that sounds good.
[01:29:32] What do you think of that?
[01:29:34] Is that a good?
[01:29:42] I like this, you like this, Jake?
[01:29:44] Yeah, it's a hit in the spot.
[01:29:48] I think I might need to have another one of those all right. I got something a little special for dessert here
[01:30:08] Oh
[01:30:10] Look at that. It's got strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, blueberries
[01:30:18] Look at this, we got pie for you, do you want me to spoon it in your mouth?
[01:30:23] Just because I love you so much, and you're so tired.
[01:30:29] You like the spoooting pie in your mouth?
[01:30:34] Ah, yeah, we don't, we don't feed you pie in bed at home, do we? Is that good?
[01:30:40] No.
[01:30:41] It's no point in leaving, but leftovers, right?
[01:30:44] Oh, it's good.
[01:30:46] It's good.
[01:30:48] Oh, no.
[01:30:49] I got you.
[01:30:51] Oh, that was good.
[01:30:53] All right, guys.
[01:30:54] I'm going to read Jacob some stories.
[01:30:56] My dad used to read to me.
[01:30:57] My brother when we were out camping.
[01:30:59] This is a collection of two bear stories from around Alaska.
[01:31:02] Some of these stories are a little bit intense.
[01:31:04] So I'm going to try to pick an age appropriate one here.
[01:31:07] The bear then lunged at him and they embraced in a death struggle.
[01:31:10] The man using his knife and the bear,
[01:31:12] the bear, it's bangs and claws.
[01:31:15] Well, we've had a good time reading stories
[01:31:17] in eating whipped cream, but Jacob's father is sleeping.
[01:31:20] I think that's time for me to get my bed ready, too.
[01:31:22] We're gonna have a full day, a little day tomorrow, but we may get some sleep.
[01:31:50] I'll see you guys in the morning.
[01:31:52] Well, good morning.
[01:31:53] It's about an hour before sunrise.
[01:31:55] It's being jaked or doing well.
[01:31:57] It's a little cold in here, but we're going to get a fire start.
[01:32:01] Get all nice and toast to you again.
[01:32:09] Did you get a packed by wolves?
[01:32:12] Yeah.
[01:32:13] All right, Jake, you want to get to breakfast?
[01:32:16] We've got little raspberry strutals
[01:32:19] and chocolate croissants.
[01:32:24] Because we can't.
[01:32:27] There you go.
[01:32:29] Oh no no no no no no watch my fingers.
[01:32:33] I also got some chicken and apple breakfast sausages here.
[01:32:36] We're gonna cook those up.
[01:32:38] I also got a couple eggs here.
[01:32:39] We're gonna cook those by the fire.
[01:32:41] Stick those right there.
[01:32:43] There we go.
[01:32:53] Well, I said I got a bit of building to do today, so I'm going to go ahead and clean
[01:33:00] this stuff off and then we're going to get to work.
[01:33:40] Oh, that's...
[01:33:57] How's it going pretty fast?
[01:34:10] Here we go.
[01:34:20] Here we go.
[01:34:25] Here we go.
[01:34:28] I can show.
[01:34:29] It's lost but show.
[01:35:40] Alright, let's just move out.
[01:36:03] Now I just need to do a little trim up and I need to make these edges nice and clean.
[01:36:08] these logs all the same way.
[01:36:38] Well, not too shabby.
[01:36:48] That is a sharp looking shelter right there.
[01:36:51] I'm proud of that.
[01:36:53] There we go.
[01:36:54] Pull the tarboard at the top.
[01:36:55] That thing will get sealed up really good.
[01:36:57] I'm pretty happy with the progress we've made today.
[01:36:59] Unfortunately, I'm not going to get a chance to camp at it tonight.
[01:37:02] Because Jacob, do you want to go home and see Mama?
[01:37:05] Yeah.
[01:37:06] Yeah, I have a little bit left that I want to do on the shelter so I think I'll save that for my next camp out.
[01:37:16] Now one thing I've got to finish when I get back is I've got a wall in this whole backside.
[01:37:25] And the go!
[01:37:27] You good?
[01:37:28] Ah!
[01:37:29] Do you like it when I'm right out in your sleeping bag?
[01:37:34] Oh!
[01:37:36] So we're going to call it for today but don't forget to click subscribe, we put out
[01:37:43] new videos every Saturday morning and we'll be back to camp and finish this shelter.
[01:37:47] And if you want to see my previous video or I started this shelter, I'll put a link to
[01:37:50] that video in the video description below.
[01:37:52] Alright guys, see you later.
[01:38:06] We'll get all the gays. Thanks for watching.
[01:38:10] Fluke here at the Archer Boys YouTube channel.
[01:38:12] At today, me and Jake, we're going to finish
[01:38:14] our bunk bed bushcraft shelter.
[01:38:16] We're also going to eat some amazing food
[01:38:18] and have a great time doing it.
[01:38:33] Thought it was tons of bunny tracks here, Jake.
[01:38:35] Here's Jake.
[01:38:36] That's where the bunnies have eaten the bark off the tree, so they eat in the winter
[01:38:40] time.
[01:38:41] I can see it, we're almost there.
[01:38:48] Alright, we made it.
[01:38:50] And looks like some animals have been visiting.
[01:38:52] This is a moose track for only a day ago.
[01:38:55] So many rabbit tracks here.
[01:38:57] We'll see if they went inside.
[01:38:58] Yeah, there was a bunny wind side or a horn.
[01:39:01] We had houseguests.
[01:39:03] You know that's pretty hard to do. It's no she's on there Jake.
[01:39:08] There we go. There we go. Try that ladder.
[01:39:13] Now you climb it like a cave. Why you use the shovel? Clean off the snow there.
[01:39:18] Well, our shelter looks like it's in pretty good shape.
[01:39:34] Me and Jake are just going to kind of knock the snow off and get things organized and
[01:39:38] then I've got a few improvements I'm going to make.
[01:39:40] I've got a plan in mind that I'm going to need seven small trees.
[01:40:13] Hey dude are you getting told Jacob?
[01:40:36] Do you want to get your sleeping bag?
[01:40:38] Yeah.
[01:40:39] Get some care, go hide down.
[01:40:43] There you go.
[01:40:50] He's snowy boots off.
[01:40:56] Get yourself all warmed up.
[01:41:01] Get down to even that seat in there.
[01:41:04] You want me to get your blanket?
[01:41:06] Okay.
[01:41:07] There you go.
[01:41:10] Oh, Jacob's such a trooper.
[01:41:11] He's been following me around in his snow shoes
[01:41:13] for the last two hours, but his fingers are all cold.
[01:41:16] So I threw him in a sleeping bag,
[01:41:18] gave him some toys and his blankie.
[01:41:20] He's good to go.
[01:41:21] If you're gonna take kids out in this weather,
[01:41:23] have a good sleeping bag.
[01:41:24] A good sleeping bag can fix a lot of problems.
[01:41:40] We'll look at ours.
[01:41:47] I know we said we're going to go to the best buying stuff, but now I'm going to
[01:41:57] food coming, I want to sleep even more. I actually feel like I'm hung over right now. I don't
[01:42:03] know I'm exhausted.
[01:42:12] I guess I have none of this. We end shooting today and start to celebrate tomorrow.
[01:42:16] This is one whole month, but I'm actually seven times a month all day.
[01:42:26] We're already mad just ahead.
[01:42:33] Actually you guys are thinking about this end?
[01:42:39] I don't want to be here.
[01:42:46] Oh my god, own tea, no, Nathan, we'll five get to two ones.
[01:42:59] Okay, come on, wake.
[01:43:01] Ciao, what shall we do?

[01:43:37] I want you to go.
[01:43:41] Get me some, some gonna wake up.
[01:43:45] I want to sleep.
[01:43:46] Don't get to me.
[01:43:47] Yeah, I say we play Val for like a couple hours.
[01:43:51] And then after that, I think we...
[01:43:55] I hope we're just looking pretty good.
[01:43:57] Just like high tail.
[01:43:58] I'm going to touch it.
[01:44:00] I'm going to stop solving the chat, I'm going to go shower real quick, I'm going to go

[01:47:54] Wait, I'll do it now.
[01:47:56] There, I think we play baller it into heightill.
[01:47:59] So, I have a new year actually played heightill.
