[00:00:00] the world right now. My goodness. Oh, that was the best thing I've ever drank. I brought
[00:00:14] a couple more of those tea bags. I think I'm going to use them up. It just spilled boiling water
[00:00:22] on my hands and it didn't hurt. That's how cold I am. I don't know if you'll put this hot water
[00:00:28] my sleeping bag get it warmed up. I got little drops of beef stew on my jacket
[00:00:34] likely it's frozen so I could just press it off. You know, still
[00:00:37] providing on everything. I brought these down booties to wear on the
[00:00:43] tent and they will be warm right now they are freezing. I got my down booties
[00:00:54] my puppy pants on. Let's get it in the tent. I got to pull out all my night filming equipment here.
[00:01:04] All right, got these adhesive body worms. I'm going to bust some of these out. Stick them on my
[00:01:09] undershirt. Oh my toes are so dumb right now. I've got my hot water bottle down in the bottom of my
[00:01:20] back I can barely feel it. So when I can feel feels good guys it is no
[00:01:28] joke cold right now and says it's negative 17 on this mountain right now.
[00:01:33] This is gonna be a no joke freezing camp out. So that's only about six o'clock
[00:01:39] not quite my bedtime yet so I'm gonna put on some audio books and need some
[00:01:43] liquor inch. Now we call that a good time. It's how I party.
[00:01:48] No, that's so important.
[00:01:52] All right, guys.
[00:01:55] Guys, it's about 10 o'clock and my cell phone says it's
[00:01:59] negative 24 degrees outside. It is so cold. This tent is just
[00:02:04] caked in ice. All the moisture from my breath is immediately
[00:02:08] hitting the walls of the tent and turning into crystals.
[00:02:13] The hung my glasses at the top of the tent and look how much frost is gathered up on it
[00:02:18] But other the fact my pillow keeps leaking
[00:02:21] Everything's holding up pretty well. It's pretty late. So I think I'm gonna turn this off. I'll give you guys updates in the morning
[00:02:29] Good morning. Oh, it was so cold last night. I took a screenshot of the temperature
[00:02:35] Round midnight. It was negative 26
[00:02:39] But the sun's come up and now it's a ball me negative 23
[00:02:43] The inside of my tent is so covered in frost.
[00:02:47] This looks like they take my skin off if I tried to put them on.
[00:02:50] Look at all this frost.
[00:02:52] Oh, it's thick.
[00:02:54] Oh, the worst was I kept having to get up to use the bathroom last night.
[00:02:58] When I'd sit up and I'd touch the walls of the tent at all, it would just dump this frost snow on me.
[00:03:04] Get in my bag, get in my face and everything.
[00:03:07] Well, that's a bad, I've helped do it okay.
[00:03:10] It was a rough night's sleep because it is legit cold and this is a little bit more
[00:03:17] than my gear can handle.
[00:03:18] I had to stay in one position if you roll around too much, you get colder, bits of pieces
[00:03:23] of you would be really cold, well, then they'd be warm but I won't cover with my ankles
[00:03:28] just really cold, but my feet hot.
[00:03:32] One hip would be cold and the other one would be warmer.
[00:03:35] It wasn't bad, it wasn't freezing, but it was just enough, or it was a hard to sleep.
[00:03:39] No, but I can tell it is brutally cold, and I don't want to get out of my bag.
[00:03:44] I just stay here for just a little bit longer.
[00:03:56] Oh my goodness.
[00:03:58] Oh my hands my figures are so frozen I can only have my hands out of the gloves for
[00:04:08] about four minutes before they're just toasting.
[00:04:14] That actually just don't work well at this temperature.
[00:04:42] You have to biscuits and gravy, but it's still a little bit crunchy, just can't cook it well enough at this temperature.
[00:04:48] Here's what it is, it's food, and it's moderately warm.
[00:04:54] Alright, I'm going to start putting things away before my hands free.
[00:04:58] This is probably the warmest backpacking man I've ever had.
[00:05:13] Exped makes it it's the Dura 8R.
[00:05:16] It's pretty bulky for a backpacking man, but for winter camping it's awesome.
[00:05:22] This is the extra long and extra wide model.
[00:05:37] There's the absolute worst part, now I've got to put numtose in cold boots.
[00:05:43] Oh, that is icy cold.
[00:05:53] What an adventure.
[00:05:54] This has to be one of the most gorgeous campsites I've ever slept at.
[00:05:58] And look, we've got the sun coming out.
[00:06:01] I feel like it's a ball me negative 18.
[00:06:04] It's much fun as this been.
[00:06:05] I gotta get going.
[00:06:06] I got a long way to go.
[00:06:13] Nice, guys, how much gear is on?
[00:06:43] Oh, I feel so good to feel warms.
[00:06:50] Oh, my feet were so numb.
[00:06:52] Just had to get him to beat warms up.
[00:06:54] It's pretty nice to be kind of hurt.
[00:06:56] I mean, when I look at that,
[00:06:59] the one that's hurting Zart,
[00:07:01] I thought that was frostbite.
[00:07:03] Her job is just lit for my dark police officer.
[00:07:06] He's from Zretto.
[00:07:13] Well, this definitely wasn't interesting camp out. I was expecting the altitude to be a big deal.
[00:07:22] Turns out it wasn't. I was thinking it was gonna be negative 5. Turns out it was negative 26.
[00:07:27] But, you know, I kept warm, I managed to have a good time, and hopefully you guys enjoyed watching.
[00:07:32] If you want to see more camping adventure videos from the outdoor boys YouTube channel,
[00:07:36] make sure to click subscribe, but I'll see you next Saturday.
[00:07:43] We have hundreds of videos just like this and don't forget to click subscribe so you can see other green videos every Saturday
[00:07:55] Look here at the upper boys YouTube channel and I'm all by myself camping without a tent in the wilderness Alaska
[00:08:04] And this is a great opportunity for me to test it theory. I've heard many times. So we're going to find out whether heating up hot rocks can keep you warm in the winter time
[00:08:43] I'm not mistaken, that's a bit of porcupine.
[00:08:58] You can see the little quills right there.
[00:09:00] Porcupines are tasty if you can get past the quills and looks like something did.
[00:09:43] All right, this seems like a nice five-to-can.
[00:09:59] I think I better go fire myself some wood to build the shelter.
[00:10:15] I need to finally, to eight dead trees about this size.
[00:10:31] That shouldn't be too hard.
[00:10:33] There's one.
[00:10:38] I want to use dead trees for my shelter.
[00:10:40] Not just because it's good for the environment, but they're lighter to carry.
[00:10:44] and they cut easier and left over pieces
[00:10:46] big, better firewood.
[00:10:50] Oh, that is a good one right there.
[00:10:58] That's a good one.
[00:11:00] Luckily, there's lots of standing dead wood here.
[00:11:02] We have a beetle in this station here in Alaska.
[00:11:14] Oh, that's a lot of work. You seek a lot further down in the snow and you have
[00:11:32] a log on your shoulders. I'm hauling all the small log first to try to beat a path so
[00:11:42] that when I haul the big logs, I don't think they're on the snow as much.
[00:11:53] Oh, it was easy, but I did it.
[00:11:58] I'm gonna tell you what guys, I'm in love with these boa bindings
[00:12:01] on these tub stoshoos. You can get them on and off so quick,
[00:12:05] even with your gloves on, even when they're covered in ice,
[00:12:08] I'll make some massive difference.
[00:12:11] I'll next step, I need to pick a campsite.
[00:12:38] All right, you can make sure it's strong enough, that'll ask good.
[00:13:08] See all the marks out into the bark? It's from a Japanese spruce bark beetle. That's what killed the tree.
[00:13:14] It's probably killed all of these trees.
[00:14:08] Well, I've got about 90% of my shelter done, but the sun's going to set here in a few minutes,
[00:14:38] need to stop what I'm doing and go get some more firewood. So I've
[00:14:42] better hurry up and get everything gathered around the camp. Well I still
[00:14:45] have some light to see by.
[00:15:08] So I'm gonna get this fire lit and everything is wet. I got one of these little zips fire
[00:15:14] liars. These things are awesome. You can start with a ferris rod even if they're wet.
[00:15:20] So hopefully this will be enough to get this wet wood started.
[00:15:38] It's burning slowly, but it's burning.
[00:15:50] I'm going to put my bed and shelter right there, and the fire there, that way the smoke
[00:15:55] blowing away for me, not blowing into my shelter.
[00:16:08] All right, we got to get some river rocks now, we'll add that one.
[00:16:37] people say that if you put river rocks in a fire that will explode
[00:16:41] yeah sometimes they do sometimes they do
[00:16:44] but yeah we'll see what happens
[00:17:37] Well I got my shelter up including my cot here. It's a bit fidgety, but man, once you get it up, it is so comfortable.
[00:18:00] It is very warm in here and I got a place to sit and I'm not getting rained on and the wind's not on me.
[00:18:06] pretty nice. Now I think it's time to start making some dinner. I am hungry.
[00:18:36] Nice compass by storageable T with a load of sugar in it.
[00:18:41] So first calories I've had all day.
[00:18:44] That is the spot.
[00:18:51] So we've got a big slab of pork jowl bacon.
[00:18:54] I chopped this up and we're going to make a stew out of it tonight.
[00:19:06] I have a big jar of seasonings for the stew here.
[00:19:30] This has got vinegar, salt, pepper, chili powder, mustard, dill, oregano, and a whole bunch
[00:19:37] of other things.
[00:19:40] Oh, yeah.
[00:19:55] Oh, that is a good looking steward right there.
[00:20:02] Yes, I will take some of that.
[00:20:05] Oh, that's good.
[00:20:08] that melted bacon fat mixed in with the vinegar. It's just sweet and savory and tangy.
[00:20:14] It's good. It's getting cold. I've got to bundle up a little bit here.
[00:20:21] I'm on a pony pole, says he's going to step on my pony pole, but that was good.
[00:20:30] Time to do the dishes.
[00:20:38] I'm gonna stack up these rocks, make sure they're all nice and chill with these pile
[00:20:48] up nicely.
[00:20:49] Well, now that I did it out of the way, we get breakfast started.
[00:20:52] I got some bread flour here, and I'm gonna make some bread dough.
[00:20:57] If I get it started now, it'll be nice and ready to cook with tomorrow morning.
[00:21:01] All right, got some yeast and sugar here, add a little water, all right, I'll just put
[00:21:17] it somewhere where it doesn't freeze, and then the yeast will do its thing and we'll
[00:21:20] have bread down in the morning.
[00:21:23] I decided to get ready for bed and went to go pull out my sleeping pad and it's not in my bag.
[00:21:32] I had it clip to the outside and it's gone.
[00:21:36] I think it fell off sometime when I was in the sled.
[00:21:40] So we're going to go see if we can go find it before the snow barries it too much.
[00:21:53] All right, take it on!
[00:22:03] Yay!
[00:22:06] Thank goodness!
[00:22:11] Somebody put it on the truck.
[00:22:13] They must have found it on the trail and realized it belonged to me since I'm the only truck at the trailhead.
[00:22:18] Thank goodness for good honest people.
[00:22:20] I'm going to sleeve a lot warmer tonight because of them I made it back, but I am pretty wet.
[00:22:38] Oh I was getting pretty worried there. I'm really glad I found that.
[00:22:44] Oh, my man is wet, and I'm glad to have it.
[00:22:49] When I do this bushcraft caught, I often slide my bat in between the two layers there,
[00:22:59] but there's a bit of water underneath this, and I don't want to get my downbag wet,
[00:23:05] so I'm going to go ahead and stick this on top of my cart.
[00:23:09] See if that keeps me out of the water a little bit better.
[00:23:13] There you go, got me bid made up in the fort button down as best I can.
[00:23:20] Now I'm going to show you what I'm going to do with my rocks.
[00:23:25] Oh, that's good one.
[00:23:29] Oh, that's a good one.
[00:23:33] Oh, that's a good one.
[00:23:38] There you go, the hot rocks are doing their job because they start to see steam coming off the car.
[00:23:45] Awesome.
[00:23:47] I got a lot of dry firewood in the morning.
[00:23:58] Try to cover up my cold as best I can.
[00:24:01] So hopefully I'll have some dry warm colds in the morning.
[00:24:08] Got my logs and cold buried in hot rocks, so hopefully those will stay dry until
[00:24:16] the morning.
[00:24:18] It's time for me to get to sleep.
[00:24:32] I'm going to drop the camera and I'll see you guys in the morning, okay?
[00:24:38] Hmm, oh, the only thing that can tempt me out of this warm soup and bag is I thought
[00:24:46] of breakfast.
[00:24:47] I really want breakfast.
[00:24:49] Now my socks were a little bit wet last night.
[00:24:55] I just took them off and put them in the bottom of my sleeping bag and got a nice and dry
[00:25:01] and warm.
[00:25:02] It's a nice thing to wake up to.
[00:25:04] We've got a fair amount of snow last night.
[00:25:09] How about three inches and snow last night before I went to bed?
[00:25:12] Looks like we've picked up another half inch of shell while I was asleep.
[00:25:15] Let's see how our rocks didn't protect our fire.
[00:25:19] All right, don't see any embers.
[00:25:26] Still feel a little bit of heat down here.
[00:25:28] Things we might be able to get this fire started if we use a lot of tinder.
[00:25:33] oops that's all I got that's that's not going to cut it all right
[00:25:54] they put a little gasoline in the little bowl right there when you pour
[00:25:58] gasoline on the fire it kind of spreads out and goes out really quick you can
[00:26:02] and put a little jar or something,
[00:26:03] it'll keep the flame going for a long time.
[00:26:24] Oh, look at that, the sunrise.
[00:26:26] Yay, it's been a twilight for like an hour and a half.
[00:26:30] get very long sun rises and sun sets up north. Well that bread cooks I've got
[00:26:47] a little jar of honey and butter I sat by the fire it's getting all nice and
[00:26:51] healthy. Yeah, that's going to be wonderful. You got the rest of this pork
[00:27:08] Jell bacon but a fry up to go with my flatbread.
[00:27:12] Oh yeah.
[00:27:31] Bacon fat, melted butter, honey.
[00:27:34] Carb sugar and fat.
[00:27:36] The three best tasting things on a campout.
[00:27:38] I'm so covered in butter and grease. It's wonderful. Oh that was delicious breakfast,
[00:27:56] but now that I got a full belly I think I need to clean up.
[00:28:03] All right, I know a lot of you guys are wondering about the rocks.
[00:28:10] How did they do?
[00:28:12] Well, the every one of them is stone cold, no pun intended.
[00:28:17] Those rocks were honestly not very useful.
[00:28:19] They kept the bed warm for about 30, 40 minutes and after that, you just really couldn't
[00:28:23] tell they were even there.
[00:28:24] Likewise, the stones that piled up on the fire were cold within a few hours of the fire
[00:28:29] going out.
[00:28:30] installation a hot rock won't stay warm very long even in mild winter conditions like this.
[00:28:47] Oh, what a beautiful campsite. But it's time to go home.
[00:29:00] Startin' rough. I know that's worth, but that looks like my choke is messed up.
[00:29:15] Yeah, that's not good. Alright, I don't know what I did, but I did it. That's why
[00:29:25] always bring snow shoes. That thing don't start in the morning you're walking home.
[00:29:43] I'm headed back to the truck but I can't get inside the locks are frozen.
[00:29:50] All right, gotta go old school.
[00:29:55] There we go!
[00:30:02] Aha!
[00:30:06] That's why they call me hot lips!
[00:30:08] Nobody calls me that!
[00:30:11] Oh!
[00:30:24] Oh, well that was fun. I hope you guys enjoyed watching this video if you want to see more camping videos from the algorithms
[00:30:30] YouTube channel make sure to see our camping adventure playlist if you want to see our more hardcore survival videos
[00:30:36] Check out our survival camping playlist and don't forget to click subscribe because we put out new videos every Saturday morning
[00:30:54] I'm gonna get that ball ball and you'll get more patience. Thanks for watching.
[00:31:00] Look here at the Octopus YouTube channel and I'm in the deserts of Southern Utah and I'm
[00:31:05] camping in a snow storm and searching for ancient native American cities. I have a great
[00:31:10] time. Come along with the ride. It's gonna be awesome.
[00:31:24] Let's see what we can do.
[00:31:28] I love you guys.
[00:31:29] Maybe good for Mama?
[00:31:30] Yes.
[00:31:31] Good.
[00:31:33] Oh, he's a good.
[00:31:35] He's really, really sick.
[00:31:36] I will.
[00:31:37] I want to be doing 11.5 mile hike through a series of canons.
[00:31:41] And rumor has that there's dozens of untouched ancient Native American archaeological sites
[00:31:46] in this canyon, which we can explore.
[00:31:48] I heard one person call this hike and open their museum.
[00:31:51] I'm excited to check this out. This is going to be cool.
[00:31:58] It's kind of a surreal experience. I'm sitting here hiking in the bitter cold with snow
[00:32:03] around and I'm in the middle of the desert.
[00:32:06] It's so weird seeing practices and snow at the same time.
[00:32:21] Oh, I'll check it out, there's some ruins right there.
[00:32:26] So this is the dwelling homes of the Anasazi Indians, the Anasazi's would find these
[00:32:35] outcroppings under these cliffs and they would build their homes here.
[00:32:38] They'd take this flat stone that's everywhere and stack it up and put mud in between it
[00:32:42] and build homes out of it.
[00:32:44] They'd take these cedar beams and sticks, lay them in a crisscross pattern with mud over
[00:32:49] the top.
[00:32:50] There you go. You've got a cozy little home build a fire in here and that heat would reflect brilliantly.
[00:32:56] A lot of these structures like this one were grainaries. They would have very seasonal foods and they would take the surplus food and preserve it and put it in here and
[00:33:04] Then they would wall it all up and they'd just fill this up with rocks and then the animals couldn't get to it
[00:33:10] See they've got a granary back there one right there one right here. Can you see this granary is open?
[00:33:17] But there's this one and this one over there and there's no entrance so it's still sealed up.
[00:33:25] Now who knows what's inside those things? Look at this.
[00:33:29] There's a little piece of pottery right here. That is so cool. This could be a thousand years old.
[00:33:36] I'm just gonna go ahead and put that right back. Now this looks more like a building because there's like a window and a door.
[00:33:43] Whoa, that's cool.
[00:33:49] Just barely enough room that you could lay down
[00:33:51] and build a fire in here,
[00:33:53] which is really all you'd want to do in the wintertime.
[00:33:56] Betting to heat at the summer, this place feels amazing.
[00:34:02] I don't know, that looks like a little shard of pottery right there.
[00:34:05] That's so cool.
[00:34:08] It's a little bit of the mortar that's falling out.
[00:34:11] There's a lie how old it is.
[00:34:14] You know, these pieces of wood have been here for hundreds of years and they haven't
[00:34:18] rotten away.
[00:34:26] This is just amazing.
[00:34:28] This has been here for hundreds of years and nobody has managed to destroy it or fence
[00:34:31] it off.
[00:34:32] That's pretty cool.
[00:34:34] Oh, please.
[00:34:36] Oh, this is cool.
[00:34:40] Can you look at this? Look what I found.
[00:34:42] This is the center of the Indian corn cob.
[00:34:45] Look at that.
[00:34:47] Just leave that right there.
[00:34:49] Pieces of charcoal left over from the campfires here.
[00:34:53] Oh, that is cool.
[00:34:56] Keep finding these pieces of churret or flint.
[00:34:59] I think this is what they used to make arrowheads and spearheads and stuff.
[00:35:03] Man, it just makes so much sense to build your house here.
[00:35:07] If you build your house down the bottom,
[00:35:09] it's gonna flood every time there's a rainstorm.
[00:35:11] You build your house at the top,
[00:35:12] you've got the full sun on you in the summertime,
[00:35:15] and all the cold wind in the winter.
[00:35:17] Well, that was way cool,
[00:35:18] but we've got a lot of ground to cover,
[00:35:20] and a lot more cool stuff to explore.
[00:35:28] So this right here is a wash or a dried up river.
[00:35:31] Here in the desert,
[00:35:32] These are usually just bone dry like you see them now,
[00:35:35] but if it rains even far away,
[00:35:38] these can turn into raging rapids.
[00:35:40] And then you do not wanna be in here.
[00:35:42] If you're in a really narrow canyon
[00:35:44] where you're only choices to walk in the wash,
[00:35:47] this can be really dangerous
[00:35:48] and you gotta watch the wet or closely.
[00:35:50] So that you don't get caught in a flash flood.
[00:35:53] But luckily, this canyon's pretty broad
[00:35:55] and the side don't get that steep,
[00:35:56] so I can get out if I need to.
[00:35:58] Look at these. We got a little road at Prince here. We got some sort of small cap.
[00:36:05] Not seeing any claws in the print.
[00:36:17] Oh, there's another one of those granaries.
[00:36:19] You can see a pack rat's made of it's home. You see all the little pack rat poops?
[00:36:23] So you can see more pack rat nests. They just gather up everything they can and shove it up into these
[00:36:28] All right, they're very cute moving. I got a lot more to see.
[00:36:32] A lot of ground to cover.
[00:36:38] Between this lake rock and the snow,
[00:36:40] finding a trail here, a little bit challenging.
[00:36:43] Luckily, I know I'm supposed to head down hill in the bottom of this canyon,
[00:36:47] so I can't get too lost.
[00:36:52] I was worried I wouldn't see any water on the trail,
[00:36:54] so far there's been plenty.
[00:36:56] In the summertime finding water in these canyons is really hit and mess.
[00:37:10] Oh, look at that view.
[00:37:12] That's pretty.
[00:37:20] So they're doing my snack break.
[00:37:21] I think I see another set of ruins up there.
[00:37:24] I think they'd like to get better look.
[00:37:26] A little bit of something was built here and this is some of that dried mud here and this
[00:37:37] is a little bit of dried mud right there.
[00:37:39] Looks like there are some structures up there maybe but I don't want to break my neck to
[00:37:44] get up there.
[00:37:45] Plus I got a lot of miles to cover you.
[00:37:47] If you spend enough time in this canyon you're going to just find stuff that nobody else
[00:37:50] This is bound.
[00:38:02] Let's take it out.
[00:38:02] The canyon goes over that direction, but we got a little peek-a-boo window into the next canyon
[00:38:06] over.
[00:38:11] If you look way over there at that clamp, just right on this little ledge, you can see more
[00:38:15] ruins right up there.
[00:38:17] How on earth do they get up there?
[00:38:19] There must have had some crazy ladders to get out right up there in the rocks.
[00:38:25] They can see another structure.
[00:38:28] Somebody put this rock here and packed all this mud around it and smeared the mud with
[00:38:40] their fingertips a thousand years ago.
[00:38:43] That is so cool.
[00:38:45] There's another chunk of mud, the rocks sticking out of it.
[00:38:48] You and somebody had to haul all that mud in the food up here to make this granary.
[00:38:53] This is insane. I mean, leave this.
[00:39:02] Another granary right there. Who's idea was it to build up here? Nobody's gonna casually walk off with your food though.
[00:39:09] I get down without killing myself.
[00:39:11] Now I keep stopping and exploring every few minutes, it's making things go a little bit
[00:39:19] slow. I need to pick up the pace. Oh that's deep. Having all this gear on my back doesn't
[00:39:26] make this easier on my quad. Oh! Much again I've got a cottonwood tree. These things
[00:39:34] always grow near water. And looking at this right down there's a spring. You want to
[00:39:39] find water in North America learn how to identify cottonwood trees from far away.
[00:39:43] Oh that's kind of some nasty water though.
[00:39:47] Oh that hurt.
[00:39:49] Oh yeah nice little cactus thorn right in the top of my foot.
[00:39:53] Yeah you definitely want to wear boots and long pants around here.
[00:39:57] 40s pulled a few thorns out of my legs.
[00:40:01] Oh that doesn't feel good.
[00:40:03] Oh, nope, cool the desert's not friendly.
[00:40:13] Ah, it's so cool, tell you what,
[00:40:14] this place is deserted.
[00:40:15] I haven't seen a single person all day.
[00:40:20] To get out, there's some more ruins up there.
[00:40:23] I don't want to urge, they get up there though.
[00:40:27] I don't take it by the back back off of this one.
[00:40:33] I think that used to be a pretty good size set of ruins here, and these rocks broke off the cliff face and smashed it.
[00:40:45] Look at this.
[00:40:52] Oh, look at this. There's a whole bunch more right down there.
[00:41:00] There's a room down here, so
[00:41:03] Oh, wow.
[00:41:08] Oh, wow.
[00:41:10] I'm sorry, the Indians drew this.
[00:41:12] Look at all these drawings.
[00:41:14] These might be as much as 2000 years old.
[00:41:17] That is so cool.
[00:41:19] They'll hand-prens they do.
[00:41:21] Look at that.
[00:41:23] Wonder what the rhyme and reason to this artwork is?
[00:41:25] I mean, these figures don't have heads.
[00:41:28] But this one's got nipples.
[00:41:30] Look at it.
[00:41:32] and you can see all these hand prints.
[00:41:35] Look at them, they're just tons of them.
[00:41:39] Check out these corn cobs.
[00:41:41] The Anasosis would grow corn and store it here.
[00:41:44] Look at that.
[00:41:45] That's hundreds of years old.
[00:41:48] See this used to be someone's house right there.
[00:41:50] You can see the mud walls right down there.
[00:41:55] It's supposed to be like a little granary or something.
[00:41:57] There's a little hill that's mud up here and there's a big pile of corn cobs.
[00:42:00] As I read enough a little bit on the history of this place before coming here and apparently while the last note occupants of this place around
[00:42:08] 1280 there's been people that there were been here for thousands of years prior to that you see all these big rocks at a fall and down
[00:42:16] I bet there was the huge ledge that was all along here because look there's paintings all the way up there
[00:42:22] I can see lots of drawing of corn stalks and different people hand prints
[00:42:27] That's like a turkey or something right there.
[00:42:30] I have got to get going.
[00:42:32] I am not making very good time because I keep stopping and exploring all the time.
[00:42:41] Look at that, you can barely tell that's up there.
[00:42:43] If I hadn't spotted the petroglyphs in a bit of that wall, I would have never known.
[00:42:47] I wonder how many of these things I've walked right past.
[00:42:50] Look at all of these canyon walls up here.
[00:42:52] It could be a whole city's hiding up there that I just missed.
[00:42:57] That was a great spot.
[00:43:12] Oh, I think I could see more ruins up there in the cliffs.
[00:43:22] How on earth you get up there though
[00:43:28] I can see it peaking out of that cave, but how do you get up there? I think I need to drop my pack here
[00:43:52] It's more of a bit to core.
[00:43:55] Clear it out there.
[00:43:57] That is a very old piece of bone.
[00:44:00] Another piece of bone.
[00:44:02] It's more core.
[00:44:05] Should we get that symbol to line with the vertical lines coming down for me?
[00:44:08] I saw that at the other place.
[00:44:10] See you, my Floyd.
[00:44:12] Yeah, on an action start.
[00:44:22] U.S.
[00:44:45] We're on Pado.
[00:44:48] 1891.
[00:44:50] I guess.
[00:44:51] I think at some point graffiti becomes historic.
[00:44:54] I think that qualifies.
[00:44:55] You can see right there at the bit of a wall, a little bit of a staircase.
[00:45:03] There's something piece of corn right there.
[00:45:06] I think it's the auto-restudy cat.
[00:45:09] Oh, bamboo.
[00:45:11] Where did they get bamboo from?
[00:45:13] see some walls right here.
[00:45:22] To get out you can see all the black charring on the inside of this wall.
[00:45:26] Probably from all the fires they have in here to keep them warm in the winter.
[00:45:31] Click all the black on the ceiling.
[00:45:34] There must have been another enclosure here but it's all gone.
[00:45:37] More corn husks.
[00:45:40] A little flip flake for making air.
[00:45:43] Ryan, thanks for getting in today's shot.
[00:45:45] Yeah, so we covered the spiral in the wall.
[00:45:49] Sitting there for 100 years.
[00:45:51] It's great.
[00:45:52] You see where snakes littered in here, slithered out?
[00:45:55] I don't see any footprints.
[00:45:56] I don't know what the last time a human being was in here.
[00:45:59] This is quite a view to having your living room.
[00:46:01] Look at that.
[00:46:06] So another little cash right in here.
[00:46:09] Oh, hey check this out. See this depression right here thousand years ago. This is how people made flour
[00:46:15] Just put the cornmeal right in here and just grind it all up until it's fine powder
[00:46:23] Oh, I'll check it out there's more over here
[00:46:26] I'm just buried a good chunk of this
[00:46:29] Oh, he got to pack rat skull right there.
[00:46:40] All right, now for the tricky part. I need to get down.
[00:46:45] Oh, I don't really need to steep yesterday.
[00:46:51] Thank you. I'm in the little bit of a pickle. Sun sets in 2 1 1
[00:47:04] hours. I'm about a quarter of away from the high. I have stopped in the
[00:47:09] field. Yeah.
[00:47:10] Oh, you fucked me today.
[00:47:14] Why?
[00:47:17] Left with that window, fully open.
[00:47:20] I woke up at 6.30.
[00:47:21] I am a facet that three.
[00:47:23] Too much.
[00:47:24] If I were to show you the interesting thing,
[00:47:26] this is the, I think I was so cold.
[00:47:28] Makes and tracks.
[00:47:29] I got sick.
[00:47:30] That's why I'm so hot right now.
[00:47:31] I told you, no, put things here on that.
[00:47:33] Yeah.
[00:47:34] Yeah.
[00:47:35] And I'm just going back to see that.
[00:47:38] I could forget no one knows that.
[00:47:45] I can't wait.
[00:47:47] I can't wait.
[00:47:48] I can't wait.
[00:47:49] There's so many side canons.
[00:47:51] I'm looking at it.
[00:47:52] I can spend a week exploring all these ruins.
[00:47:56] I like a tumbleweed.
[00:47:59] I really like a lot of garlic.
[00:48:01] I'm not really calm tumbleweed.
[00:48:02] So tired.
[00:48:03] Two more ruins and I can't wait.
[00:48:06] there. Oh, quite a few springs. I gotta come back here with the boys and do this hike.
[00:48:15] Wow.
[00:48:16] I'm tired.
[00:48:17] I'm tired.
[00:48:18] It's with the kids call thick.
[00:48:20] Maybe a fun little campfire right there.
[00:48:26] Oh, there's so much stuff up there. I'm a minute, if I'm a minute.
[00:48:29] I'm getting good time, but at what cost?
[00:48:31] I really have to get it.
[00:48:34] I'm going to poop so bad, my stomach is hurting so much.
[00:48:36] Yeah, I'm going to.
[00:48:39] I'm making good progress right now.
[00:48:41] And I've got to keep out it for two good reasons.
[00:48:44] One is the one of the coolest archaeological sites on this whole hike.
[00:48:49] It's just up ahead and I want to see it before the sun goes down.
[00:48:52] And about an hour and a half.
[00:48:54] In two, it's supposed to start running after dark tomorrow.
[00:48:57] So I've got to get out of these washes before they flush out.
[00:49:01] We're going to go do a ducy.
[00:49:04] I can see some small ruins right over there.
[00:49:06] Charter and phone, for a little bit.
[00:49:07] I don't want to shoot it.
[00:49:09] Yeah, I don't want to shoot it.
[00:49:11] I'm going to take care of some ruins up there too.
[00:49:13] You can spend days searching this canyon.
[00:49:17] There's some really good ruins over here.
[00:49:21] Gotta check it out.
[00:49:22] Just briefly.
[00:49:24] Look at this.
[00:49:25] It's not as really in good shape.
[00:49:27] Look at the size of that.
[00:49:29] Kind of so cool, but I've got to get going.
[00:49:34] I know there's a storm coming tonight and I can feel it in the wind now. The wind's
[00:49:39] changed. It feels up to the shot. I'm chatting. My child, do we skip the gym or no?
[00:49:47] I'll make a snow on cigarette now. I'll not go high. It's not going to be in a so cold
[00:49:51] bro. I hate like waking up in the morning. I can see the ruins and petroglyphs up there.
[00:49:57] Okay, you're going to check it out. That's up for four hours in the night. We're going back
[00:50:01] back here.
[00:50:06] Wow.
[00:50:08] I was about 80 in my post in a motivational story on my Instagram too.
[00:50:12] How can I skip the gym after that?
[00:50:14] That's fucked.
[00:50:16] I feel like I should skip the gym.
[00:50:18] I feel tired.
[00:50:19] I can take it with mud.
[00:50:21] I can somewhat come in and massage my legs for me.
[00:50:24] That was cool.
[00:50:26] Oh my god, wait, I'm actually a fucking loser.
[00:50:35] I posted that motivation shit and I went right back to sleep.
[00:50:40] It sounded just awesome.
[00:50:42] Be fair though, I only saw five hours and I was so cold.
[00:50:48] I'm still put the window open, I was so cold.
[00:50:52] and shot will not thank you for the prime to me I love you
[00:51:03] and you want to see
[00:51:05] off chat today's variety
[00:51:08] but you guys want to play first to each
[00:51:10] I would even have to set up my cat I could just throw down my
[00:51:13] variety all day
[00:51:14] and I can't fire and this would be really nice.
[00:51:17] That long way to go to make my rendezvous with Beck in the morning.
[00:51:20] If we go to the gym, that's going to be another L-Sherry, and I'm not going to lie because we'd be back at three hours, I think.
[00:51:26] I'm not going to make it in the morning.
[00:51:29] If we have to skip the gym guys.
[00:51:30] We need to make some tracks before sunset.
[00:51:34] I don't want to have another L-Sherry, yesterday we shoot like 12 hours, like I don't want more.
[00:51:44] I think we are also balanced to build a barb of your ship.
[00:51:54] That would say high tail.
[00:51:56] We are going to play out a lot.
[00:51:59] I feel a place to sleep.
[00:52:01] I hope there is a really any other game which we can play.
[00:52:05] I can take a picture with you a third.
[00:52:07] What are you doing?
[00:52:09] you get a much better feel for what these houses look like when they were in
[00:52:13] tech got the headlight out.
[00:52:16] Wait I got five gifted actually.
[00:52:19] I mean we got a lot of you who get the time to call it the top shelf to
[00:52:26] look stuff.
[00:52:27] I can see what somebody would want this in the desert.
[00:52:29] Now this would be cool in the summer and warm in the winter.
[00:52:33] I think I got to go down here.
[00:52:37] E-9.
[00:52:47] There's your O-Gun.
[00:52:49] I think that's a lot of pack-wreck urine and poo.
[00:52:52] That's your little girl's.
[00:52:54] You got these logs supporting the roof?
[00:52:57] Oh, there's grass and stuff in between.
[00:53:00] Yeah, they've got a little hole to let air in there.
[00:53:02] And you stay in my name, Chase?
[00:53:04] Oh, I got it.
[00:53:05] Oh my god Sam, it just looks like a cold vehicle, we shouldn't have wondered
[00:53:14] his looking so good.
[00:53:16] My back is hurting from that guy.
[00:53:19] It's hot.
[00:53:23] How about we let Sam take over to this room?
[00:53:29] Let me take it off the floor.
[00:53:32] off the hill. On the 21st of so many games to watch, you go off the hill, and it's
[00:53:40] washed my foot. Priority. So one of the reasons I'm pushing it, even though it's
[00:53:44] a little bit. I know that every mile I can do now. I want to go party. I want to go
[00:53:50] party. No, party, bro. Oh, I didn't even realize we slept so long. Well, same
[00:53:58] dead. I didn't get that much sleep. They have so long to our shrew reset again.
[00:54:04] Alright, we've got a clown tomorrow. Hey! What is up YouTube? Welcome back to
[00:54:09] Day 5 of the Shanks and some sleepers on. Oh, you guys enjoy the first four days.
[00:54:17] Day 4 is pretty awesome. I'm not gonna lie. Day 1 was sent to Monday.
[00:54:20] Day 2 was sent to Monday. They're just pretty fun as well. Now we're on Day 5.
[00:54:25] Bang they said whenever we go into and sleep with on I think we're going to end it on February 4th
[00:54:34] team on Valentine's Day because that's when I will be flying to LA if anyone isn't LA in a symbol and also hang out with me
[00:54:44] I'd be down nice
[00:54:47] Hi!
[00:54:49] So you shower when you wake up?
[00:54:51] Yeah, I'm pretty warm.
[00:54:53] Yeah, I need your shower, I'm not gonna lie.
[00:54:55] I'm getting really cold.
[00:54:57] I need your shower and I need to get food.
[00:54:59] Get it, get it, get it.
[00:55:09] Pretty good, you have a plan for Valentine's Day?
[00:55:13] No, be honest.
[00:55:15] I think it could be enough to do like an hour in content on Valentine's Day.
[00:55:28] You get that plan?
[00:55:46] G2 contract of doom. Now the after we've had planned on not changing the net.
[00:55:51] I tried to have a single fat when we tried to delay us.
[00:55:54] come up to that way. I'll be doing a problem with it.
[00:55:58] So many chances to fill up on water. I just didn't think I needed to.
[00:56:02] I was in a hurry.
[00:56:04] Now this is my last Gulf of water.
[00:56:06] They probably think I'm a loser.
[00:56:10] I'm going to go film called down a long time ago.
[00:56:12] We're charged.
[00:56:14] We're charged.
[00:56:16] We can't catch the rain.
[00:56:20] You're a child. Are you guys single?
[00:56:22] You guys single, W in the chat if you're single,
[00:56:25] L in the chat if you're taken,
[00:56:26] like no, but yeah,
[00:56:29] I'd be first to go out if you're taken.
[00:56:35] Holy shit, my whole chat is coming W right now.
[00:56:42] Wait, so we are single, all of us are single.
[00:56:52] a little curious to see what it looks like. Yes, we do.
[00:57:02] I've been snowing rain in my pot, so I got some water. Are you going to single
[00:57:07] by choice or cut?
[00:57:11] Voice or chub?
[00:57:17] We're actually all single time.
[00:57:24] We're actually all single time.
[00:57:29] Oh my god.
[00:57:31] So ugly.
[00:57:33] So ugly.
[00:57:35] We're going to make some touch shot.
[00:57:38] We're going to wash out my cup all the same water.
[00:57:40] Because water is a precious commodity here.
[00:57:43] You are too low yellow to be in a relationship, that's been I got from Sam Shack.
[00:57:50] Matter of fact, good enough for my chats to you.
[00:57:54] What? You guys don't think I have good yellow right now?
[00:57:56] Like I work all day, work all day, like I've been like you know?
[00:58:01] Now let's shit.
[00:58:13] Now we need to go find the path.
[00:58:15] It's somewhere over here,
[00:58:17] but you can see what the snow makes things tricky.
[00:58:24] My push hard last night,
[00:58:25] I do about four and a half miles in the dark.
[00:58:27] And I am really glad I did that.
[00:58:30] I'm in really easy striking.
[00:58:31] I'm in my arms, you're tinder.
[00:58:34] And I am really glad to not be hiking
[00:58:37] on that slick rock in this rock.
[00:58:39] I've never paid for a woman one mile.
[00:58:41] I think I've never done this in the worst.
[00:58:45] It is the absolute worst.
[00:58:46] I'll take negative warning over freezing rain.
[00:58:49] That's him.
[00:58:50] He got fresh deer tracks.
[00:58:52] He was most of been this morning.
[00:58:54] He was only a little bit of snow at him.
[00:58:56] I made it, and most importantly, I didn't keep my life waiting.
[00:59:03] Who?
[00:59:04] I hope you can.
[00:59:05] If you went on a date, you technically paid for a woman.
[00:59:08] I guess check out her playlist.
[00:59:10] We have an entire camping adventure playlist.
[00:59:12] You caught me.
[00:59:13] You caught me.
[00:59:14] Wait a while.
[00:59:15] Yeah, I mean, I guess.
[00:59:16] Those playlists in the video description below.
[00:59:18] If you want to see me, you can see me.
[00:59:19] I mean, if you're clearly bad, I mean, I guess.
[00:59:22] Because we put out videos every Saturday morning.
[00:59:25] All right.
[00:59:26] I'll see you next Saturday.
[00:59:27] Take care.
[00:59:28] Take care.
[00:59:29] I'm not saying.
[00:59:30] Oh, gosh.
[00:59:31] It's like he's video.
[00:59:33] He's very funny.
[00:59:34] He's very funny.
[00:59:36] You should watch his videos.
[00:59:37] He was actually one of the very first.
[00:59:39] Honestly, if you're in Asian growing up around my age, Ryan, he goes like, you're good, like, he was your god.
[00:59:48] I think like, I remember in like 2021 when I started playing baller, I was like, making these for myself, like,
[00:59:55] he was in my child, I played with him, he really did me before, like, I was actually fan-brained, so hard, like, he's actually the guy to go.
[01:00:03] Look at it.
[01:00:15] Marae, see how driving the gym can you? I'm not going to lie.
[01:00:18] We have a very good gym day yesterday, so I'll maybe that's fine with stuff so good, but
[01:00:23] we look up to late.
[01:00:26] We have a rest day tomorrow. This is our late day today, but
[01:00:31] Is it bad if we skip the gym today and do likes tomorrow?
[01:00:35] Then then not have a rest day when each other day
[01:00:39] I don't want to do like another shit shit machine all the play everything today
[01:00:44] I'm fucking everything
[01:00:48] Just stop to look back at me see if I'm chasing him. He ever scare her out of it. Just be cool
[01:00:53] And they'll usually stop right before they get out of somewhere.
[01:00:56] No, it's fine.
[01:00:57] W can't even go home again.
[01:01:00] Damn.
[01:01:02] Damn, we're skipping legs today.
[01:01:04] All right, we got to play it.
[01:01:05] You'll see him.
[01:01:06] Do you want to come?
[01:01:07] I'm going to order on my phone.
[01:01:08] I'm so hungry right now.
[01:01:10] I'll get to order at 9 a.m.
[01:01:12] You need to skip the gym today.
[01:01:14] Your body's clearly telling you that you need to have a degree.
[01:01:17] I'm going to need to drop down at least 12-15 dead.
[01:01:20] Oh, that's why I was left so much.
[01:01:24] I think Sam did such a good workout yesterday too.
[01:01:26] That's why he slept so much.
[01:01:27] Is your shoulders so hurting, big bro?
[01:01:31] You wanna say hi to my mom?
[01:01:35] Yeah, I'm gonna say hi to him.
[01:01:36] Okay, I'm gonna say hi to him on track.
[01:01:38] I'd go.
[01:01:39] I'm on a low key, like, talk to him, I was like 10 to 15 minutes, but I was like,
[01:01:52] like, low key, my mom, she's my own trip, so we low key have a lot to talk about.
[01:01:57] So, I'm going to go podcast with Sam's mom a little bit chat.
[01:02:01] Yeah, yeah.
[01:02:02] We're going to give you a lot of time.
[01:02:03] We're going to give you a lot of time, and we're going to give you a lot of time.
[01:02:06] that you care of, say, bro, Sam's mom loves me.
[01:02:11] It's literally like, right?
[01:02:12] I think I'm so far home, pretending to have your mind.
[01:02:15] You want to know your clothes on the phone, do it.
[01:02:17] You want the larger one to do it.
[01:02:19] Okay.
[01:02:20] I'll be your mama's mom.
[01:02:22] Gosh, you're my second mama's ready, guys.
[01:02:24] There's a good chance you're going to get this.
[01:02:27] Have you free loader?
[01:02:28] I think smoke wild caught suck I salmon go with this.
[01:02:32] I'm probably gonna buy like a hundred raises like the skewge bar which is probably gonna buy
[01:02:40] Sam bought Sam's down like a couple like alcohol bottles or something I need to give them something very
[01:02:45] kind of something else I should give them the same.
[01:02:48] And they'll not let me pay for rent or anything so I think I want to buy them like a person.
[01:02:52] All right, got a good pile of trees going here. I need to take all the limbs off them to do that.
[01:02:56] Lamborghini, a new watch of the chisel edge, yeah, I think I'm just gonna give them a hug instead of saying goodbye, you said a go on.
[01:03:09] Do you have the guy in him?
[01:03:11] the car
[01:03:18] there they go
[01:03:20] and you can think that yeah
[01:03:22] big
[01:03:23] are they watching energy academy today
[01:03:26] um
[01:03:28] or other run a marathon outside
[01:03:31] so probably not
[01:03:33] of course watch energy academy
[01:03:36] and you want that
[01:03:38] They even play games, yes, today we're going to be playing.
[01:03:52] Through Arts and Valorant, High Tail, Outlaw Shrioles, and if there's any other game
[01:03:59] you guys want to see, then you get to let me know.
[01:04:02] But I need to go see how it is here in the long chart. So good for her.
[01:05:02] That seems nice.
[01:05:30] So this is my sleeping platform and I've got to be really thorough and go through and take
[01:05:34] out every little knot and stick because I don't want anything putting a hole in my sleeping
[01:05:39] bag.
[01:05:40] I don't want to have anything stabbing me in the back while I'm sleeping.
[01:05:43] So this is one of those jobs that you really want to take your time and do it right.
[01:05:47] You also want to get the edges of the front back log as well because if your tarp goes
[01:05:52] up the back or your dingle, your legs off the side, you don't want ripping any material.
[01:06:00] I've only been here for three hours and the sun's already setting.
[01:06:15] I can start so quick up here.
[01:06:19] Hi guys, here's my bag of lamps, about five pounds of just lights, with 18 hours of darkness
[01:06:26] here.
[01:06:27] You've got to bring a lot of lights and a lot of batteries.
[01:06:30] And this right here is my box of batteries.
[01:06:33] So I've got 16 GoPro batteries and a back of battery for my cell phone and for my GPS.
[01:06:39] That weighs another five pounds.
[01:06:40] So between camera batteries and camera lights, I've got about 10 pounds of gear I bring
[01:06:44] with me at a minimum on every one of these trips.
[01:07:14] All right.
[01:07:24] No, I'm sure I'll find those in this spring.
[01:07:37] Well, I didn't get as much done as it was hoping, but the sun has set.
[01:07:44] run on Twilight. So I need to hurry up and get some firewood and gather up everything around the camp because it's gonna get really dark real quick
[01:08:02] I brought along a couple of caribou hides. I'm gonna lay him down on the wood to help protect my sleeping bag and to give me some insulation. This caribou hide is a really good insulator
[01:08:14] The hairs of the caribou are hollow, so they make really good insulators.
[01:08:21] Despite the shedding these caribou hides hold up pretty well, I've been camping on
[01:08:44] I'm getting hungry. I need to cook some dinner.
[01:09:00] Ah, that dry dead pine goes up like gasoline.
[01:09:04] Oh, the temperature is dropped and I'll buy it to myself up a little bit.
[01:09:19] I'm gonna have some hot tea.
[01:09:49] You don't cold tank is okay, but when you heat it up it's like wassel or spiced oranges.
[01:10:00] It's actually really good.
[01:10:02] All right guys, it's time for dinner and I'm going to be making something special.
[01:10:09] I'm roasted lamb shank, I love lamb.
[01:10:14] All right, got that bone exposed, got a touch of olive oil here, just want it oily
[01:10:22] so that all the herbs will stick to it.
[01:10:24] All right, we got some coarse salt, some black pepper.
[01:10:29] We're going to sit it over this fire, and just sear the outside of it.
[01:10:43] Oh, yeah, nice steer on that.
[01:10:54] Now we're gonna roast it slow and low.
[01:10:59] I'm just gonna go ahead and head
[01:11:00] and add some rosemary time and parsley to the roast.
[01:11:03] I don't know what it is about shelling peanuts, but they taste so much better when
[01:11:28] you shell them yourself.
[01:11:29] I think it's a metaphor for life, you just enjoy things a lot more when you have to work for them.
[01:11:38] Alright, I got a little Indian butter curry, it's an instant rice to go with my land here.
[01:11:43] I'm gonna start boiling that up.
[01:11:52] Alright, I'm gonna pull this lamb shake out, just let it rest here by the fire for a little bit.
[01:11:57] Let's take a peek.
[01:12:08] Oh my goodness.
[01:12:10] That is so beautiful.
[01:12:19] Thought it was to brought a couple pieces of knot, too, because you know why not?
[01:12:27] Yeah. Oh, that's perfect. There we go, guys. Rose did lamb shank butter curry and non.
[01:12:35] That is, oh, it smells amazing. All right, we're going to try out this lamb shank.
[01:12:41] That is so good. I don't need to lay them up. Mmm, just salt and pepper is so good.
[01:12:51] Oh, it carries good too.
[01:12:58] Whoa, I am stuck.
[01:13:01] Alright, I need to do some dishes.
[01:13:15] Alright, get started to get ready for bed.
[01:13:21] I was getting into bed and I knocked my pillow into the fire and I jumped down and grabbed
[01:13:29] it but the damage was done.
[01:13:31] Now it's got a little hole in it.
[01:13:34] I have got a little stuff sack and my turnt came in and I'm going to put my down jacket
[01:13:39] inside and we're going to do a little DIY as hell though.
[01:13:44] There we go, it's not too bad of a solution.
[01:13:47] How does it be careful?
[01:13:49] Wanna make sure I don't drop anything else in the fire,
[01:13:51] including myself?
[01:13:52] Luckily, I don't roll around much so I think I should be okay.
[01:13:55] I'm gonna put up this camera,
[01:13:56] I'm gonna see you guys in the morning.
[01:14:04] Ooh, good morning.
[01:14:06] Oh, man, I slept really well last night.
[01:14:09] I'm so warm with this bag.
[01:14:12] But the fire was still going,
[01:14:13] it was heating the platform for underneath,
[01:14:16] It'd just be this nice gentle warm feeling coming up through the bat.
[01:14:21] But even with the fire hour, I'm still a lot warmer that's sleeping on the ground.
[01:14:25] The ground just sucks the heat out of you.
[01:14:28] It's being awesome that ground makes a big difference.
[01:14:32] But I think it's time for me to get up and build the fire and make some breakfast.
[01:14:42] nice and frozen. I feel like ski boots.
[01:14:49] ski boots, well this shelter works pretty well but there's actually a
[01:15:12] a feature that's really cool about it. I didn't get to use the last night.
[01:15:26] You know, that's not a bad shelter.
[01:15:28] Now, heat of the fire goes up and out.
[01:15:31] So when you elevate the bed, you capture more of the heat from the fire.
[01:15:35] As opposed to sitting on the ground next to the fire.
[01:15:37] Plus, here in the wintertime, you never quite know what the ground situation is.
[01:15:41] having an elevated bed just avoids all that problem.
[01:15:45] I actually had a lot of other plants through the shelter.
[01:15:47] I was going to put a wall up there and there,
[01:15:49] but I ran out of time, but I'm thinking I might come back here,
[01:15:52] and keep working on this project,
[01:15:54] and turning it into a proper long-term survival shelter.
[01:15:57] But I'm hungry. I'm going to make some food now.
[01:16:41] We've got a pancake with fresh blueberries that are not too shabby.
[01:16:47] Blueberry pancake is a maple syrup.
[01:16:51] All right, fried spam and pancakes, good combination.
[01:16:58] It is hard to beat blueberry pancakes with maple syrup.
[01:17:02] All right, time for seconds here.
[01:17:06] Oh, yeah, yeah.
[01:17:10] Oh, I was a kid, me and my family would go camping here in Alaska, and we would go
[01:17:17] bury picking and pick wild blueberries, and all would make blueberry pancakes every
[01:17:21] morning, spring back a lot of fun memories. All right, I think it's time to start cleaning
[01:17:26] this party up.
[01:17:36] Well, I'm definitely going to come back here and I'm going to put walls on that thing,
[01:17:57] maybe a roof, I'm going to seal it up all really nice and get it super cozy, but that's
[01:18:01] going to be another video.
[01:18:02] If you guys want to see that video, make sure to click subscribe to the outdoor boys
[01:18:05] YouTube channel. We put out new videos every Saturday morning. All right guys, I'll see you next Saturday.
[01:18:35] and eat in great food.
[01:18:37] Have a good time bud?
[01:18:39] Yeah!
[01:18:57] Are you doing good?
[01:18:59] Yeah, I'm just going to check for a spin.
[01:19:01] Oh, you're good?
[01:19:11] Yeah.
[01:19:13] They did give me a high five.
[01:19:19] Aren't they impressed? You sell through the long way, bud?
[01:19:22] I did.
[01:19:23] No, let me do that.
[01:19:24] Yeah, you didn't rest that much.
[01:19:26] Should we start getting camp set up?
[01:19:28] Yes.
[01:19:31] Right here, going down, this one's heavy butch.
[01:19:40] You know that's no offer bed.
[01:19:47] Alright guys, this is me and Jacob Shelter for the night.
[01:19:49] I want to finish it up.
[01:19:50] I want to go ahead and put some walls on it and get it all batten down because this
[01:19:54] is a lot windier today.
[01:19:55] So we're going to be a lot more exposed to the element.
[01:19:57] Well, finding dead trees to cut won't be a problem
[01:19:59] a problem about 9 out of 10 trees here are dead already. In the summertime, this place is a massive forest fire risk. So fitting out some of these dead trees won't be a bad thing.
[01:20:29] How are you doing, Jake, you're getting cold?
[01:20:47] What's cold, your hands?
[01:20:49] Let me see your gun.
[01:20:51] Okay?
[01:20:52] So we're gonna stick them in daddy's pocket.
[01:20:56] You get them warmed up and got some backup gloves.
[01:20:59] Grab a bag.
[01:21:00] See?
[01:21:01] They are mittens.
[01:21:02] Why don't you go to drive my pocket when those feels better, then we can switch
[01:21:05] your gloves back if you want.
[01:21:22] Did you take it, but you feel a little cold, so let me make it a little bed for you?
[01:21:48] Okay.
[01:21:54] I've taken my boys, camping and some pretty gnarly conditions, and one thing I've learned
[01:22:00] never skimmed on the kids sleeping bag.
[01:22:02] Because if all else fails, you can always put them in their sleeping bag.
[01:22:11] Oh yeah.
[01:22:13] They did you feel better?
[01:22:15] You like your sleeping bag?
[01:22:18] You're feet nice and toasty?
[01:22:33] All right.
[01:22:36] Thank you.
[01:22:39] Are you ready for some hot dogs?
[01:22:42] Yeah.
[01:22:43] It's not my most interesting weather.
[01:22:47] All right.
[01:22:49] You're going to do it a good job with that, Jay.
[01:22:53] Do you like your hot dog?
[01:22:54] Yeah.
[01:23:00] That's hard to beat a hot dog over a campfire.
[01:23:10] You nice and toasty and your sleepy bag?
[01:23:12] Do you want me to get rid of the smoke?
[01:23:13] Wow.
[01:23:14] Okay.
[01:23:17] I got a Jacob fed in warm.
[01:23:18] Now I need to go ahead and process all this wood.
[01:23:30] One thing I wanted to change about this fort
[01:23:32] after my last camp out,
[01:23:34] but I want to make this platform a little wider.
[01:24:12] Nice little pile of timber there.
[01:24:25] Kaking a little hungry?
[01:24:26] Do you know what this is?
[01:24:28] It's cookie dough.
[01:24:29] That's what the cookies look like before you put them in the oven.
[01:24:36] Do you like that?
[01:24:39] I'm gonna lower this down a little bit.
[01:25:09] Where do you think Jake is that pretty cozy in there?
[01:25:39] Are we gonna cook?
[01:25:51] Sorry dear.
[01:26:03] Bob had working like a dog from sunrise to sunset, but unfortunately that's not a very long time here in Alaska.
[01:26:08] I've got a bust out, my lamp's ready too.
[01:26:24] Okay, these ice fishing sleds make really good beds for little boys.
[01:26:28] You put them on a couple of logs so they're up off the ice.
[01:26:30] Just put them on a little foam mat and the bottom of the sea.
[01:26:35] Now that'll make a cozy little bed tonight.
[01:26:38] We probably need a pillow, huh?
[01:26:42] Do you want a little head lamp?
[01:26:47] What?
[01:26:49] There.
[01:26:50] There.
[01:26:51] First off, they're scared of people.
[01:26:53] There's people killed walls.
[01:26:55] Don't see where they're.
[01:26:57] Can they?
[01:26:58] Slippers.
[01:26:59] They're like camping, booties.
[01:27:00] They keep your feet warm.
[01:27:01] You can wear these in your sleeping bag.
[01:27:03] Yeah, see? No cold tones. I think we should build a fire, don't you?
[01:27:18] Oh, wow. This shelter just jumped like 20 degrees. It is so warm in here.
[01:27:23] But I gotta keep this fire in the mellow. I don't want to melt my tarp.
[01:27:27] Well, me and Jake are sitting here around the fire and we're having a conversation about wolves.
[01:27:32] What do you think about wolves, Jake?
[01:27:34] You worried about any wolves coming to get in us?
[01:27:37] The daddy tell you you're safe?
[01:27:39] Do you believe daddy?
[01:27:41] No.
[01:27:43] The wolves are scared of people who will stay far away, especially if you have a campfire.
[01:27:47] The biggest danger around here is moose, but just give them enough space and they'll leave you alone.
[01:27:52] Oh, that fire was roaring and it was getting to be a bit much in this shelter.
[01:27:56] So I went ahead and moved it outside and took some of the coals and put them right here.
[01:28:01] I'm going to go ahead and start cooking some dinner.
[01:28:03] All right, as usual, I got a little something special prepared for dinner.
[01:28:06] We're going to have some fili cheese steak sandwiches.
[01:28:09] It's going to be good.
[01:28:26] All right, we're going to get Jacob some
[01:28:56] food. Can you take him? Take the buddy. Oh, we lost you there buddy. You okay?
[01:29:07] How about a big sandwich? Yeah, that sounds good. What do you think of that? Is that
[01:29:14] that look good.
[01:29:22] I like this, you like this, Jake?
[01:29:24] Yeah, this is hitting the spot.
[01:29:28] Say, oh my, I need to have another one of those.
[01:29:33] All right, I got something a little special
[01:29:35] for dessert here.
[01:29:44] Oh, look at that. It's got strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, blueberries.
[01:29:53] Look at this. We got pie for you. Do you want me to spoon it in your mouth?
[01:30:02] Does because I love you so much, head-yers so tired.
[01:30:08] Are you like dad's booting pie in your mouth?
[01:30:12] Ah, yeah, we don't, we don't feed you pie in bed at home, do we?
[01:30:18] Is that good?
[01:30:20] Still point and leaving, but leftovers, right?
[01:30:23] Oh, it's good.
[01:30:26] Oh, that, I got it.
[01:30:29] Oh, that was good.
[01:30:32] All right, guys, I'm going to read Jacob some stories of my dad used to read to me,
[01:30:36] used to read to me my brother when we were out camping.
[01:30:39] This is a collection of two bear stories from around Alaska.
[01:30:42] Some of these stories are a little bit intense,
[01:30:44] so I'm going to try to pick an age appropriate one here.
[01:30:46] The bear then lunged at him, and they embraced
[01:30:49] an industrial, the man using his knife,
[01:30:51] and the bear its bangs and claws.
[01:30:54] Well, we've had a good time reading stories
[01:30:55] and eating whipped cream, but Jacob's following the sleep,
[01:30:58] and I think that's time for me to get my bed ready, too.
[01:31:06] I'm pretty proud with the progress I made on this shelter and I've got a lot to do
[01:31:24] tomorrow.
[01:31:25] So we're going to have a full day, a little day tomorrow but I'm going to get some sleep.
[01:31:29] I'll see you guys in the morning.
[01:31:31] Well, good morning. It's about an hour before sunrise. It's me and Jake are doing well
[01:31:36] It's a little cold in here, but we're gonna get a fire started. Get all nice and toast you again
[01:31:47] Yeah, did you get a catch by wolves?
[01:31:51] All right, Jake you want to get to breakfast?
[01:31:54] We've got little raspberry strutals and chocolate croissants
[01:32:01] Because we can't.
[01:32:04] There you go.
[01:32:08] Oh, no, no, no, no.
[01:32:10] Watch my fingers.
[01:32:12] I also got some chicken and apple breakfast sausages here.
[01:32:15] We're going to cook those up.
[01:32:17] I was going to cut the eggs here.
[01:32:18] We're going to cook those by the fire.
[01:32:20] Steak those.
[01:32:22] Right there.
[01:32:23] I'm really right down.
[01:32:26] One.
[01:32:29] There you go.
[01:32:30] There we go.
[01:32:36] Well, let's say I got a bit of building to do today,
[01:32:38] so I'm gonna go ahead and clean this stuff off
[01:32:40] and then we're gonna get to work.
[01:33:00] Oh, that's it.
[01:33:24] Let's go, pretty fast.
[01:33:54] Heave-o.
[01:33:59] Heave-o.
[01:34:04] Heave-o.
[01:34:07] I can show.
[01:34:09] Was that show?
[01:34:54] All right, let's just mount it.
[01:35:24] Now I just need to do a little trim up and I need to make these edges nice and clean.
[01:35:47] these logs all the same way.
[01:36:17] We'll not too shabby, that is the sharp-looking shelter right there.
[01:36:30] Yeah, I'm proud of that.
[01:36:32] You pull the tarp over the top, that thing will get sealed up really good.
[01:36:36] I'm pretty happy with the progress you've made today.
[01:36:38] Unfortunately, I'm not going to get a chance to camp in it tonight because Jacob, do you want
[01:36:43] to go home and see Mama?
[01:36:44] Yeah, I have a little bit left. I want to do on the shelter, so I think I'll save that for my next kit about
[01:36:54] Now one thing I've got to finish when I get back is I got a wall in this whole backside
[01:37:04] And you go
[01:37:06] You good
[01:37:08] You like it when you write out your sleeping bag
[01:37:14] So we're going to call it for today but don't forget to click subscribe, we put our
[01:37:21] new videos every Saturday morning and we'll be back to camp and finish this shelter.
[01:37:26] And if you want to see my previous video or I started this shelter, I'll put a link to
[01:37:29] that video in the video description below.
[01:37:31] Alright guys, see you later.
[01:37:44] We'll get all the things. Thanks for watching.
[01:37:48] Fluke here at the Archer Boys YouTube channel. And today,
[01:37:51] me and Jake, we're going to finish our bunk bed bushcraft shelter.
[01:37:54] We're also going to eat some amazing food and have a great time doing it.
[01:37:58] Oh, there's tons of bunny tracks here, Jake.
[01:38:13] That's where the bunnies have eaten the bark off the tree.
[01:38:16] That's where they eat and the wintertime.
[01:38:18] Oh, no!
[01:38:19] I can see it, we're almost there.
[01:38:27] All right, we made it.
[01:38:28] And looks like some animals have been busy. This is a moose truck for only a day ago
[01:38:33] So many rabbit trucks here see the other side here
[01:38:37] There was a bunny wind side or a Ford we had house yes
[01:38:44] You know, that's pretty hard to do. It's no shoes on their Jake. There we go
[01:38:51] I'm gonna go try that ladder. Yeah, now you climb in it like a chance. Why you use the shovel clean off the snow there?
[01:38:58] Well, our shelter looks like it's in pretty good shape, me and Jake are just going to
[01:39:14] kind of knock the snow off and get things organized and then I've got a few improvements
[01:39:18] I gotta plan in mind I'm gonna need seven small trees.
[01:39:48] Hey, dude, are you getting 12 Jacob, do you want to get in your sleeping bag?
[01:40:17] Get some carabou hides down.
[01:40:24] There we go.
[01:40:32] There's snowy boots.
[01:40:37] Get yourself all the warm down.
[01:40:39] Get down deep enough, see you later.
[01:40:42] You want me to get your blanket?
[01:40:44] Okay.
[01:40:45] There you go.
[01:40:46] Not a Jacob such a trooper, he's been following me around in his snow shoes for the
[01:40:52] last two hours, but his fingers are all cold, so I threw him in a sleeping bag, gave him
[01:40:57] some toys in his blanket, he's good to go.
[01:41:00] If you're going to take kids out in his weather, have a good sleeping bag.
[01:41:03] A good sleeping bag can fix a lot of problems.
[01:41:14] Hello Chatters, I know we said we're going to go to like best buy and stuff but now I'm
[01:41:35] I'm in a food coma and I want to sleep even more like I actually feel like I'm hung over right now
[01:41:42] I'm exhausted
[01:41:51] I guess you have none of those who can shoot today and start the stuff up on tomorrow

[01:49:53] Be fair, we didn't have an alarm, but it's so pretty crazy to sleep that much.

[01:50:02] I guess we were like super dark.
[01:50:04] Very basal and garlic in there.
