Even logs that are way too big for your knife.
You'll need a good solid knife with a full tank
and a strong small diameter log that'll be your baton.
I'll start out by splitting the smaller log.
I'll need this for splitting much bigger ones.
Strike the center of the blade until it goes through the log and strike down on the end of the blade while pushing down on the handle with your other hand
I'll split one of these halves by doing the same thing and then I'll use one of these pieces to carve a wedge
It's one of use hardwood for this. It's gonna work fast. This is maple
This is a good technique for if your logs are too big for your knife most of the time
The log is gonna have a natural crack in it even if it's very small so I'm gonna use that to my advantage
I'll take the tip of the wedge and place it along the crack
Normally this is a job for an axe or splitting mall or a hatchet, but it's always good to know how to do more with less.
Now your halves are small enough to where you can split them with your knife.
For even bigger lugs, you might need more than one wish.
And this is why you want this is not what I'm doing. This doesn't help me.
