They go to this lake and this lakehouse cabin to try to find inspiration.

Thomas Zain ends up being the shining light in the story that helps release him
from this grip of darkness.
And then he ends up playing out all the words in the manuscript that are currently
written that he had written up to a certain point.

No playing control isn't strictly necessary to understand Alan Wake 2, but it significantly enhances
the experience.
It's mostly because you don't know who the FBC is, the Federal Bureau of Control, because

I didn't play any of the control DLCs.
