So this is the moment. World of Warcraft's most crazy and unhinged moments number two.
What's going to be in here? Mr. Mad Season, let's take a look.
I'm a more PG has gained a reputation of being the most intense genre of game and for good
reason.
They're competitive, easily the most time consuming, the most grindy and combined this with the
fact that they never end.
It's not uncommon these days for players to have several years of playtime accumulated
with a substantial portion of their time dedicated to items or rewards that
would leave most rational people mystified of their obsessiveness.
World of Warcraft being a staple of the genre is no different
and today we continue our series of videos covering the most
unhinged, craziest, obsessed, spectacular,
and maybe the most toxic moments in its history.

I love MMOs, but you know, I just, I hate the leveling.
I mean, I love the genre, but I hate farming gold.
That's my favorite type of game to play,
but I hate having to find a guild
and having to socialize to really.
The MMO RPG is the only genre.
I feel like Mad Season says this silent part out loud
every time and it's just like,
okay, yeah, true, very true.
And that people love so much
that they'll actually pay any amount of money possible
to not play it.
And one of the things that Classic World of Warcraft was anticipated and touted for was that it was the before times,
the pure early years before the game was monetized in 40 different ways.
Ever since Activision acquired Blizzard in 2008, players have slowly witnessed the game becoming more and more monetized and more and more impactful ways.
It started as just in-game cosmetic pets, we promise, slowly transformed into being able to purchase all forms of character progression, of course,
them the best items and most coveted titles available with the swipe of the credit card.
And someone classic 2019 was announced and players learned that its only monetization
was a subscription fee.
They felt like they were going back to those good old days, back when accomplishments
meant something because they were obtained with time commitment instead of a credit
card.
But as time went on and the game started to get progressively and blatantly infested
with bots, players started to put two and two together and they realized if
If you're such a large supply, there must also be a large demand.
Players of course turn to third party websites to do anything in their power to not play
the video game that they claim to love playing.
Raiders, Rankers, levelers, paying for dungeon boosts, casual players browsing the auction
house, largely in part with Blizzard's lack of agency or interest in enforcing the
terms of service.
RMT was and remains to be rampant in classic World of Warcraft as players were all
too eager to immediately corrupt the last bastion of an even playing field, the intense
demand birth.
So, one of the, I've talked about this on stream before, but one of the problems with
gold buying is that every time someone buys gold, it intensifies the problem and makes
it worse.
So, what I mean by that is if no one bought gold, there would be a lot less inflation,
a lot less gold in the economy.
Say like in a perfect world, there's zero gold selling, zero gold buying, obviously
that can never happen.
But let's just pretend everything would cost way less gold.
So when you do a dungeon, you're just randomly getting gold drops.
You're doing a quest and you get like that 10 gold.
That 10 gold from the quest would go further and buying you raid mats, raid consumes, right?
There's less inflation, things are cheaper, whatever.
Now, say someone then buys gold, right?
One person buying gold doesn't affect much.
But then say your whole guild starts buying all the other guilds on the server start buying gold.
Now the price of everything starts to raise.
Now, you can't really afford to buy these things, like the mats and stuff like that,
without buying gold or farming a crap ton of time.
So everyone that then buys gold makes the problem worse and worse and worse and worse.
So we're at this point where, since everyone's buying gold, everyone needs to buy gold.
And you can't afford things without buying gold because everyone's buying gold, but every
time you swipe, you make the problem worse.
That's kind of where it's at, right?
If we all agree to stop buying gold right now, then the problem gets better for everyone.
The veritable bot army infesting every single corner of the game, and players watched hundreds
in vape leveling zones over on popular farming spots, flyhack teleport to raids, they would
be abused in boost runs where mages would gather up hundreds of mobs in a dungeon to
aoe them all at once. Often this was done with cheating software. They would create
these automatically ran scripts that would perform their routes for them, or just straight
up teleport hack as players who yearn for the good old days of meaningful leveling
and questing. AFK'd at the entrance paying with gold that they bought with the credit
card, essentially purchasing a level boost in all but name. It was particularly rampant
within the raiding community, as with vanilla and its balance being in the wild west, consumables
played a huge role in the end game.
Months of raiding war on many players as they turned towards fighting in order to maintain
the costly upkeep, and not only that, but as time went on and raids became more and
more puggable, gdkp runs would become more and more common.
Short for gold dragon killing points, which makes no sense by the way, and as in these
The raids would be auctioned off in a bidding war between the players and at the end the
pot would be split evenly amongst the raid.
For some it was an interesting way to earn gold while participating in their favorite
activity and for others the pipeline to achieve the best gear in the game by swiping a credit
card just like the retail version of the game culminating with this now infamous
screenshot of a player paying near-gold cap for Gressel which is the best in slot
one-hander for DPS Warriors.
These gdkp runs would soon take over the game, even prompting enough demand for blizzard to
ban them in future reruns, though they're still in the 2019 line of the game and they remain
to be quite dominant.
I don't like gdkps, I've talked about this many times before, I love the idea in theory.
Gold blinds off the table, people either go to a raid and make money or get loot.
Cool win win for everyone, right?
The problem that TDKPs is in practice, it's different than in theory.
In theory, they are great.
In practice, they're terrible.
In practice, what happens is the person that swipes harder gets all the loot, and then
you get gold, but then you go to the next raid and you still can't really get anything
because the person that swipes the hardest gets all the loot.
In practice, I've just never, ever had a good experience, first-hand experience
at least.
So it's always been awful.
In theory, they're fantastic because it doesn't work out that way.
So, the combined efforts of the players themselves and the lack of moderation on Blizzard's part,
one of the things that chased players away from the retail version of the game is now
fully integrated into the culture of what was supposed to be an escape.
With this screenshot serving as a monument that time is an endless circle and all roads
eventually lead to the same place.
in response to that. People will say it's gatekeeping, completely ignoring the fact that it's a multiplayer
game and all progress is relative. Not that you would expect somebody who pays other people to
play 90% of the game for them to understand the genre. But if you really want to talk about
gatekeeping, you haven't seen anything yet. The build-up to Classics Release was one of
the most intense moments in Blizzard community's history, fueled by distrust of the modern
developers. The pre-launch for the 2019 run was dominated by the no changes movement. The raids,
class balance, or lack thereof items, reputations, the pvp system, world buffs. They wanted the
original game as close as humanly possible. Any and everything from blood. I can understand the
no changes movement in 2019. I really can. Like you're frustrated with Blizzard or making retail
into something you don't want it to and you're like those are just give us exactly what we had
don't change anything I get it now seven years later right we're living in the future it's like
okay we played that it's very fun but there are things like small things that could be improved
and more content to be added now that we've done that RuneScape went through the same historical
event in 2013 and now look at um old school today right so it's like yeah I get it I get both
shadows to the classic water to even introducing artificial leg to match
the limited technological infrastructure of the mid-2000s today this crowd has
mellowed out quite a bit especially after the death blow that was delivered
via paid level boosts hold you so by the way but anyone who's active
is going to lead up to the game or recall just how intense it was and anyone
and suggesting any change, no matter how minor it may have been,
were immediately, John Enquartered.
As the majority of the player base believed that
the best thing that Blizzard could do for the game
was to not touch it.

I think the game being multiplayer, no changes crowd-sod down as a threat to the sanctity of the game.
What if a streamer plays on their server?
What if they have a crowd of people spanning chat channels, giving them free items and gold, an easy scare of lord?
It is a multiplayer game after all, you can't just live in your own bubble and not affect others.
And so, this would become a source of friction between streamers, their communities, and the
rest of the player base, with some members of the ladder making it clear that these alien
communities were not welcome on their server.
This would go on for months until they'd hit something of a boiling point when a popular
streamer named Soda Poppin had this to say.
Love to not receive any streamer benefits, but also all the downsides of being a streamer.
I don't want to receive those either.
I'd rather it all just be gone.
I want to be a completely normal player.
That's not happening.
One thing you could do is basically a horde and alliance blacklist.
If an alliance player is just blatantly just being a fucking sperm.
Just stream sniping, clouching, like all these different terrible things, like a knowing
thing.
I'll take that person and I'll say, okay, blacklist this person.
My friends on the alliance or other streamers don't play with this person.
They are never allowed in anything that the actual good guilds on the Alliance are doing.
They are blacklist.
So, you won't get any actual good raids.
You'll never actually get any good gear.
And eventually, if you want to keep stream sniping, you're going to be doing it while

server guilds always planned to speed level a full raid in hopes of a week
one regular of skills will announce their intended server with this
message. Streamers, you're not welcome on X. Any attempt to play on our server will result
in such an amount of griefing for both factions that you will be unable to play.
I never heard about that, this is crazy! After 9 days, we will begin the plan of attack.
There will be Christ-Pempst. There will be Chainsheed. There will have their bags
and mailboxes filled with heavy leather balls and peeling the onions. You will not
be able to take a single bomb at any time that they're in.
What's funny and ironic about this is this is directly against terms of service.
Like you can't target someone and allow them to not play the game.
Very clearly in the TOS you can't do that.
So nice post bro.
This will be a coordinated effort, having a 281 of 60 players.
No amount of fanboys.
This will stop us.
But that's not enough.
Sometime after our announcement, but before the game launches, we will publish the blacklist.
An alarm that will make streamers invisible to their own faction and constantly tracked by their opposing faction.
With the blacklist, any streamer and those in the same guild will have the following effects placed on them.
Your trade requests and group requests will be automatically cancelled.
If a player enters a group you are already in, they will automatically leave.

list is phase two of classic 2019 okay here we go release classic world of warcraft they implemented
something of a schedule of content releases of course when the game originally released back in
in 2004. Many of the features and systems, raids, dungeons, recipes, quests, and so on
were slowly added. So for the re-release, they decided to pick what they felt to be the most
major of these updates and fit them into a six-phase schedule to roughly match the
cadence of patch releases in the original run of the game.
Phase one would come with the original raids, molten core in Enixia, swallows Maradin,
And as you can see, it explicitly mentions that while you can PVP, there are no rewards
for doing so.
This missing honor system would come in Phase 2, which was released on November 12, 2019,
which was about two and a half months after its initial release.
I remember that.
So at this point, the vast majority of serious players had hit Level 60, and it started
to accumulate high-end gear.
The reason why it was one of the most toxic and degenerate moments in the game's history,

take a flight, just dead, like anywhere, bro.
Alliance were just shivering in their cities,
like, oh, we can't leave, they're so scared.
It was brutal, very brutal.
And then, uh, and then battlegrounds came out and everything changed.
So nice.
Uninhabitable solo PVP hotspots that happened to hold dungeons like the
black rock depths and the black rock mountain was a corpse run marathon,
turning the travel time from five minutes to 50 questing areas for
levels 50 to 60 were the prime hunting grounds.
And if your numbers pass against TOS, so someone correct me.
if I'm wrong, but I don't think it's against TOS to world PVP.
I think what's against TOS is tracking someone down specifically
via information on a Discord server or a Reddit
or a stream or a YouTube video or whatever
and camping them specifically
and following them around the world.
It's very different to AOE a flight path for TOS
than to harass someone individually.
That's how I understand it.
So no, AOE camping a flight path, not against TOS,
tracking some of them specifically throughout the world
and harassing them is against TOS.

Green, you're on the table as everybody was scrambling
to scavenge as much honor as humanly possible.
And remember, this was the era
before Dungeon Finder and teleports
either had to quest out in the world
or hide in the confines of the dungeon
and mindlessly grind it over and over to progress.

You'd have actual raids.
patrolling across entire zones and circles, hunting lovelers, and another one waiting at
the graveyard in case they took resurrection sickness.
The Unresisting first released in 2005.
It was pretty bad.
It wasn't like this because no one really understood the game, but by 2020 the game
obviously has been micro-analyzed and hyper-optimized, and the optimal way to rank during this
period was to corp scan people until they logged off.
It was truly one of the radiest times in the game's history.
It was brutal.
The casual players just started the straight-up quit and third-party websites were overflowing
with salt. And many point towards this moment as a major hemorrhaging of the casual player
based on PvP servers as the game was essentially unplayable. Some people will say,
what are you talking about? This looks awesome, which it is in some senses. In a way, it's
rather interesting and unique to have such danger roaming about the world. But the
The problem was it ended up being incredibly damaging to the game because it was at this
moment that the servers became incredibly imbalanced.
Servers with even small discrepancies between the factions, such as 60-40, would eventually
slide to 70-30 and then 80-20 because the underman faction simply couldn't play the
game.
Yeah, so it was like, if a server was like 55-45, you know, it kind of worked but
as soon as it starts to slide, it's like domino theory, right?
You have more people on Horde, 60, 40,
and it's like, oh crap,
the Alliance are kind of getting dominated.
So if someone rolls on the server,
it's like, oh, I'll just roll Horde
because I would rather not get owned
in WorldPVP consistently, right?
And then it goes to 65, 35.
Then it's like, okay, now it's so dominant
that it's like, okay, I'm definitely gonna roll Horde.
And then it goes to 70, 30.
And then it goes to 80, 20.
And then all of a sudden it's like,
all the dominoes go down, right?
It's like, boom, everyone's on one side.
It's like, okay, that's kind of how it works.
So that every server's got completely ruined.
For cosplayers to transfer unmask off of underdog factions,
and not only that,
they would transfer to servers where their faction
was the majority until 90% of the active servers
became imbalanced to the point to where you couldn't even
find rating guilds.
Major cities would be taken over by the opposite faction.
So as interesting as it all was,
it was also a very damaging moment for the game
as people watched their communities,
which was one of the major draws of classic,
slowly fade away in fracture
under this pressure of severe imbalance.
It was so bad that Blizzard ended up actually releasing
the Warsaw Gorge and Altrick Valley Battlegrounds
two months ahead of time before phase three,
which relieved the craziness going on in the world
as the primary means of farming honor
were now battlegrounds.
So people could AFK and Altrick Valley to rank,
which was a different but equally ready form of
PvP, that they loved so much, but even still, the damage was done as the world of the MMO
saw yet another example of how the players must be protected from themselves.

You hit us with a like and share our Discord because we have a new section in there that
is called in the out that help you succeed at whatever your aim in the game is. Diving
right into it, things that need to be understood. Your defense skill works as follows. For each
one defense skill, you are granted 0.04% dodge parry block chance to be missed or chance to be
crit. And there's a very complicated formula that I'm going to go over and explain in the
the best way possible that goes along with these things.
Your base stats are as a tank, for every one stamina point you get 10 points of HP and
some classes have modifiers that increase that.
For example, your Druid Bear form or your Dire Bear form will increase your stamina
by 25%.
If you are a dude and you have 5 points at the heart of the wild, that adds an additional
20% stamina, and if you have Blessing of Kings up from a paladin, that's going to give you
plus 10% to all stats, making the effective formula 10 times 1.25 times 1.20 times 1.10
totaling 16.5 HP per point of stamina, that's a 65% increase to stamina, which is absurd.
That's what I have for you as far as individual tanking classes.
Now here is something that really matters, right?
In the burning crusade classic, avoidance rolls are ordered.
And they're ordered in Miss Dodge, Perry, Block, Hit and Crit.
I don't think I knew this.
They're ordered in a specific order.
I didn't know it went Miss first, then Dodge.
I don't know if that's, is that relevant at all?
it is relevant, I didn't know that.
And what that means specifically is this.
I will try to break it down as efficiently as possible.
So the way that being hit is programmed into the game, let's say for a tank in a PvE scenario,
is that there's a miss, a dodge, a parry, a block, and then there's the ability for
you to get hit, and then there's the ability for you to be critically damaged, right? But
it is worth noting that only one result can happen per attack, and the game stops checking
as soon as one result succeeds. So what that means is let's say that there's a raid boss
that attacks a tank, and that tank has an 8% chance to be missed, a 25% chance to dodge,
a 15% chance to parry and a 20% chance to block. The game resolves the attack as follows. If the
roll fails within the miss range, the attack misses. The dodge check then comes into effect.
It's only checked if the attack did not miss. So if it passes the miss check or fails within
the miss range then it goes to the dodge check and then after the dodge check it goes into the
parry check and the parries only checked if the attack did not miss or get dodged. I'm kind of
confused on why this matters if you have the 102.4 then you have the 102.4 if you don't you don't
I mean I'll keep listening clearly I'm missing something. And then if it passes the parry
check then it goes into the block check right and why this order matters right
because once you get to hit if it got through all of those checks then you're
gonna take the damage and if it gets to the hit damage then you can be critically
hit which is you know big damage on a tank and you don't want that in a PDE
scenario and why this matters why does matter yeah your block and parry chance
do not reduce your crit chance directly.
Shield block and holy shield force the table.
When the block chance becomes high enough,
block occupies so much of the table
that crushing blows and crits are completely removed.
This is why warrior and powder than tanks
rely on block based abilities.
Crushing blows are also-

It's making it more complicated than it needs to be.
Just go for your defense and go for your uncrushable.
Go for uncritable and go for uncrushable.

get this much defense, get this much avoidance
to your shilling.
Table-based, it's very complicated,
but I'll help you understand it all.
Crushing blows only occur if they remain on the attack table.
So if you're able to push them off the attack table,
they cannot occur.
And those are removed by filling the table
with misdodge, parry, or block.
This state is called historically
in World of Warcraft being uncrushable,
which is what some people demand from tanks
because a crush and bloke and wipe arrayed.
And a way to make it make sense is,
let's say you have a 100 sided die, you know?
And on that 100 sided die,
that you roll every single time the boss
tries to hit you with an attack.
If you roll a one through eight,
given the stat examples that we provided earlier,
which I'll go over them real quickly again, right?
Let's say that you have a tank with 8% chance to be missed,
a 25% chance to dodge, a 15% chance to parry,
and a 20% chance to block.
And you roll that 100-sided die.
If it lands on numbers 1 through 8, the attack will miss.
If it lands on numbers 9 through 33, the attack will be dodged.
If it lands on numbers 34 to 48, the attack will be parried.
If it lands on numbers 49 to 68,
you will block the attack if it lands on number 60.
So if you have the higher block chance,
it pushes the crit off of the table altogether.
Okay, like, yeah.
Nine to 94, the attack will hit you.
And if it lands on number nine.
I think this video is just more of like an interesting thing
if you're curious about how the game does the actual math,
but it's completely irrelevant for like anything.
He's not even telling you how much defense or avoidance to get.
It's literally just, this is how the game calculates it,
if you're interested.
But like no one needs to know this pretty much at all.
95 to 100, you will be critically hit by that attack.
And this is a formula in the programming
that is happening every single time
that you are hit by an attack as a tank.
And the reason why tanking stats are so vital
the success, an end game of your rating experience or your dungeon experience is that adding dodge
or block or any stats like that shrinks the hit and crit ranges and the smaller you can get that
range or the lowest percent that you can get the range for you to be hit or critically hit
it, the better you are at staying alive as a tank, the more load that you take off of
the healers, healing you independently and they can focus on the rest of the raid and
the higher the percent chance of you succeeding a certain raid is going to be.
To summarize it all, avoidance is not additive, it is positional and your earlier
results um erase your later ones so if you fill one of the slots on that table then your later
results are erased so if you you know have a hit miss you then it doesn't go through the rest of
the table it doesn't keep trying but why does that matter on a practical level
at all it doesn't like it like it I can't believe the whole video is gone he's
that he doesn't even talk about the the avoidance cap or the defense cap I don't

Pali tanks are interesting because you have spell damage
and you need spell damage to keep threat.
But at the same time, you need to not get,
you need to not die.
So you need 485 defense for heroics and 490 defense for raids.
And this is to not get crit.
So 485 defense for heroics, 490 defense for raids,
that's not good crit.
Once you're there, you need avoidance.
Avoidance is the sum of block, parry, dodge, and miss.
You need 102.4 avoidance in raids.
And in dungeons, it doesn't really matter as much
because you can't get crushed, because there's no level 63s or something.
But in Rage, you want that 102.4.
To hit 102.4 as a Pally, you need 67.4% baseline or fully buffed,
because you're going to get the other at 35% from Holy Shield.
Assuming you have Libra Mother Pentance.
So 67.4 is the number you're looking for.
You can be a little under that because buffs help a bit.
And 102.4 is when you have Holy Shield up.
always have fully shield up.
And that's it.
So defense cap to be uncritable, avoidance cap to be
uncrushable, and enough spell power to keep threat.
For heroics, since you don't need the avoidance cap,

If you're new to WoW right now, like so here's the thing.
WoW goes through phases where like something is really hype and then something isn't really hype and this and that.
If you're playing WoW right now, the most hype thing by far is TBC.
Midnight the new retail expansion comes out in 10 days.
And I don't know if I'm on copium here, but like I don't really recommend retail for new players.
But I just don't know, like, I feel like classic for new players who just makes more sense.

Anyway, I would probably recommend TBC right now.
I think it's easier to get into than retail.

What healer is best priest or shaman I really like playing with rest or shamans
I feel safe with a Rester Shaman. Although, I was just playing with that Priest for a while and that Priest kept me up too.
I also like playing the Druids. I like Rester Druids a lot.
I think the only healer I don't like playing with is a Holy Pally.
I think that's like the one that I'm just like, okay.
Waiting for a heal.
I think that the healer I feel the safest with, ironically is the druid I think.
When I have three blooms on me, I just know I'm not going to die, period.
There's no amount of damage that can kill me through that, because it's constantly rolling.
So say I get spiked, I'm already constantly rolling with heals.
It's like really hard to die with a Russo Druid I think.
Like yeah, like two ad-hubs would still kill me through triple blooms, but then that's my fault, right?
Like if I'm taking two ad-hubs, that's my fault.
That's the way I see it.

Why are Holy Pally so good in raids? Because that's actually not the first time I've heard that

okay so this is a melee cleave again round two this time it's in a dungeon that I'm somewhat
familiar with let's see how it feels it's also a dungeon that um I think is like a little less
annoying for the melee cleave as well. So this problem is the siren silence, we have no dispel.
So hopefully the uh,
you know what I will say is it's harder to hold aggro with the melee cleave because the damage
is spikeier. When I'm playing with a mage they just pop a blizzard and it's super easy to hold
aggro
Because the blizzard isn't gonna rip when I'm playing with a lock
They throw out a bunch of seed of you know seeds, but the seeds don't rip right away either
Because it takes a while to pop you know what I mean

With a melee cleave, though, like the shaman or the warrior can get a windfury proc, run
in, and just insipole.
You know what I mean?
Like the aggro definitely feels a bit harder on the melee cleave.
Seed is weird, a blast, but it doesn't feel aggro hungry.
Well, the tank gets so much time to develop threat before the seed.
Usually threats fine as long as you have a little bit of time to build threat, right?

you know, there's a long time for that mob to actually get to the castor,
So I could bubble, immunity, chill, cancel, and I'm full HP, you know, it's almost like a laying hands.
I think that Oracle's the one that fears, not the Siren.

All right, I have to say after running with the melee cleave, I personally am under the
opinion now that I've done castor cleave and melee cleave that castor cleave is superior.

I'm built to tank for casters.
If I was a Druid or a warrior, that might not be the case.
For a Druid, I think building like Hunter Warrior

with the Pali is with a Shadow Priest still.
I like the Shadow Priest a lot.

TBC has you by the balls yet the TBC is very fun. I will say this though and this is true
for any version of WoW not just TBC the pre raid grind is always super fun where WoW generally
falls off is after you get pre raid miss and you start to raid log that's usually
when WoW gets a little more boring. So yes, this is very fun, but we're getting to the
end of it. We're almost a raid log. It's been a fun time, though. So one week, well, like
pre-patch into leveling, into normals, into heroics, into the first raid for the first
few weeks, all of that. So like, what is that, two months or something? Very fun.
And then yeah, then if you swan, then that's when you roll it all to exactly.
We're amped, bro.
