[02:39:04] Van Keep. Yeah. For anyone who played Classic Wow, the name Silver Lane should sound very familiar.

[02:39:11] More specifically, Silver Lane's Family Seal. Right, yeah. The ring drop from Baron Silver Lane

[02:39:17] and Shadow Van Keep and was one of the most desirable pieces of early game gear in Classic.

[02:39:24] So when we saw Blade of Silver Lane mentioned in this mysterious scroll, we had a pretty obvious place to start.

[02:39:30] Yeah, definitely.

[02:39:31] There was just one problem. The tooltip didn't tell us where the sword was. It only said use on Blade of Silver Lane to create a powerful weapon.

[02:39:40] So it's probably just a new rare drop, right?

[02:39:42] So we decided to assume the most obvious possibility.

[02:39:45] Maybe the sword was somewhere inside Shadowfang Keep. And if it was, we were going to find it.

[02:39:50] We put together a group of level 20 players and headed into one of the most challenging dungeons currently available to us.

[02:39:58] Our goal was simple.

[02:40:00] Clear the entire dungeon.

[02:40:02] We killed every boss.

[02:40:03] We searched every-

[02:40:04] They didn't draw from that one, huh?

[02:40:05] We checked the terrain.

[02:40:07] We looked for anything that could be interacted with to see if we could find the sword.

[02:40:12] And after clearing the entire dungeon, nothing.

[02:40:20] Nothing at this point. We started wondering if we had completely misunderstood the tooltip

[02:44:16] For anyone who plays Wrath of the Lich King, you know exactly where this is going.

[02:44:21] Fingers of Frost became one of the defining mechanics of Frostmage, and allowed your

[02:44:25] spells to trait certain targets as though they were frozen.

[02:44:28] And suddenly, that strange effect on Coldflame Saber became a lot more interesting because

[02:44:34] now we had a potential way to activate it.

[02:44:37] But things got even crazier.

[02:44:39] Well a few mage friends and I were messaging back and forth about the weapon.

[02:44:42] Okay hold on, is he thinking that the proc from Cold Flame is going to work with fingers?

[02:44:48] Because fingers reads treats your next spell cast.

[02:44:53] So I don't think it'll work unless I'm trolling, but it literally says spell cast.

[02:44:59] So I don't think the equipped melee attack from Cold Flame is going to work.

[02:45:08] One of them discovered something that could potentially make this weapon even more powerful.

[02:45:13] The on hit damage appeared to scale with Spell Power.

[02:45:16] And if our testing is correct, we're looking at something in the neighborhood of 200% Spell

[02:45:20] Power Scaling.

[02:45:21] Now think about what that means.

[02:45:24] A level 21 weapon with a 2 second attack speed that can deal an additional 98 fire

[02:45:30] damage against frozen targets.

[02:45:33] Potentially scaling with Spell Power.

[02:45:35] And potentially interacting with fingers crossed.

[02:46:16] We have an effect that can deal 98 additional fire damage against frozen targets. We have potential spell power scaling

[02:46:23] We have fingers of frost which can allow us to treat targets frozen

[02:46:28] We have shatter which dramatically increases our spell critical chance against frozen targets

[02:46:33] We have weapon and viewing scrolls.

[02:48:29] Wild Forever are keeping Mages' traditional classic identity intact while introducing a brand new way to

[02:48:36] play the class? What if Battle... I mean bro, what if they gave Mages like an actual

[02:48:43] like an actual attack that you could do in a Shatter Combo like off a GCDC like Frostbolt

[02:48:50] Iceland's Melee and like you did like a melee Shatter combo like it could be really cool and really fun, but I

[02:51:54] Imagine a mage that can customize their weapons depending on the situation.

[02:51:59] A frost weapon that freezes enemies. A fire weapon that applies some kind of stacking burn

[02:52:05] effect. A different weapon that interacts with defensive abilities.

[02:52:10] Look, look, there's a way in which Blizzard could do this if they wanted to add a battle

[02:52:15] mage. You can do it. What do you need to do? You need to add a talent that makes mages,

[02:52:21] melee attacks work from 10 yards. So they're close range, but you could still like attack

[02:52:30] dead zoning like a warrior. Like you can't just go toe to toe with a warrior as a

[02:52:33] a mage, that's stupid. But you'd have to like make it to where your 40 damage wide attacks,

[02:52:39] you could weave in with spells while being in a mid-range 10-yard design. That could

[02:52:45] theoretically work. But if you're ever a mage, total to total to warrior, you're just gonna

[02:52:49] die, right? So you'd have to build a spec where like you wouldn't want to be 40 yards

[02:52:55] because you wouldn't be able to attack, but you wouldn't want to be zero yards

[02:52:57] because you would die. So you'd have to make a mid-range spec of like this 10-yard

[02:53:01] thing. And that could work. That could work. Um, but you'd have to like, you know, make

[02:53:08] auto attacks work from 10 yards. Step one, step two, you'd probably give them like an

[02:53:12] actual melee attack, like a frost slice or something or like an arcane slice or whatever

[03:05:19] For example, like you might think arcane blast times four in the barrage should

[03:05:24] be the rotation but what if missiles is just 20 times like I'm just giving a crazy number

[03:05:30] like what if missiles is like 20 times stronger than arcane blast then you would never arcane

[03:05:35] blast like that wouldn't be the case right you can assume 99% of the time that wouldn't

[03:05:39] be the case so under normal assumptions you can come up with like a basic rotation

[03:05:43] for every class in the game just by reading the talents in this fall book are you gonna

[03:05:47] be like right every time no but most most of the time you can pretty much figure

[03:05:51] out just by reading how would you feel about rotation defining spells being

[03:05:56] on four to five piece tier sets good yeah like it changes your rotation patch to
